Britney Spears Opens Her Mouth About Aussie Lip-Syncing Debacle

12 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Why are Australian newspapers trying to rain on Britney Spears' circus? Last weekend, Oz's Daily Telegraph published a story about the pop tart's recent concerts, accusing her of lip-syncing and claiming fans were unhappy and called her boring. The show's promoter said the star was aware of the reviews and "extremely upset by it." Now, all these days later, she's "upset" enough to release an official comment. "I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show," she said in a statement to the Agence France Presse. "Some reporters have said they love it and some don't. I came to Australia for my fans!" Those priorities sound... »

Spotted: Rihanna Runs This Town

13 hours ago | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

The press push continues for Rihanna, who is coming off her big interview with Diane Sawyer last week and currently making the rounds in New York. She stopped by "It's On with Alexa Chung" on Monday (with the entire half-hour show devoted to her) and she also sat down with Sway to talk about her big collaborations, how she feels about Chris Brown and some stories behind her upcoming album Rated R (which stands for "Rihanna," not "Restricted"). Yesterday, she was spotted on the street outside the Gramercy Park Hotel, looking cool and fashion-forward as always (that is an excellent hat). She has »

Carrie Underwood will score her second #1 debut in a row next week, when her third album, Play On, tops the Billboard 200 chart, thanks to sales of 318,000. While the strong debut was cause for celebration, sales were more than 200,000 below the first week bid for the former "American Idol" champ's smash 2007 Carnival Ride disc, which moved more than 527,000 in its first week.

Regardless, the numbers were more than enough to beat out the #2 album, the soundtrack to "Michael Jackson's This Is It," which will slip from the top perch in its second week thanks to a nearly 50 percent dip to 196,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. But the double disc of mostly previously released material from the late pop star has easily crossed the half-million mark in »

11 November 2009 1:00 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Director Robin Hardy was present for a screening of his 1973 film The Wicker Man and a 10-minute clip of his upcoming feature The Wicker Tree at the 92nd St. Y in Tribeca on All Hallows Eve. Once heralded as the “Citizen Kane of Horror Films,” by Cinefantastique Magazine, The Wicker Man remains relevant today with its nod towards an outwardly polite and perfect community obfuscating malignant religious fanaticism and featuring the age-old fight between pagans and Christians.

The Wicker Man follows the good Police Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) as he attempts to uncover the whereabouts of a missing girl last seen on Summerisle in Scotland, a beautiful, private island filled with song, ritual, and customs from a time long, long ago. Howie bears witness to many instances of bizarre behavior: outdoor orgies under a moonlit sky; a naked woman in a cemetery, weeping with her chest pressed against her beloved »

Australians: Last People to Find Out Britney Spears Lip Synchs

10 November 2009 2:45 PM, PST | www.actressarchives.com | See recent Actress Archives news »

On Friday, concertgoers in Perth, Australia stormed out of a Britney Spears concert at the Burswood Dome because they were disappointed that Spears was lip-synching. We're disappointed to learn that, apparently, nobody in Perth has turned on a television in 10 years and figured out that that's what Britney does. Seriously, getting upset about lip-synching at a Britney Spears concert is like getting upset that the costumes are a little flashy at a Cher concert.Fans were also upset that Britney apparently didn't coddle them very much, never directly mentioning the city of Perth. (Of course she didn't mention it, she probably had no idea where ... »

Spotted: The Cast Of 'Glee' Lets Loose

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

In a typical television season, there are usually only two or three decent shows mixed among a giant glut of non-starters. But this season has been different, having already delivered the sharp comedy "Modern Family," the excellent sci-fi remake "V" and the inconsistent but interesting psychodrama "Flash Forward." Of course, there is still plenty of garbage out there — just watch 30 seconds of "Accidentally on Purpose" for proof. By far this season's breakout new show is "Glee," the witty, biting comedy that skews high school life, theater geeks and pop music in a rapid-fire stew that is pretty irresistible. Jedward's success damages them, Cowell and The X Factor

Simon Cowell's decision keeps John and Edward in the competition – but it might backfire

More than 3,000 complain over Jedward verdict

"If they win, it will be a complete and utter disaster. I'd probably sulk for about six months and I'd probably get on a very fast plane out of the country." Oh Simon Cowell, what a difference a week and a half (and a bucketload of press for John and Edward) makes. Suddenly The X Factor twins' inability to do much more than grumble over a tune and jump around in a misguided attempt at dancing looks decidedly more attractive.

We are not unfond of Jedward on this blog – particularly when they are prancing about to Britney Spears in shiny red suits. But the judges, Louis excepted, have reacted with a mixture of disbelief and exasperation to the twins, admitting that they are fun, but also madly out of their depth. »
