- He was the son of Henrietta Jacobson and Julius Adler, both of whom were actors who performed on the Yiddish stage.
- Nominated for Broadway's Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical) two years in a row: in 1991 for "Those Were the Days" and in 1992 for "Crazy for You."
- February 14th, 2007, at age 62, he became a father with the birth of Jacob Hayden Adler.
- In later years he performed in vaudeville song and dance revues which featured Yiddish folk songs.
- Lent his voice to a few Disney films. In Aladdin (1992) he sang the opening song "Arabian Nights". He also had lines in Beauty and the Beast (1991).
- Spoke Yiddish fluently and often made appearances with his parents at a young age.
