Debra Baum faces two years in jail if convicted
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office has filed charges against talent manager Debra Baum as part of its crackdown on Hollywood talent scams, City Attorney Mike Feuer said Friday.
Baum, 53, has been charged with four counts of violating the Talent Scam Prevention Act and faces up to two years in jail and $20,000 in fines if convicted. Among other stipulations, the act prohibits agents and talent managers from charging an advance fee for representation.

Rebecca Black is ready to make her debut on major label. The YouTube sensation has got Debra Baum from Db Entertainment as her music manager. They are now focusing on getting the teen into studio "very soon" to start recording material. The "Friday" hitmaker is eying to release a full-length studio album to show what she is really capable of. "She is unbelievable," Baum said.
Rumor had it, Black was connected to Braum via Ryan Seacrest after the "American Idol" host had a chat with her on his morning radio show. But Baum brushed it off to E! Online, "It was actually Tony Novia who made many recommendations to Rebecca and her parents about me as a manager. It was not Ryan. Tony is an executive who works for Ryan's company."

If anyone has seen a lot of talented teenagers come to Hollywood in hopes of hitting it big as pop stars, it's Ryan Seacrest. So it really makes perfect sense that the American Idol and E! News host noticed the media hype surrounding 13-year-old Rebecca Black and her YouTube-sensation single "Friday" and, after having her on his Kiis-fm show, put the kid's camp in touch with top music manager Debra Baum of Db Entertainment. That's the "aw, shucks" story that's out there, anyway. But is that how her recent major career move really came about? Hang onto your contracts, kids, because this rumor is... So false! Storm Chasers however mixes these two elements with the pace and excitement of an action movie. If you're not familiar with the show, it works a bit like Twister - a group of adventurous scientists are hunting for storm in order to study them. Since tornados and other weather catastrophes seem to occur in a random pattern, it's important to catch them on time as the results may bring forward new data that may be able to help avert similar catastrophes in the near future.
