Meanwhile, star Sara Rue has confirmed on her Twitter that the show is indeed being canceled by the network. "Yes, it's true and what a sad day on the set of Eastwick ... thanks to all who watched and those who continue to do so through the 13 eps. Xoxo," she wrote. Ugly Betty May Steal Eastwick Slot From Lost

Not even Jerry O'Connell's bare backside could save it. Despite Joc telling us he was just shooting some "sexy scenes" last night on the set of Eastwick, the news has broken that his wife Rebecca Romijn's series is a goner. ABC has confirmed that no new episodes will be produced beyond the original 13-episode commitment. So this means Lost is a shoo-in to come back to Wednesday nights, right? Maybe not. ABC insiders tell me another series might be headed for that cushy slot, and its star happens to rock a mean Guadalajara poncho... ABC Not Ordering Additional Eastwick Episodes

9 November 2009 11:00 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Instead of flat-out just saying they're canceling the series "Eastwick", ABC is beating about the bush with reports that they've "decided not to order additional episodes" beyond its initial 13. Seven of them have aired with the remaining six scheduled to be shown after a two-week break for some special programming on the network.

As the La Times put it: "Eastwick" has often [been] averaging less than 5 million viewers. The show, which stars Rebecca Romijn and Lindsey Price, is based on the John Updike book. While it spawned a moderately successful movie, this is the third time an attempt to make a TV series based on the book has fallen short.

Does anyone remember the other two? If not, it's no surprise since neither made it past the pilot stage. We did a little digging for old time's sake. The first was in 1992 and kept the full "The Witches of Eastwick" title. »

CinemaSpy's Week-End TV Recap (Nov. 7)

7 November 2009 9:05 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Many television viewers — and pop culture critics — are wondering just what's up with Fox's Fringe. Watchers of the show were caught unaware this past week, not realizing that the network was airing a new episode of the skein until they read about it the next day in various news outlets. Fringe simply wasn't in the listings. People's DVRs didn't pick up the show, because Fox was listed as running Game 7 of the World Series. People believed that the show would be absent one more week.

All of this is raising serious questions about how seriously Fox is treating the show, or indeed, if they're trying to kill it. The Thursday night time slot was their first error in judgment, but lapses in playing to the viewer base by neglecting to promote episodes and air times is something else entirely.

The impression left is that Fox used first-run programming as a backup to a sporting event. »

Eastwick 1.07 "Red Ants and Black Widows" Recap

5 November 2009 3:59 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Eastwick was kind of tame for me this week. I could blame it on the craziness that has been my life for the past couple of days, but I only was interested in one storyline this week and that stroyline involved Kat, Bun, and Eleanor. So let's start with them first.

The Mythology Thickens

Eleanor (guest star Cybil Shepherd) cooks breakfast in her shack when an ad for Eastwick Wines appears on the TV with Darryl in the commercial. He seems to send a message to Eleanor, but the site of Darryl is enough to send Eleanor running out of her cabin and into the road where she is almost hit by a Mack 1o truck.

Meanwhile, it's Kat's turn with the kids and Rj injures Emily resulting in a nasty cut. When Kat rubs some antibiotic on the cut with her finger, the cut magically disappears. Emily thinks it is cool, »

After The Dark Knight, here come the Dark X-Men...

2 November 2009 7:27 AM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Marvel Comics' team the X-Men debuted way back in September 1963 and have since evolved into many different line-ups and series, as well as three animated TV shows and a franchise of hit films.

The latest mutation of the enduring superheroes is Dark X-Men, a five-issue miniseries which debuts on November 11.

Written by Paul Cornell and illustrated by Leonard Kirk, the roster consists of Mystique, Dark Beast, Weapon Omega and Mimic.

Mystique is a shapeshifter, who was played in the movies by Rebecca Romijn; Weapon Omega can absorb the energy, personalities and abilities of other mutants, and can fly and fire blasts of energy; Mimic is permanently able to duplicate the powers of the five original X-Men; and Dark Beast is an evil, alternative reality version of the furry, animalistic Beast (who was played in the third X-Men film by Kelsey Grammer).
