Vanessa White has become the second celebrity to be voted off ITV’s Popstar To Operastar.
The Saturday’s singer was berated on tonight’s show for missing a rehearsal this week and for singing an easy song badly.
Vanessa found herself in the bottom two for the second week running, this time competing with Jimmy Osmond who Rolando claimed had a tired voice tonight.
Meat Loaf and Katherine Jenkins voted to save Osmond, while Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Rolando Villazon voted to save White. This resulted in a tie breaker situation which resulted in Alan Titchmarsh reverting to the public vote results. Thankfully the public were no more impressed with Vanessa than we were and let’s just say she’ll be able to fully dedicate herself to The Saturdays once more.
Do you think the right person left tonight? Leave your comments below!

Popstar To Opera Star continues on ITV1 tonight and we can’t wait to watch Delectable Darius once more. Although we are liveblogging the show, we may be about an hour behind the rest of you, curse that awful Celebrity Big Brother!
We start with a tedious introduction of the judges. We know who Meat Loaf is! Move on please.
Darius Campbell
Darius kicks off tonight’s performances and someone on Twiter compared him to Mr Bean….which kind of ruined the illusion for us! This week Darius will be singing in French and apparently his mispronunciation is leading him to sing about asses. We thought that Darius’ performance was a lot stronger tonight, he definitely performed it well. We could so see him waving that cape about and being torn apart by an angry bull!
Judges Comments:
Rolando: You gave energy, you gave a performance but the French was not all there.

Keisha Buchanan has praised Saturdays star Vanessa White for taking part in Popstar To Operastar. The former Sugababe, who recently returned from recording solo material in Los Angeles, claimed that White was "brave" to take part in the ITV1 show. The Saturdays singer Vanessa White got into trouble last week, after she missed a rehearsal for ITV’s Popstar to Operastar.
Vanessa was said to be upset that she ended up in the bottom two last week and decided to skip practice with mentor and judge Rolando Villazon.
A source told The Sun: “Rolando was extremely angry, especially as he chose to save Vanessa last week.
“The bosses warned her to pull her socks up.
“Since then she’s been back in rehearsals but she’ll have to put on a great show tonight to prove she’s taking the show seriously.”

How gutted are we that our favourite contestant was booted off Popstar To Operastar tonight? Alex James may have been the worst singer on the opera based talent show but he was by far the most entertaining.
During his quirky performance tonight he reminded us of Dancing On Ice’s Todd Carty or Strictly’s John Sergeant, so very hilarious and much more interesting than some of the more talented singers.
However the Blur bassist didn’t get the votes and ended up in the bottom two with The Saturdays singer Vanessa White. The judges were split about who should leave and so the public vote was used to determine the result, which saw Vanessa going on until next week.
What did you think of tonight’s show, leave your comments below and if you missed it, check out our liveblog here.

So we’re liveblogging tonight’s first ever Popstar To Operastar and if it wasn’t presented by Alan Titchmarsh we might actually be excited.
It’s an interesting concept though, they are aiming to turn former pop singers such as Kym Marsh and that Saturday’s girl into bona fide opera singers. The contestants are being mentored by the lovely Katherine Jenkins and the snakey eyebrowed Rolando Villazon and critiqued by Meat Loaf and Lawrence Le flouncy blouse (aka Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen).
The show kicks off with loads of VTs. Katherine and Rolando tell us how amazingly emotional Opera is and Meat Loaf boasts about all his experience.
Jimmy Osmond
It all runs on a bit and then Jimmy Osmond emerges, he’ll be singing that Cornetto song. He rehearses too much and tires out his vocal chords. Will he be ok singing tonight? Oh the drama!!

McFly boy Danny Jones has admitted that he didn’t know a lot about Opera before he started rehearsing for ITV’s Popstar Operastar.
With help from expert and celebrity judges, Danny and his fellow pop singing competitors battle it out to become the best Opera singer on the reality TV show.
Danny admitted:
“I didn’t have a clue about opera,” he says, with a winning smile. “But more than anything else, the challenge of Popstar to Operastar appealed to me. Also, Friday night on ITV1 is a different crowd for me. What’s great is that this show features everyone from Alex James to Jimmy Osmond – that’s a really wide fan-base.”
The 23-year-old singer, who as part of McFly has had seven number one singles, admits that he has not found the opera training easy – in fact, quite the opposite. “It’s been really hard. I’ve got lots of bad habits.

Jimmy Osmond, who has enjoyed a huge number of pop hits, is part of one of the most famous singing families in the world. It was they who urged him to become a contestant on Popstar to Operastar.
46-year-old Jimmy, who performs regularly in the Osmond Family Theater in Branson, Missouri, takes up the story. “I came over here to meet the producers and they said, ‘just for fun, go and vocalise with our coach.’ It would never have crossed my mind that I could hit a big note, but I did and the coach said, ‘that’s cool’.
“Then I went home and didn’t think anything more about it,” continues Jimmy, who has sold over a 100 million records as part of The Osmonds and is also a platinum-selling solo artist. “But soon after, I got a call asking me to take part in Popstar to Operastar. When I told my brothers about it,...

The singer Meat Loaf, a charismatic, larger than life character, jokes that he agreed to be a critic on Popstar to Operastar because, “my demise has been greatly exaggerated. I want to show people that I haven’t ‘demised’. I could have said ‘died,’ but I wanted to stick with the old ‘rock’n’roll idiot’ image!”
A livewire presence, Meat Loaf goes on to outline what sort of critic he will be. “I’ll be looking for someone just like me,” laughs the singer, real name Michael Lee Aday. “What I mean is, I’ll be looking for is a performer who gets up on stage and says, ‘yes, I’m going to own this song’.
“I once performed a George Gershwin song in a very traditional way for an album George Martin was putting together, and it became my own. Don’t give me a hip-hop version of an aria.

Bernie Nolan, one part of the celebrated Nolan Sisters, had a very personal reason for signing up for Popstar to Operastar. “When I heard about this series, it immediately appealed because my mother was the only trained singer in our family.
“She won a place at the Royal College of Music in Dublin, but didn’t go because she wanted to do musical theatre instead. That was a good decision because I wouldn’t be here if she’d gone to the college! But were she alive today, she’d be absolutely thrilled that I’m involved with this project. I’m doing it for her.”
Bernie, whose band have sold in excess of 25 million records worldwide, has already gained so much from being mentored by Katherine. “It’s a joy!,” beams the 49-year-old. “The experience has been incredible. I’m learning so many things I never knew I needed as a singer.

For Vanessa White from The Saturdays, being introduced to the world of opera has been a revelation. The singer, who is being trained to perform arias live on Popstar to Operastar, declares that, “opera is so relaxing. Some people think it’s just for old people, but it appeals to everyone. Opera music is universal.”
The singer, whose band has toured with both Girls Aloud and Take That, confesses that working on the show has been a steep learning curve. “Singing opera is completely different from singing pop. You have to learn a whole new style of performance. In pop, you use your head voice, while in opera it comes from the stomach.
“Also pop singers place their tongues at the back of their mouths, while opera singers have them at the front. I’ve learnt to hit high notes I never knew I could reach. It’s been an amazing process.

Danny Jones, from the pop group McFly, says that his band members encouraged him to take part in Popstar to Operastar. “This offer came through, and all the boys said, ‘do it, do it, do it!’ We get asked to do all sorts of TV shows, and to be honest most of them are rubbish. But this is different. In this show, you’re really learning something. It’s very exciting. We don’t just sit in the jungle eating kangaroo’s private parts. This requires talent!”
That said, Danny confesses that before entering this competition, he didn’t know his aria from his elbow. “I didn’t have a clue about opera,” he says, with a winning smile. “But more than anything else, the challenge of Popstar to Operastar appealed to me. Kym Marsh is thrilled to be involved in Popstar to Operastar. For one thing, she cannot wait to get into her glad rags for the live shows!
“You can be sure I’ll be wearing something glamorous,” laughs the singer, actress and mother of two, who stars as Michelle in Coronation Street. “You can’t sing opera in a pair of jeans. I spend enough time in tracksuits looking after the kids and going back and forth to Corrie. I love getting dressed up!”
She has also adored the learning process for Popstar to Operastar. “The lessons have been so good,” enthuses the 33-year-old. “It’s great to set yourself a challenge: am I capable of learning a new skill?

Alex James is the bassist in British band Blur. But can a popstar best known for playing the bass transform himself into an opera singer?
Having had five number one albums, Alex says: “Elton John buys 100 new pop CDs every week, just so he can keep up with what’s going on. I admire his diligence, but I’m not like that anymore. It occurred to me that listening to young bands – the music didn’t connect in the same way anymore. It reminds me of that line from ‘Panic’ by The Smiths – ‘because the music that they constantly play, it says nothing to me about my life’.”
Alex, who with Blur in 1995 won four Brit Awards, emphasises, “Pop music is about running away and getting the girl, and I’ve done that. Ok, I’ve done what you told me to do – what do I do now? That’s...

Quite by chance, pop star Marcella Detroit was introduced to some sublime arias just a week before being invited to become a contestant on Popstar to Operastar. “A friend gave me some Maria Callas CDs, which were wonderful. I love her singing – I really respond to the emotions she brings to her arias. Then, just a week later I got the call from the producers of this show. How could I say no?”
American Marcella, who enjoyed many years of hits with the pop duo Shakespear’s Sister, could not resist the offer. “It’s so exciting,” enthuses the singer, who took lead vocals on the hit single, “Stay”, which remained at the top of the UK charts for eight weeks. The duo still hold the record for the longest running female group to have a number one single.
“It’s such a great opportunity to be trained by these fantastic vocal coaches.

Twilight had just hit theaters when rumors began to swirl around who would be cast in New Moon. It has resulted in heated arguments and a lot of undue hype. It started with recasting then-director Catherine Hardwicke with Chris Weitz. Next, it was Taylor Lautner versus Michael Copon. Then it was Vanessa Hudgens and Lucas Grabeel from High School Musical. And that's just the beginning. Dakota Fanning, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McKellen, Alan Rickman, AnnaLynne McCord; the list goes on and on. And throughout all of this, no one has bothered to show any journalistic integrity to find out if these rumors are actually true! We've been following up on these rumors directly with the people who ought to know the answers. So, shall we take a look at what is fact and what is fiction?
