About 150 people attended the funeral for Shannon Vincel, the 46-year-old breast cancer patient from Missouri who police say was beaten to death Monday night outside a Zion, Illinois, hospital, after receiving treatment. James Francis, director of Lupton Chapel in St. Louis, where Vincel was laid to rest, tells People the occasion was somber as mourners "express[ed] sentiments of how tragic and senseless it was." Vincel's stepfather, Eugene Adam, delivered a eulogy, describing her as a person who "loved people - and people loved her," Francis says. Vincel's family also issued a statement to the Chicago Tribune, writing: "Shannon was an outgoing,...

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is adding a new major character that will has an interesting history with Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel). Peter Francis James has been cast in the role of Dr. Aldus Boardman, a character that does not appear in the comics and appears to have been created uniquely for the TV series. James will first appear as Boardman in this fall’s major Arrow crossover with The Flash, which will help lead into Legends of Tomorrow. According to Comicbook.com, which first broke the casting news, Warner Bros. Television describes Boardman as “a Classics professor at St. Roch University, who has devoted his life to researching the story of Chayara (Hawkgirl) and Prince Khufu (Hawkman) and their link to Vandal Savage. Professor Boardman is our team’s only hope of finding Vandal and destroying him, so they can return home. But when the Legends learn a secret about Boardman,...

Founded by frontman Christian "Xian Amatory" Peppas, Brooklyn-based quintet The Amatory Murder bring together elements of gothic and industrial rock, post-punk and '80s-style synthpop to call forth what they describe as “the dynamic emotional cyclone of rage, love, doubt and fear.” That's a pretty heavy order for a band that's only been on the radar for a few years, but in that time they've drawn a strong underground following, thanks in part to their emotionally powerful roof-raising anthems, darkly romantic club hits like “Lonely Boy,” and successful shows with gothic/industrial icons like Thrill Kill Kult and Left Spine Down; they've also impressed clubbers with their epic "Church of Murder" events, which the band has hosted and headlined at multiple New York venues. I got an advance listen to their upcoming Ep Exploiting Our Dreams (which is set to drop next Tuesday), and it's an intense and inviting taste...

Saving Private Ryan (Blu-Ray)Paramount Home Entertainment1998/Rated R/ 169 minsNow Available – List Price: $39.99Every now and then its nice to go back to an influential film especially if its by a filmmaker who continually re-invents himself. Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan came as a surprise to moviegoers in the summer of 1998. Though promoted as a simple story of a unit of GI's sent to locate the last surviving member of a family of serviceman, the film was actually a full blown war movie set against the WWII invasion of Normandy. The film marked Spielberg's second with his DreamWorks Pictures after leaving Universal as well as the second major success for the studio after Deep Impact a few weeks earlier. Critics and audiences knew Spielberg could handle gut wrenching drama after the success of Schindler's List in 1993, but could he do it again? This war movie not only proved that he could,...
