Sf Studios-owned Swedish production banner Flx is developing a thriller feature based on Joakim Zander’s novel “An Honest Life.”
Published in April, “An Honest Life” is set at a university campus in Lund, Southern Sweden. During a violent demonstration, a young, lost law student meets a woman who introduces him to her eccentric friends. Their lives revolve around radical ideals, as well as lies. When he eventually realizes what he has become involved in, it is already too late to get out.
Filming is set to begin next fall with topnotch creators whose names will be announced at a later stage.
“Joakim Zander elegantly, intelligently, and thrillingly weaves together a diabolical heist thriller with a classic coming of age narrative,” said Anna Anthony, Flx’s head of feature film.
“I love that it is set in and around Lund University: the September light, brick walls covered in Boston ivy,...

A group of producers and entertainment executives is heading to New York for a series of talks and one-on-one networking sessions over October 6-8.
Film i Väst, the Swedish regional film fund, sponsors the trip, which is organised by London and La-based consultants MediaXchange.
Mediaxchange CEO Katrina Wood (pictured), said the aim of the delegation – which she described as “very much the cream of the crop in Sweden” – was to foster close ties and build towards a reciprocal trip in February 2015 during the Gothenburg Film Festival.
“The goal is to build a bridge between the industry there and the Swedes in a more substantial way then has been done in the past, which was very much on a project-by-project basis,” said Wood.
“Delegates will be there for three days during the New York Film Festival to understand the issues of working in the Us market and to meet some of the experts there. The majority...

Columbia Pictures and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company are in final negotiations with scribe Phil Wen to pen the comedy remake Kopps. Columbia and Happy Madison won a heated bidding war for the remake rights to the Swedish comedy in April. The original film centers on a small-town police force that is on the verge of being shut down because of a lack of crime in the area. Happy Madison's Sandler, Jack Giarraputo and Tom McNulty are producing along with Primal Pictures' Amanda Klein and Michael Nash. Lars Jonsson and Anna Anthony, who produced the original, are executive producing. At Columbia, the project is being overseen by co-president Doug Belgrad. Wen, a veteran TV writer-producer who has worked on such series as ABC's Spin City, Fox's Oliver Beene and ABC's 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, made his first feature sale in April when Dimension acquired his comedy spec The Von Doozers, with Todd Phillips attached to produce. Wen is repped by UTA and Benderspink.
