It’s the Back to You reunion we’ve all been waiting for.
Patricia Heaton will reunite with former co-star Kelsey Grammer during Season 2 of Paramount+’s Frasier revival. According to our sister site Deadline, Heaton will play Holly, who is described as “down-to-earth, unpretentious and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier finds as alien as he does attractive.”

Exclusive: Patricia Heaton is returning to television — and to filming in front of a live studio audience — with a guest-starring arc in the second season of Paramount+ Frasier.
On the followup to the Emmy-winning comedy, she will play Holly who is down-to-earth, unpretentious, and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier (Grammer) finds as alien as he does attractive.
This marks a reunion for sitcom royalty Heaton and Grammer, who headlined the 2007 Fox multi-camera comedy Back to You, created by Modern Family‘s Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd. Grammer subsequently guest starred on Heaton’s CBS show Carol’s Second Act; with the Emmy-winning stars playing exes both times.

Eddie Vedder Joins Harrison Butker Critics Following NFL Kicker’s Divisive College Graduation Speech
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and an order of nuns at Benedictine College can be added to the growing list of those denouncing the divisive commencement speech given by Kansas Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker at Benedictine College last week.
At a sold-out Las Vegas Pearl Jam concert on Saturday at the MGM Grand, Vedder joined Butker naysayers — including the National Football League — in denouncing the speech where Butker condemned abortion, euthanasia, IVF, surrogacy and the LGBTQ community. He also denounced the “diabolical lies told to women,” suggesting that enforcing traditional gender roles is the better route.
After the concert’s opener, “Deep Sea Diver,” warmed up the Vegas crowd, Vedder thanked the band, led by singer Jessica Dobson and featuring Patti King on keyboards.
“That’s some good men and good women making up a great band,” Vedder said of the Seattle rock band. The singer, Jessica, and the keyboard player,...

Exclusive: 20th Century Studios has acquired an original feature pitch from Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern (Booksmart), enlisting Gloria Sanchez to produce.
While plot specifics under wraps, the project is described as a mother-daughter comedy with two strong female roles.
On the film side, Haskins and Halpern most recently penned 80 for Brady, the comedy starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field, which Paramount released last year. They’re perhaps best known for scripting Booksmart, the BAFTA and WGA Award-nominated 2019 comedy directed by Olivia Wilde.
Creators of the CBS show Carol’s Second Act, starring Patricia Heaton, as well as the ABC sitcom Trophy Wife, the pair are currently under an overall deal in television at CBS Studios. Nominated for an Emmy for their work on staff of ABC’s Black-ish, they’ve also written on series like Good Girls (NBC), The Mayor (ABC) and Imaginary Mary (ABC), to name a few.

Until recently, filmmaker Jon Erwin was the reigning box-office champ for faith-based films with “I Can Only Imagine” and “Jesus Revolution.” Shortly after “Sound of Freedom” opened to $14.2 million, he offered advice to Angel Studios on how it might capitalize that success.
By November, when the child-trafficking drama grossed $250 million worldwide, Erwin lost his bragging rights. He remembers joking with the producers, “It wasn’t supposed to work this much!”
Ego aside, he welcomed the success. As “Sound of Freedom” inspired box-office think pieces and conspiracy-theory controversy, Erwin and partner Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten were in talks with Amazon Studios. Today, their company The Wonder Project is producing a slate of faith-based series and films; Erwin said he’d “be lying” if he believed “Sound of Freedom” didn’t help him get a better deal.
“I had not felt that hunger from the studios in a long time to reach the audience,...

What does "Cheers" and "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer have in common with the cast of "Bones"? A shared set. The beloved Fox crime series shared a set with a short-lived, oft-forgotten show that Grammer starred in between 2007 and 2008 titled "Back to You." Because both shows were Fox productions, the network made good use of a set that was built for Grammer's show but was then re-used for an episode of the fourth season "Bones."
The episode in question is "Man in the Outhouse," the third episode of "Bones" season 4, which aired in 2008. As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, the TV set that we see in the episode for "Busted by Bill" was actually the same TV studio set that was used by Grammer and his co-star Patricia Heaton, of "Everybody Loves Raymond" fame, on their show "Back to You." Not coincidentally, that show wrapped up its very brief, one-season run earlier...

Kelsey Grammer Returns to Television with Back to You After the curtain fell on Frasier, Kelsey Grammer didn’t stray far from his television roots. He soon found himself back in the sitcom sphere with Back to You, alongside Patricia Heaton. This series was a testament to his enduring charm in the genre, despite the ever-changing landscape of television comedy. A Brief Stint on Hank The ABC sitcom Hank featured Grammer in the eponymous role, but it was a rare stumble in his otherwise successful television career. The show was short-lived, bowing out after only a few episodes, which stood in...

Television series don't always end on their own terms. Some of the greatest shows in the medium's history have been canceled due to low ratings before they could finish telling their overarching story or just as they were hitting their stride creatively. Some of the most egregious examples of series getting the axe before their time include "My So-Called Life," "Arrested Development," "Frank's Place," "Sports Night," "I'll Fly Away," "Deadwood," and "Mindhunters." It's possible no one has had a more brutal small-screen run than Judd Apatow, who, before he became a hit-making film producer, watched helplessly as three superb, critically acclaimed comedies — "The Ben Stiller Show," "Freaks and Geeks" and "Undeclared" — failed to earn a second season.
Sometimes, fan enthusiasm results in these works getting revived in some incarnation or another, and, unfortunately, the results are often unsightly. But at least there's a reason for going back. The same isn't...

“Everybody Loves Raymond” will not be getting a reboot, according to Ray Romano.
On “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Romano addressed the possibility of a reboot, saying, “As far as a reboot, well, it’s now out of the question because unfortunately the parents are gone: Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts.”
Boyle and Roberts portrayed Romano’s parents Frank and Marie Barone on the sitcom. Roberts died in 2016, while Boyle died in 2006, shortly after the show ended.
“They’re never as good,” Romano said of reboots. “We want to leave with our legacy with what it is.”
The news of no revival is a departure from other shows like “Night Court,” “Frasier” and “Roseanne,” which have all gotten their respective reboots in recent years.
Created by Philip Rosenthal, TV sitcom series “Everybody Loves Raymond” aired from 1996 to 2005. Romano starred as the Italian American Raymond “Ray” Barone, a Newsday sportswriter who lives with his wife,...

Young Sheldon is one of the best and most beloved family sitcoms out there. The CBS series started as a spin-off of the hit sitcom series The Big Bang Theory and follows the early life of one of the main characters of the original series. There have been many sitcoms about precocious kids but none of them are similar to Young Sheldon. Young Sheldon recently concluded its Season 6 and while you wait for Season 7 here are some similar shows that you should check out next.
The Big Bang Theory (Max) Credit – CBS
Synopsis: Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of “beautiful minds” that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Combat veterans, famously, don’t tend to talk much, if at all, about their experiences of war. At least not to civilians, and maybe not even to their closest relatives. Knowing this, those of us who aren’t veterans tend to have ideas about the things they aren’t discussing. Things like violence and fear and the chaos and insanity of battle. That’s surely a part of it, but in a way it’s also the heightened cinematic version, the one we’ve all gotten from war movies. What it leaves out are the torn-up emotions of soldiers, the lifelong imprint left upon them not just by the cataclysm of war but by their relationship with their fellow soldiers — the loyalty and love, the complex code of liberation and guilt at having survived.
“Mending the Line” is a drama about two veterans and their relationship to the combat experience,...

"If you're gonna fish, don't do it alone." Blue Fox Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Mending the Line, directed by Joshua Caldwell. This premiered at a few festivals in 2022, and is opening this summer. Mending the Line is a story about finding something to make living worthwhile. John Cotler, a wounded veteran, returns home still carrying the demons of war, hauntingly disturbed by the everyday expectations of friendships and love interests. In Livingston, Montana, he meets Ike, a surly, headstrong fly-fisherman more than twice his age, and Lucy, a talented photographer turned librarian who reads aloud to veterans, both struggling in their own way. Colter wants only to re-enlist, to have something to die for. But the real challenge is finding something to live for. Brian Cox stars with Sinqua Walls, Perry Mattfeld, Chris Galust, Patricia Heaton, & Wes Studi. This looks better than it sounds,...

It was clear the days of the Big Four networks dominating the Emmys were slowly coming to an end 20 years ago; however, despite cable networks starting to gain momentum (with two receiving their first major wins), NBC and CBS still made a strong showing at the 55th Emmy Awards on September 21, 2003. HBO came into the night with a strong 53 major nominations, while NBC had 38 and CBS had 28; in the end, HBO and CBS tied with eight majors awards each and NBC trailed with six. Garry Shandling opened the event with a comedic monologue, while numerous presenters, including Ellen DeGeneres, George Lopez, Conan O’Brien, Martin Short and Wanda Sykes, carried the rest of the show without a host. Read on for our Emmys flashback 20 years ago to 2003.

The Buzz turns out to be true. Pixar and Disney are bringing out Toy Story 5, returning Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the new film.
The announcement follows last year’s release of Lightyear, which saw Chris Evans voice the character. The film, billed as the animated character’s origin story, was generally considered a bust, and Allen’s absence was felt. He had been voicing Buzz Lightyear since the 1995 debut of the franchise.
Actress Patricia Heaton summed up the general feeling on Twitter, “Disney/Pixar made a Huge mistake in not casting my pal Tim Allen. Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns. Tim Is Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?”
But all is apparently forgiven, and Allen posted an excited tweet on his return.
See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity.

Leave it to a sitcom vet like Melissa Rauch to remind the industry that everything old can be new again. After persuading Warner Bros. TV to dust off the Night Court IP and revive it for NBC, multi-cams are suddenly hot again, with every broadcast network — and even a few streamers like Netflix are putting studio audience comedies in development.
While no one is straight-up abandoning single-cams — the success of CBS’ Ghosts and ABC’s Abbott Elementary have certainly made sure of that — there’s no beating the cost-effectiveness of one of TV’s most tried and true genres.
“Everybody had a hunch they should probably be doing more of them,” says one high-powered comedy agent. “Night Court is a good sign there is an appetite for that. Everything I’m hearing out of CBS, for example, is that...

With individual notices for “Ozark” and “Inventing Anna” and an ensemble bid for the former likely coming her way, Julia Garner is poised to pick up more Screen Actors Guild Award nominations in 2023 than any other performer. Being singled out for her turns on both Netflix series would not only make the 28-year-old the ninth dual TV contender in SAG Awards history, but also the youngest person in general to ever be individually nominated by the guild for multiple performances at once.
Garner’s work as the morally complex criminal Ruth Langmore on “Ozark” has already brought her two SAG Award nominations each for Best TV Drama Ensemble and Best TV Drama Actress (2019 and 2021). Seventeen years ago, “Everybody Loves Raymond” pulled off a rare feat at the 2005 Emmys when it won Best Comedy Series for a second time non-consecutively. Usually in this specific category, if the Emmys like you they really like you, and they give you the trophy year after year. In fact, “Raymond” is the only comedy series of the modern era to not follow this pattern. Can “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” now follow in its footsteps?
CBS’s dearly departed family sitcom initially prevailed in 2003 for its seventh season, then it lost in 2004 to Fox newcomer “Arrested Development.” In 2005, “Everybody Loves Raymond” rebounded with a second and final victory for its farewell season. That was quite a shocker indeed as it took down, among others, ABC’s freshman ratings juggernaut “Desperate Housewives.”

Add “Toy Story” star Tom Hanks to the list of people who wanted to see original Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen return to the Pixar franchise for the Buzz spinoff film “Lightyear.”
In an interview with CinemaBlend to promote his new film, “Elvis,” Hanks was asked whether or not it felt strange to compete with “Lightyear” at the box office, since Hanks, who voiced Woody, helped the “Toy Story” franchise gross more than 3 billion worldwide since 1995.
“Actually, I wanted to go head-to-head with Tim Allen, and then they didn’t let Tim Allen do it. I don’t understand that,” Hanks said of his onscreen buddy. The new film replaced Allen with “Avengers” star Chris Evans as the boastful space ranger and Disney put the Captain America actor at the forefront of its marketing campaign.
When the interviewer then mentioned Evans’ popularity, Hanks responded, “Yeah, yeah, I know. But...
