This review may contain spoilers. With the ominous words, .Arthur started it. ringing in our ears from last week, we finally got to see what MacPherson (Roger Rees) was referring to. Fifteen years ago, Artie (Saul Rubinek) forced MacPherson to choose between saving the life of his wife or upholding his duty as a Warehouse agent . and MacPherson.s choice lured him down the path of evil. It may have taken MacPherson 15 years to enact his carefully planned retribution, but to his credit, it worked flawlessly. As Mrs. Frederics (Cch Pounder) warned, .That.s what made James such a superior agent, just when you had the upper hand, he.d strike.. The entire episode was a brilliantly crafted trap. We discovered that MacPherson began laying the seeds of his master scheme over 10 years earlier ... »

This is a discussion post about the Warehouse 13 season finale and the season in general. I feel compelled to warn you that if you’re a time-shifted viewer, you may wish to return after viewing the episode since I’ve included some generic references that could Spoil it for you!
The season finale of Warehouse 13 continued the conflict between James MacPherson (Played by Roger Rees) and the Warehouse. Though at times, I’m not sure if he’s ticked at Artie (Saul Rubinek), ticked about all the years on the job that he “wasted” or just wants to snag and sell artifacts. (I think we know the answer to that last one!)
We were given some more background information on Artie and James and we got to see a few new cool artifacts in use.
We even watched the mysterious Mrs. Frederic (Cch Pounder) get down to some real business in the Warehouse. »

This article may contain spoilers. With a nice touch of foreshadowing in .Implosion,. MacPherson (Roger Rees) had told Artie (Saul Rubinek) that he found Myka (Joanne Kelly) and Pete (Eddie McClintock) so raw, untrained and corruptible. This, unfortunately, proved prophetic. This week we found Myka and Pete on opposite ends of the planet, with Myka in Berlin and Pete in Montreal, both following leads to locate MacPherson. While Myka turned up empty-handed, Pete hit the bulls-eye. In what should have been an easy snag-him and bag-him retrieval of MacPherson, Pete found the tables turned on him as MacPherson simply pulled out a set of tiny cymbals and clanged them together. The shockwave killed everyone within hearing distance. It was simply good luck that Pete managed to cover his ears ... »

I think actor-turned-director Jacob Tierney pretty much hit the nail on the head for what should be a Canadian-Actors dream team, albeit a small one. To support headliner Jay Baruchel are Colm Feore, the hilarious Saul Rubinek, Genevieve Bujold (who looks So old now...), the freaky-eyed Michael Murphy and the drop-dead gorgeous Jessica Paré. The Trotsky, which recently made the rounds at the Toronto Film Fest, stars Baruchel as a high... »

Folks, here's your first look at the Jay Baruchel pinko comedy The Trotsky which premiered at Tiff. All the reviews I've found are positive, and along with the big chip on my shoulder against communism and my love for Baruchel, this should be hella fun.
Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel) is not your average Montreal West high school student. For one thing, none of his peers can claim to be the reincarnation of early 20th century Soviet iconoclast and Red Army hero, Leon Trotsky. When his father (Saul Rubinek) sends Leon to public school as punishment for starting a hunger strike at Papa’s clothing factory, Leon quickly lends new meaning to the term “student union,” determined as he is to live out his pre-ordained destiny to the fullest and change the world.

It's changeover time in the television schedules, which means that we have premieres to look forward to and season finales that will tease us for months to come.
In the case of Syfy, the top of the anticipation list includes the second season premiere of Sanctuary and the series premiere of Sgu: Stargate Universe (I've seen it and it's not your father's Stargate, but it's pretty cool). There are also season-ending episodes of Syfy's record breaking hit Warehouse 13 and Eureka and we have video previews of both. Click the Video tabs above to get a taste of what's to come.
Eureka is an offbeat, science fiction comedy-drama that is centered on the residents of a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Shrouded in secrecy, the picturesque hamlet is actually a community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they've unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen… »

The star and creator of NBC's new comedy talk about the first season
With the new fall TV season getting into full swing, there are few shows as anticipated as the new NBC comedy Community, which premieres on Thursday, September 17 at 9:30 Pm Et on NBC. The star of this new series, Joel McHale recently joined creator/executive producer Dan Harmon on a conference call to talk about this new series and here's what they had to say.
Joel, let me ask you, what was the appeal of this project for you?
Joel McHale: Oh, well, I read a lot of pilot scripts and always, you know, want to be in something that involves, you know, involved in something that's good and read - after reading Dan's script it was so head and shoulders above everything else that I was reading. And it had - I just, first and »

The Trotsky Written and directed by Jacob Tierney Starring: Jay Baruchel, Colm Feore, Saul Rubinek, Genevieve Bujold, and Emily Hampshire There's nothing like a good movie about Marxism and fascism. Montreal born director Jacob Tierney has made quite an amusing film here. Jay Baruchel (Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder) stars as teenager Leon Bronstein and he truly believes that he is the reincarnation of Bolshevik and Marxist theorist Leon Trotsky. Why do you ask? Well, for one Leon Bronstein was the given name to Leon Trotsky and this kid has a big thing for workers rights and unions. He thinks his life should parallel Trotsky's life so much that he plans on being exiled, at least twice, and ultimately assassinated. At the moment though, he's quite focused on finding his Lenin and an older woman to marry, preferably named Alexandra. We get a good glimpse of what this kid is all about when, »

First there was Area 51, the top secret government storage facility in the desert for unexplained and alien objects. Now follows Warehouse 13, a declassified building in South Dakota housing various creepy and powerful artefacts from the past. Whatever next? Cupboard 22? Presumably located next to a nice set of drawers in deepest, darkest Croydon. Anyway, this feature length pilot for the Sci Fi Channel's latest endeavour is a very patchy affair that fails to make a wholly convincing case for sticking with the series. The story follows two Us government agents - the intuitive Pete (Eddie McClintock) and meticulous Myka (Joanne Kelly) - as they are whisked out of their normal duties having foiled a presidential assassination and sent to work for the eccentric Artie (Saul Rubinek) in the aforementioned warehouse. The beleaguered pair are then quickly dispatched to Iowa to investigate (more) »

You know that guy you’ve seen a heap of movies recently? Usually playing a gangly, nervy guy custom made for glasses? … you know who I mean, he’s that guy from Tropic Thunder, Fanboys and that’s right … Knocked Up, Million Dollar Baby, & so on.
His name is Jay Baruchel, he is Canadian and in another cool-looking project called ‘The Trotsky‘ playing the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky, the revolutionary renegade hero from the early 1900s.
Jay Baruchel stars as Leon Bronstein in 'The Trotsky', an Alliance Films' release.
The film is written and directed by Jacob Tierney and Montreal indie rock-band Malajube has been tapped to score the soundtrack. The words Tilda Swinton and knockout performance are nearly always within the same sentence these days. Powerful and complex roles, including a career best (and Oscar winning) performance in the excellent Michael Clayton, are coming thick and fast for the Scottish wonder woman. However, the unconventionally beautiful, almost androgynous, actress was hand picked by director Erick Zonda for the role of a down and out self obsessed, alcoholic, one night standing tumbleweed because “She resembles a broken bird..." Watching his third film, the Cassevettes inspired Julia, you begin to realise exactly what he means. The film opens in bar where the lanky red headed Julia prowls and grinds awkwardly around the place, picks a man and wakes up with him in his car. We instantly get the feeling, which is backed up over the films first 20 minutes, that this is par for the course for old Julia and she's shortly »

This article may contain spoilers. On the heels of last week.s blow-up adventure in Washington, D.C. where Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) were ambushed by implosion grenades and a villain out of Artie.s (Saul Rubinek) past, this week we had a bit of fun Vegas-style. It started innocuously enough with Pete play ping-pong with himself using the infamous Lewis Carroll mirror. But, with the inadvertent crash of the Studio 54 Disco Ball, Myka was caught in the cross-fire of two artifacts reacting to each other and a whole lot of escapades ensued. In hindsight, the song .I Will Survive,. which played when the disco ball was lit-up, proved only too prophetic as the Studio 54 Ball, which was cursed to reflect trapped desires, projected those yearnings and cravings onto everyone ... »

Chicago – Tilda Swinton, Oscar winner for “Michael Clayton,” gives the best female performance of the year to date in the riveting, thrilling, excellent “Julia,” now available on DVD and one of the best films of 2009 that you probably haven’t seen. The lack of special features on the Magnolia-produced DVD (and its lack of existence on Blu-Ray) is a bet of a let-down but the film is an underrated gem that should find a loyal audience on the home market.
DVD Rating: 4.0/5.0 Swinton plays the title character, a woman who has turned alcoholism, self-pity, and general confusion into an art form. Julia is the kind of raging drinker who regularly blacks out and wakes up half-dressed in a stranger’s car. She’s one of those women who always blames the world for not giving her a lucky break but doesn’t recognize that her own decisions are tearing her life apart. »
