Netflix has picked up the worldwide rights, excluding China, to Sony’s action comedy “The Man From Toronto,” moving it from theatrical release to streaming as part of the first-look deal between the two studios.
The film stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson in a mix-up comedy in which a New York City screw-up is mistaken for the world’s deadliest assassin at an Airbnb rental apartment. It had previously been scheduled for theatrical release on August 12.
Patrick Hughes (“The Hitman’s Bodyguard”) directed the film from a screenplay by Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner. Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fode, Jencarlos Canela and Ellen Barkin also star with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch producing. Bill Bannerman, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth are executive producers.
As the sole major studio in Hollywood without an in-house streaming service, Sony signed a first-look deal in April 2021 making Netflix its main streaming partner.

Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to Sony Pictures’ action-comedy The Man from Toronto, starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, Deadline can confirm. The film previously scheduled for release in theaters on August 12 will now bow on the streamer in all territories apart from China (where Sony continues to control all rights) later this year. Sony will also retain home entertainment and linear TV windows.
The Man from Toronto watches as the world’s deadliest assassin (Harrelson) and New York’s biggest screw-up, Teddy (Hart), are mistaken for one another at an Airbnb rental. The acquisition stems from the deal Sony entered into with Netflix last year, which has given the streamer first-look at its direct-to-streaming movies. Also factoring into the calculus for the move was Netflix’s mega deal and relationship with Hart.
3000 Pictures’ Lady Chatterley’s Lover, starring Emma Corrin, Jack O’Connell and Matthew Duckett, was the first film announced under the Sony-Netflix first-look partnership,...

Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson’s action comedy “The Man From Toronto” is headed to Netflix, Variety has learned exclusively.
The Sony Pictures production, originally dated for an August theatrical release, has sold in a worldwide rights deal to the streamer in all territories, barring China. The transfer falls under the exclusive first-look deal Sony signed with Netflix last year, on the heels of its notable windowing agreement with the tech giant in 2021.
The film revolves around a case of a mistaken identity after the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the “man from Toronto” (Harrelson), and a stranger (played by Hart) run into each other at an Airbnb. Chaos soon follows as the assassin’s world comes crashing down on Hart. Netflix will release the film later this year.

Exclusive Update: Busy night for Jason Statham. He just parted company with Wme, the agency that signed him away from CAA early last year. Trying to get to the bottom of this, but it happened right on the heels of Statham exiting the Sony Pictures comedy The Man From Toronto, weeks before the film started production. Unclear if he will move quickly to another agency, but he will surely be courted after landing hits in Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the prehistoric shark hit Meg.

Generations of horror hounds were ushered into the genre via R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books. Siting atop the shelves of libraries around the world with their vibrantly colored spines just waiting to be grabbed by young readers, the influential series is being brought to the big screen by Columbia Pictures next summer, and a meme maker for the upcoming feature reveals familiar faces from the page that will create scares onscreen.
The Goosebumps meme maker is now available for fans to use. The online workshop allows users to take official images from the film and write original captions to display in memes. Many of the images show monsters from the film that fans will recognize from several Goosebumps series. An evil ventriloquist dummy who’s brought to life when the magic words are spoken, Slappy appeared in the Night of the Living Dummy saga of the original Goosebumps series, becoming one of the most well-recognized and creepy villains to readers of R. L. Stine’s books. Now that a Goosebumps movie is filming, those same readers are eager to learn what monsters will be featured in the movie, and should be pleased with the new film stills.
In these first few images, we get another look at Jack Black as R. L. Stine, but we also get to see creatures other than the zombies shown in previously unveiled photos. Slappy the Dummy is shown looking very similar to how he was portrayed on the Goosebumps covers, with his black hair, wide eyes, and red bow tie. He’s behind the wheel of a car, which could make for one wild ride.

Slappy the Dummy, Monster Blood, the HorrorLand clan: these are just a few antagonists from R. L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps book series that may still send a nostalgic shiver down your spine. Though we don’t know for certain which creatures will appear in the upcoming Goosebumps movie, there’s a good chance we’ll find out during Comic-Con, as a panel featuring clips of the monster creation process for the Goosebumps film has been announced, with Jack Black as one of the guests.
Columbia Pictures will have a Goosebumps movie panel at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom on Thursday, July 24th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm with director Rob Letterman and the actor who will portray R. L. Stine: Jack Black. According to Deadline, the two panelists, who have previously collaborated on Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels, will reveal clips of the monster-making process.

The feature film version of Goosebumps, starring Jack Black as R.L. Stine, recently started filming and was originally set for an early 2016 release date. Usually, we report on movies being delayed, but fans will be happy to hear that they’ll be able to see this movie much earlier than originally planned.
Goosebumps will now be released on August 7th, 2015, which puts it on the same date as Assassin’s Creed from Fox. We also have word (via The Wrap) that Timothy Simons and Amanda Lund have joined the cast that includes Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Jillian Bell, Ryan Lee, and Ken Marino.
“In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and...

A sneak peek at the DVD/Blu-ray special features for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has been unveiled. Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment released the two minute clip - presumably a portion of the 6-part Making-of Documentary discussed in this shopping guide - through iTunes Trailers and other sources. See the video section of the sidebar to watch! In the video, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Stephenie Meyer, and producers Wyck Godfrey and Bill Bannerman all speak about the production process behind Breaking Dawn - Part 1, and some behind-the-scenes footage from shooting is ...

The first "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" teaser trailer, released back in June, gave fans a look at the wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullens. But equally interesting were the guests of honor featured in the wedding sequence, which introduced new characters like the Denali clan of vampires. But with the movie in theaters on Friday (November 18), one attendee in particular will likely have Twilighters geeking out.
"The Twilight Saga" author Stephenie Meyer made her first cameo in the series back in 2008's "Twilight," playing a restaurant patron. But the author-turned-executive producer on parts 1 and 2 of "Breaking Dawn" couldn't resist returning to the big screen so she could attend the wedding ceremony she inspired.

Noel Fisher ("Vladimir" - Romanian Coven in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2) issued his first blog entry on his official website, NoelFisher.net, and in it he has revealed a very good deed which was done by the filmmakers on Breaking Dawn.
In short, Fisher had a small role in Battle: Los Angeles, and when the film premiered earlier this year, there was a high chance he wouldn't make it to the event due to the shooting schedule for Breaking Dawn (then on-going in Vancouver); the filmmakers for Breaking Dawn, however, stepped up in a big way and sav ... ndness that I will never forget. Bill Condon took me aside and informed me that they (himself, Wyck Godfrey and Bill Bannerman) had worked out the schedule so that I could shoot the scene and still make my premiere! They had changed the whole day just for me!

Here's the thing about websites that are run by fans of the Twilight series - when they do interviews, they don't give you the regurgitated fluff, they give you the meat. These kinds of sites don't bother with the generic questions - rather, the point is to find out information you don't know, things you've been dying to ask yourself. While no interview is absolutely pointless (and that's mostly because, even with the same questions asked over and over again, the cast keeps it interesting), there are certainly those which are better than others. Some of those very websites were present on the red carpet for The Twilight Saga: New Moon...

Producer Bill Bannerman, by the by, told us Kristen was the Julia Child of the cast. So does Rob like her home cookin', too? And how did the two spend their day off in Madrid? We've got all this, plus piles o' dish from the afterparty, so you'll def want to read on: How did you spend your day off in Madrid? Robert Pattinson: I...
