She was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) from the Canadian Governor General on May 1, 2002 and invested on: February 21, 2003 in Slemon Park, Prince Edward Island, Canada. For almost 30 years, this author, composer and performer had been celebrating the heritage and the hopes of Acadia, in both Canada and Europe. Her English and French lyrics for television, radio and the stage are exceptionally moving. She shared her work with both adult and young audiences as a host of radio and television shows. Especially sensitive to the importance of early childhood development, she took her career in a new direction to give more time to very young children, particularly through her work for Sesame Street and the Canal Famille.
