American dramatist and screenwriter, a former journalist. He attended Brown and Yale Universities and started in films in the early 1930s, working primarily for Warner Brothers, Universal and 20th Century-Fox. He was married to
Beth Milton and
Joan Marsh. He is best known for his three-act play "The Mystery of the Wax Museum", twice filmed as "House of Wax".
