Nevertheless, Paramount never stops teasing us with new updates that, despite their lightheartedness, actually provide a lot of interesting details that fans actively start speculating about. For example, a new set video featuring the cast of Evolution was recently released, and despite its playful tone, the video was surprisingly insightful. It showed us the return of a rather controversial character who is sure to cause a lot of drama at Bau.

Paramount has rebooted Criminal Minds, and starting in November 2022, we were once again immersed in the story of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) agents as they grappled with criminal minds and personal lives. Now, the story has taken an even darker turn, it has been released in a streaming format rather than the traditional TV broadcast one, and the show itself has been subtitled as Evolution. And before we knew it, a new season was already in production (the second season of Evolution and the seventeenth since Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005).
While fans wait in anticipation, the upcoming Season 17 has already had its fair share of details and speculation. Josh Stewart, who has played Will Lamontagne Jr. since Season 2, will be leaving the show, while many are sure that everyone's favorite Spencer Reid will be back, as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule has finally been cleared, and the...

The Bau is getting an assist from a Desperate Housewives alum.
TVLine reports that Felicity Huffman has closed a deal to guest star during Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, and her character has ties to the original series.
Huffman is playing Dr. Jill Gideon, described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who winds up helping the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory.”
If that surname sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), so she has plenty of ties to the team.
Jill isn’t too fond of getting involved with the Bau because of her past, which concludes a “complicated history” with David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).
However, her expertise is needed because the team is struggling to crack open the Gold Star mystery.

Felicity Huffman is joining “Criminal Minds: Evolution” as a brilliant doctor.
Variety reports that the “Desperate Housewives” actress is joining the Season 2 cast of Paramount+’s serialized revival of the long-running CBS crime procedural.
Huffman will guest star as Dr. Jill Gideon. Gideon is described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist.” She’s the ex-wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), the former leader of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. She has a complicated history with her late ex-husband and his Bau successor David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), which makes her reluctant to get involved with the team’s investigation into the murderous and mysterious Gold Star conspiracy. But her skills could be the key to cracking the case, so she agrees to help.
Season 2 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is currently in production. The cast includes A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster.

Larry David’s popular HBO sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm is closing the book this season and the final year of the show has been in full swing. This year would also, unfortunately, see the passing of one of the show’s stars and close friend of Larry David, Richard Lewis. As the show makes its final run, it would continue to bring on guest appearances of certain actors to play over-the-top versions of themselves. David would previously have hilarious clashes with famous guest stars like Shaquille O’Neal, Michael J. Fox and the Seinfeld cast. This year brought in Full House star Lori Loughlin as she pokes fun at her college admissions scandal from 2019 (which would also involve Felicity Huffman).
Loughlin uses Larry as a sponsor to enter a country club as she loves to play golf, and hilariously, Loughlin hasn’t learned a thing from her experiences as she keeps cheating.

Felicity Huffman is still working out how she feels about life after her 2019 criminal conviction. The former Desperate Housewives star told The Guardian this week that things have “been hard” following her return to work after the college admissions scandal that dominated headlines five years ago.
“How I am is kind of a loaded question,” she said. “I guess I’m still processing.”
In 2019, Huffman pled guilty to paying $15,000 for an Sat score to aid her eldest daughter’s college admission. Her conviction was one of several at the heart of an admissions scandal nicknamed Operation Varsity Blues by the FBI. She later served 11 days in prison, paid a $30,000 fine and completed 250 hours of community service.
Huffman spoke to The Guardian from the set of Hir, a Taylor Mac play currently running at London’s Park Theatre. Huffman portrays the show’s protagonist, marking her most public return to performing since the conviction.

Felicity Huffman, who was nominated for an Oscar for playing a trans woman in 2005’s “Transamerica,” wouldn’t take on such a role again.
It’s a role that she “wouldn’t be able to do now,” Huffman told The Guardian. “I think we should reflect the audience and that’s got to include everybody. There has been such inequity for so long and now the pendulum must swing the other way. But I hope it leads to a situation where anyone can play anything.”
Huffman was asked about meeting trans actor Alexandra Billings, who was due to play the lead in “Transamerica” initially, at an awards ceremony. “I have no memory of that,” Huffman told The Guardian. “As an excuse, I also have no oestrogen left in my body.”
In 2019, Huffman served 11 days in jail for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. “I walk into the room with it.

The beloved sitcom, which recently returned for a revival show that was neither disappointing nor remarkable, featured everyone from Patrick Stewart to Michael Keaton and almost the entire cast of "Cheers" — the show on which Frasier Crane himself debuted.
But there were also a ton of major guest appearances that we never got to see. Dr. Crane famously ran a call-in talk radio show on Seattle's Kacl station, where he would dole out life advice to embattled residents of the Emerald City, many of whom were big-time celebrities. At one point Macaulay Culkin called Frasier's show as a self-conscious 43-year-old man who was concerned about his youthful voice. Then there was the time Helen Mirren sought Dr. Crane's advice about her kleptomania. But that's just the beginning of the sitcom's extensive list of unseen guest stars. In fact,...

Actress Felicity Huffman broke her silence about her role in the college admissions scandal dubbed “Varsity Blues.”
In an interview with CNN affiliate Kabc, Huffman, 50, addressed her role in the widespread criminal conspiracy, which led to her brief incarceration.
In 2019, a $25 million bribery and fraud scheme exposed 33 parents who paid to get their children into elite colleges through testing schemes or fake sports scholarships.
Huffman was accused of paying $15,000 to the scheme’s ringleader to improve her daughter’s Sat scores. Huffman pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
“People assume that I went into this looking for a way to cheat the system and making proverbial criminal deals in back alleys, but that was not the case,” Huffman said. “I worked with a highly recommended college counselor named Rick Singer.”

Years ago, television stars such as Full House‘s Lori Loughlin and Desperate Housewives‘ Felicity Huffman were caught playing a part in a college admissions scandal. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Huffman is breaking her silence for the first time and apologizes for partaking in the fraud in an interview for the Los Angeles-based ABC7 Eyewitness News. Per THR, the scandal was “dubbed Operation Varsity Blues by the FBI. As part of the fraud, parents allegedly paid millions in bribes to get their children into elite colleges like Yale, Stanford and the University of Southern California.” Lori Loughlin and her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli, were sentenced in the case, although Huffman’s spouse, actor William H. Macy, was not found to be involved.
In the interview, Huffman would apologize for “unlawfully disguising a $15,000 charitable donation in the bribery scheme so someone could take her daughter’s Sat exam.” She explained,...

Some TV shows are built to last, but The Good Doctor is not one of them.
The ABC medical drama kicked off in 2017 and delivered compelling cases. That's the bare minimum required for a medical drama nowadays, but the biggest problem for the series has been its inability to keep its cast.
Long-running shows tend to lose cast members as the years go on, but The Good Doctor has never really been able to bounce back from losses in the early seasons.
One of the most shocking -- and horrifically written -- exits involved Nicholas Gonzalez's hunky Dr. Neil Melendez succumbing to injuries he sustained in an earthquake.
It was very Grey's Anatomy, but unlike that show, The Good Doctor has struggled to find replacements for prominent characters who stand the test of time.
Killing Melendez was one of the most controversial deaths on TV in recent memory because...

Hill Harper will not be returning to “The Good Doctor” for the ABC procedural’s upcoming seventh season as he focuses on his U.S. Senate campaign.
Harper, who has starred as Dr. Marcus Andrews alongside Freddie Highmore on “The Good Doctor,” has thrown his hat in the ring to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate as a democratic candidate.
“Hill Harper feels strongly that there is a crisis in American democracy — too often, government only works for the rich and powerful while the rest of us struggle to find a voice,” a spokesperson for Hill’s campaign told TVLine, who first reported the news. “Hill is dedicating his efforts full time to fixing that, and he’s running for the U.S. Senate as an active union member to give working people more of a voice in Congress.”

With the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes over, ABC is looking ahead to 2024, and sadly, it's bad news for fans of The Rookie Feds and The Good Lawyer.
The network confirmed late Thursday that The Rookie: Feds had been canceled after a single season, while The Good Doctor spinoff would not be getting a formal series order.
The news for both projects is a bit of a surprise, but given the network's now-stacked midseason slate, these kinds of decisions are expected in the coming weeks.
The Rookie: Feds launched last fall on ABC to a tepid response and middling ratings.
Niecy Nash headlined the spinoff, which was paired with The Rookie at midseason, leading to some of both shows best numbers.
The series also benefited from a robust digital footprint, signaling that while there was interest in the show, many of the viewers weren't interested in watching live.

More fallout from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. ABC has opted not to proceed with The Good Lawyer, its planned legal spinoff from The Good Doctor that was going to be toplined by Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman.
The network had delayed pickup decisions on two spinoffs, bubble drama series The Rookie: Feds and the Good Lawyer pilot. Today, the call was made, and neither is moving forward.
The Good Lawyer originated as a Good Doctor planted spinoff, with the backdoor pilot airing as an episode of the hit medical drama last spring. It was well received, with ABC brass high on McMann and Huffman’s performances.
The options on the cast were up August 15. Because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the hold period was extended for the duration of the work stoppage, so ABC had another month to make a decision on The Good Lawyer.
As Deadline has reported, the longer the strikes went past Labor Day, the longer the odds were for outstanding series to get a pickup. ABC also canceled Home Economics at the end of September.
ABC had planned to launch The Good Lawyer this coming spring as the broadcasting networks are running out of shelf space as they try to accomodate all of their popular returning scripted series.
For that reason, ABC in late September opted to push its only new scripted series, the one-hour High Potential to next fall. That project, starring Kaitlin Olson, is the only ABC 2023 pilot to get a series order.
The Good Lawyer, from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, was written by The Good Doctor co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman. In the backdoor pilot episode, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer, Joni DeGroot (McMann) who has obsessive compulsive disorder.

ABC’s The Rookie: Feds has been canceled after one season.
A decision on whether the network would renew the freshman drama led by Niecy Nash-Betts was delayed for months amid the ongoing dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, both of which have recently concluded. It’s not a great day for spinoffs at ABC. The network has axed “The Rookie: Feds” after one season and will not move forward with “The Good Doctor” spinoff, “The Good Lawyer.”
The spinoff of ABC’s “The Rookie,” which was renewed for a sixth season, stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy. The procedural was introduced as a two-part event during the current fourth season of “The Rookie,” where Officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and the LA division of the FBI enlist the help of Simone when one of her former students is a suspect in a terror attack.
Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter are co-creators, co-showrunners and executive producers. Mark Gordon, Niecy Nash-Betts, Nathan Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross, Corey Miller, Michael Goi and Bibby Dunn are executive producers. Entertainment One (eOne) is the lead studio and international distributor of “The Rookie: Feds,...

ABC has firmed up its post-strike needs.
The Disney-owned broadcast network has canceled The Rookie: Feds and opted to pass on The Good Doctor spinoff, The Good Lawyer.
Both shows had been on hold since May as ABC, like other networks, took a wait-and-see approach to its needs once both the actors and writers strikes concluded.
With actors poised to join writers back at work in the coming days, ABC now has a firm picture of its schedule for what remains of the 2023-24 broadcast season. The Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes wiped out the September start and with production expected to resume in the coming weeks, ABC ultimately had no need for a second season of Feds, starring Niecy Nash-Betts. The series, like the already renewed flagship, is a co-production between Disney’s ABC Signature and outside studio Entertainment One.

John Stamos is speaking about the moment he learned about the infamous college admissions scandal.
In his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, the actor speaks about the moment he heard of the scandal and how Lori Loughlin, his Full House costar, was involved.
"Lori Loughlin continues to be a cherished friend to this day," John wrote, adding:
"We've weathered storms together and stood by each other's sides despite life's hurdles. We've seen each other at our worst."
Stamos recalled reaching out to Loughlin as the scandal broke, with the Aunt Becky star saying her phone may have been bugged.
"No matter how hard she was hit, how desperate everyone was to cancel her and throw her in with the pile of brutal criminals," John added.
"She stood fast, protecting her daughters from the mud hurled at them day after day after day."
Stamos added his thanks for having such a lifelong friendship.

Burt Young, who played Paulie in six of the “Rocky” films starring Sylvester Stallone, drawing an Oscar nomination for supporting actor for his performance in the 1976 original, has died, his daughter Anne Morea Steingieser confirmed to the New York Times. He was 83.
Roger Ebert gave Young his props for his performance in the first “Rocky” film: “And Burt Young as (Adrian’s) brother — defeated and resentful, loyal and bitter, caring about people enough to hurt them just to draw attention to his grief.” The New York Times — in an absolutely scathing, completely dismissive review of the film — nevertheless said: “Burt Young is effective as Rocky’s best friend, a beer-guzzling mug.”
Young’s temperamental, jealous but nonetheless loyal and caring Paulie Pennino was Rocky’s best friend — he would defend the Italian Stallion if someone insulted him. But he was a problematic friend who shouts at Adrian during her pregnancy,...

Chace Crawford may play a villainous superhero on screen, but in real life, he’s fighting for good.
Crawford, who plays the narcissistic Deep on Amazon Prime’s The Boys, took part in the 38th annual Malibu Triathlon this weekend.
The triathlon, an endurance test on swimming, biking and running, was formed to support the Pediatric Cancer Research Programs at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
The cause is close to Crawford’s heart, as he told The Messenger that his grandfather had cancer and that it’s “heartbreaking and uplifting to hear the stories.”
“It was nice to always go and meet the kids and see everything,” Crawford said. “It’s just a really, really important cause, and they do great work here.”
According to Malibu’s Chamber of Commerce website, Crawford is not the only celebrity it has attracted. In the past years, they have welcomed Tom Cruise,...
