Exclusive: Oliver Trevena (Plane) will exec produce and star in the dramatic thriller Social Capital, from writer-director Emilio Mauro.
The upcoming film follows an ensemble of distinct characters making their way through a seemingly normal office workday that begins to unwind as they are pushed closer and closer to the brink under mounting pressure. Trevena plays Scott, who’s constantly in mental distress — toeing the line between angry and manic. Deep down, however, he’s a man trying to find his strength and purpose, while keeping it all together after his relationships, both personal and professional, start to unwind.
Mauro is producing Social Capital, with Trevena being joined as an exec producer by David Womark and Alecia Jean Lebeda. The actor — who can currently be seen starring alongside Gerard Butler, Mike Colter and more in the Lionsgate action-thriller Plane — is this month filming a role alongside Harvey Keitel and Olga Kurylenko...

The core of the movie is its desire to shed light on sex trafficking and how this illegal trade operates, often in plain sight.
Richa Chadda, who plays a prostitute called Madhuri, warned people that you might think this is a problem that is miles away but we live in bubbles, unaware of what’s happening right around the corner. The cast were emphatic that the movie would make a difference.
More than one mentioned how it was very lucky to be working on such a sensitive project and hoped that “Love Sonia” would help save those being taken and abused. Sonia herself, played by Mrunal Thakur, hoped that the movie would help remind people who worthy they were.

The outstanding London Indian Film Festival is back again for it’s 9th year to thrill, to entertain, to move you and really make you think. Running from June 21st to the 29th, this year’s festival promises to be brilliant!
Festival director Cary Rajinder Sawhney says: “One great thing about being in the UK and especially London is that we are culturally intertwined to India and South Asia, not just through our shared history but our living, everyday experience where South Asian communities add so much to UK cultural life, of which cinema is an important aspect. This cutting edge festival showcases indie cinema that entertains but shows the more realistic and sometimes the raw side of South Asian culture but, at the same time, there are always stories of comedy, hope and the inexhaustible energy of over 1.3 Billion South Asian lives from the Indian subcontinent”.

Manoj Bajpayee: My character in ‘Love Sonia’ is one of the deadliest characters I have played so far
The fine actor Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood who can rightly be called ‘the master of impeccable performances’. In his phenomenal cinematic journey, the actor has always taken up challenging roles and delivered with great ease. We have always seen him portraying many negative roles be it gangster in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ series, a psycho in ‘Road’ a dangerous faction leader in ‘Tevar’, the actor has always made character’s alive with his performance. But the two time national award winner is all set to be seen one of his deadliest avatar in his upcoming film ‘Love Sonia’, thereby raising his own bar.

While the nature of her part is being kept under wraps, she is apparently playing the role of a strong reformist who helps rescue victims of human trafficking. Tabrez says it was relatively easy to get Demi Moore on board. "It wasn't that difficult at all. Demi has been involved in campaigns against human trafficking for years and has her own non-profit organization called "Thorn" which helps such victims. She loved the script and was happy to play the part of the social worker." Another American actor Mark Duplas, plays a wealthy man who encounters the protagonist Sonia (Riya Sisodia) in La. Four different directors whose films are nominated for best picture could all win Oscars at Sunday’s ceremony.
Birdman, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Boyhood, directed by Richard Linklater, are frontrunners in the best picture race. Both directors are nominated as co-producers on their respective films and both are also nominated for best director. If Inarritu wins for best picture and Linklater wins for best director (or vice versa), it would be the 24th time in Oscar history where best picture and best director have split.
Wes Anderson, director of The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Damien Chazelle, director of Whiplash, are nominated for original screenplay and adapted screenplay, respectively. Anderson co-produced The Grand Budapest Hotel.
If Anderson and Chazelle win for their screenplays (and Linklater and Inarritu win), it would be the second year in a row where three or more directors won at the same awards ceremony.

This is perfect for Oscar parties, because the lead keeps changing. The winner is the one with the most points at the end. A perfect score is 300. As final Oscar ballots are cast--the deadline is February 19 at 5 pm--Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" has turned out to be a stronger contender (and box office juggernaut, at close to $600 million worldwide) than many had expected. Nominated for eleven Oscars, among the categories the movie is favored to win are best director, cinematography, visual effects and editing. Lee has won one Oscar to Steven Spielberg's two; they are the only two directors nominated for both the DGA and Oscar. With "Argo"'s Ben Affleck out of the director Oscar race, Lee could beat Spielberg, mainly because "Pi" has been winning more advance awards and the Taiwan-born filmmaker is so respected for his range of skills. (See Lee on Nightline below and our interview, here.) Some weeks back I moderated a lively DGA panel with cinematographer Claudio Miranda (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), producer David Womark, VFX animator and supervisor Erik Jan De.
