Producers Steven Kaplan and Gregg Daniel have teamed with entrepreneur Richard Katz to form Rainstorm Entertainment, an Encino-based independent film production company. The privately financed Rainstorm is currently involved in the Steve Anderson-directed dark comedy The Big Empty with Echo Lake Prods and Aura Entertainment. The film -- starring Jon Favreau, Rachael Leigh Cook, Kelsey Grammer, Daryl Hannah, Sean Bean, Adam Beach and Joey Lauren Adams -- is in postproduction. The company will also be executive producing Clint Hutchison's Ginger and Jack, which is casting. In addition, Rainstorm has inked a three-picture deal with Anderson as well as a two-picture deal with Hutchison and Lance Dreesen, who co-directed the 2000 project Terror Tract with Hutchison.
