Prior to the event, during the TakeOver kick-off show, we found out the results of the Nxt Awards, and so I figured I’d begin this article with the results of them.
Match of the Year: Diy vs. The Revival (2 out of 3 Falls/TakeOver Toronto)
Breakout Star of the Year: Peyton Royce & Billie Kay
Tag Team of the Year: The Revival
Woman of the Year: Asuka
Male of the Year: Shinsuke Nakamura
Nxt Superstar of the Year: Shinsuke Nakamura
Nxt Takeover events have been a high quality time and time again in the last few years, and with Nxt currently going through a “rebuilding” stage on its roster, with new talents coming in and well-known ones gone to the main roster, its an interesting time. Still, regardless of the stars that have departed Nxt in the last few months, there are still plenty of men and women to get excited about,...

Nxt Takeover: San Antonio is live tonight on the WWE Network. Takeover, for the casual fan that may not know, is the quarterly event that the Nxt brand holds. It’s their pay per view level event. Some of the best matches the WWE put on last year were at Takeover events, such as Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn at Takeover: Dallas and The Revival vs #Diy at Takeover: Toronto. The level of talent at Nxt meets and in some cases exceeds the talent on the main roster so if you’re a fan of good, entertaining matches, this show will be a can’t miss show. Presented for your approval is a preview of the show and my predictions for who comes out victorious.
Roderick Strong vs Cien Andrade Almas
Fans of Ring of Honor will be the first to tell you that Roderick Strong is an amazing talent in the ring.

Nxt is in the books for another week. They’re building up to their quarterly event Nxt Takeover: San Antonio. This episode saw the contract signing between Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura for the Nxt Championship at Takeover. We also saw The Revival face off against Tm-61 in a brutal match. We also saw an offer from Eric Young of Sanity to Tye Dillenger. How did this show hold up?
I have to say I am enjoying the Sanity stable led by former Tna star Eric Young. It’s a perfect use for him. Eric is not going to be someone who will go after a major championship in the WWE. That is not a knock against him by any means because not many people get the call to be the top guy. But what he is great at is being a teacher. He can be the veteran who...

On March 19, both Bobby Roode and Eric Young were released from Tna, at their own requests, after 12 years with the company. This week, Dave Meltzer announced on Wrestling Observer Radio that both men have held preliminary talks with WWE officials, via an intermediary.
Roode, 39, and Young, 36, both trained in their native Ontario and first made an impact in Tna in 2004 as part of Team Canada. Though that stable disintegrated after a few years, Roode and Young feuded after its dissolution. When both men went their separate ways, Roode formed the championship tandem Beer Money with James Storm, while Young primarily played a comedy babyface.
In 2011, Roode – who had grown into one of the best workers in the company – turned on Storm to become the Tna World Heavyweight Champion. In 2014, the popular Young upset Magnus for the title in a storyline that many saw as inspired by Daniel Bryan...

In yet another sign that Tna is in its death throes, two of the company’s most loyal performers have asked for and been granted their release.
Both Eric Young and Bobby Roode fulfilled their final commitments at this past weekend’s tapings and have officially departed the organization they had been with for more than a decade.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise because we all assumed both men would remain with the promotion until it ceased to exist, but this could be a case of abandoning ship before it’s fully submerged.
Heading into the TV taping both men were champions, with Roode holding the tag team titles alongside his Beer Money partner James Storm while Young was the King of the Mountain. WWE wanted to use Bully Ray (former Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE) for a Nxt live event in Philadelphia on May 15, but they changed their mind after he appeared on May 8th’s Tna Impact. It ended up being Tommy Dreamer in the spot as the guy that put over rising Nxt star Baron Corbin in a singles match.
At the time there was a lot of speculation that it would be Ray against Corbin since he was also at WWE’s Royal Rumble back in January. The reason why they went with Dreamer, according to the Wrestling Observer, is because WWE lost interest in Ray after he had a one night only Tna appearance as a guest referee for a match between Kurt Angle and Eric Young.
Dreamer has worked for Tna Wrestling for several months as a backstage agent that sometimes participates in matches and angles.

The angle that will start the Global Force Wrestling invasion of Tna Impact will begin on the July 22nd edition of Impact, according to the Wrestling Observer.
That show will air on a slight tape delay on Destination America while the other shows in July have already been taped. The storyline will continue with Gfw’s first ever TV tapings in Las Vegas on July 24.
Current Tna stars that will take part in the Gfw tapings are long-time performers Bobby Roode and Eric Young, both of whom are close with Gfw’s owner Jeff Jarrett. Young will also be taking part in Gfw live events this weekend to work an angle with Jarrett. Other Tna stars are likely to be there as well.
What’s weird about the Gfw taping aspect is that they have no television deal announced in any country. Perhaps they will have something to announce soon,...

X-Division Title: Tigre Uno d. Manik & DJ Zema. Tigre Uno used a corkscew senton for the win.
Robbie E d. Jessie Godderz. They were a former heel tag team, Robbie turned face and got the win a reverse Ddt.

For the past seven years, Tna has brought its unique brand of action to the United Kingdom in what is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the company’s calendar. From what started as a small tour in places like Brentwood, Essex and Coventry, the annual tour has blossomed into a block of TV tapings in major arenas across the UK that both thrill Tna’s loyal UK following and make great looking television shows.
For 2016, Tna have announced that they’re going back to their roots with Maximum Impact 8, billed as the most “fan friendly tour” of all time, where backstage passes and other treats will be up for grabs for the loudest fans in each arena. As well as this, Tna have promised family friendly event timings, which one would presume means an earlier start and finish times, as well as a ticket pricing structure suitable for all budgets.

Tna gets a lot of flack for taking talent WWE has fired. But they definitely don’t get the appreciation they deserve for building their own stars. Guys like Bobby Roode, Aj Styles, James Storm, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Magnus, and Eric Young have all been to the top of the mountain in Tna and have been great main eventers. Granted, some of the talent have made it big on the indies but Tna helped make them a household name and made them more familiar to the mainstream wrestling audience.
Tna also has a knack for taking a talent WWE has, some would say, misused, and make them into something you want to see. Take EC3 for example. Relegated to being a low card guy in WWE, he comes to Tna and shows he is worthy of the main event slot and worthy of a World Championship. Taryn Terrell...

Hulk Hogan has been in the business for thirty years and has remained a huge draw throughout that entire period. He was chosen to host WrestleMania XXX, which is an honour Vince McMahon would not offer up lightly; sure he made it clear that he didn’t know where the hell he was, which Austin and The Rock hilariously grilled him for throughout their entire segment, but you get the point. Hulkamania was and still is a big deal.
Though within a thirty year period it is hard to remain everybody’s friend and subsequently Hogan made a lot of enemies. There are various reasons as to why Hogan was unpopular amongst his colleagues; some envied his success, others hated the strength of his backstage influence and certain people have even publicly recited backstage tales of times when they have felt as though Hulk Hogan has let them down personally.

Follow along here... To celebrate Monster Week on Animal Planet, The Asylum has made a movie for them called, ludicrously enough, Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys, starring Shannen Doherty and Christopher Lloyd. Guess what? It's trailer time, kids!

Animal Planet’s giant of a week returns for its third year and is so large it needs nine days to tell the frightfully fun and over-the-top tales of the monsters that lurk below water and stalk on land.

We’re on the road to Extreme Rules and things are starting to get extremely mediocre. It can’t be helped as the yearly WrestleMania hangover is in full effect. There’s no Undertaker, no Brock Lesnar and we’re now settling into a new normal. Also, did you know what Tna has a pay-per-view this week? Most people did not, as Impact’s ratings dropped to all-time low levels. That’s not much of a “yes movement” for Eric Young’s title reign, that’s a channel changing movement.
Of course, it wasn’t all bad: The Shield’s attacks on SmackDown were a lot of fun (poor Brad Maddox took a brutal toss into the wall), Antonio Cesaro got WWE’s first tornado siren theme music since Perry Saturn, and Paul Heyman and Zeb Colter had great dueling promos. But who wants to hear about that?...

Bobby Roode has been a part of Tna Wrestling for the past 10 years, initially coming in as a member of the Team Canada group that also gave us Eric Young, before forming arguably Tna’s most successful and beloved tag teams in its history, Beer Money, with James Storm. The two eventually split, with Roode turning heel on his old partner before embarking on the longest Tna World Heavyweight Championship reign of all time.
Roode has continued to be an integral part of the Tna roster, and I managed to catch up with him in the afternoon prior to an Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando to ask Bobby Roode ten questions.
1. You’re one of Tna’s longest serving stars. What’s your secret to staying fresh and relevant in the fans’ eyes?
Just keep improving, keep getting better and giving the fans new something to watch. I guess,...

Recently I discussed my personal opinions on Triple H in my first installment of articles I plan to write on what I believe is wrong with the pro wrestling industry of today and what I think is essentially “bad for business.” Now although I can’t see how residing over the most unpopular period of WWE history can make you a legend I also gave a little prop to him on the first page for the resurgence of the tag team division and if there is anything positive I can say about the man is that he is consistent and that he may finally be learning from past mistakes.
Unlike the “boy” (when he is ready to grow up then I will call him a man) I am about to break down for you.
Jeff Hardy – The Most Undeserving World Champion In History
Look at me, I’m a douchebag.

In a drastic change of pace from fist pumping on the Jersey Shore, Tna Impact Wrestling star Robbie E. recently made an appearance at Pro-Wrestling Elite in Scotland. Prior to an intense contest for the heavyweight championship, Robbie E. sat down with WhatCulture’s Simon Cassidy to discuss his beginings in the world of pro-wrestling, his influences, aspirations and some misconceptions about his “movie career”.
So first of all, how did you get your start in professional wrestling?
Well of course when I was a young Robbie E. I knew I was destined to be a star in this world somehow and I assumed that it would be as a pro-wrestler, because I loved wrestling. So at the age of 16, while still in high school, I began training three times a week. I didn’t even have my driver’s licence yet; my parents had to drive me to a...

The Braves pitcher’s injury is not for the faint of heart. If you’re not squeamish, keep reading and watch the video.
Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson had to be lifted off New York City’s Citi Field on a stretcher on July 24, when he suffered a leg injury that’s almost too gruesome to watch.
Tim Hudson Breaks Ankle — Braves Player Suffers Gruesome Injury
Tim, 38, ran to cover first base during a routine play. While the Braves pitcher caught the ball and hit the base with plenty of time to spare, New York Mets left fielder Eric Young Jr. stepped on Tim’s right ankle while running out the play. Tim, who appeared to be in excruciating pain, immediately fell to the ground and remained there until he was carted off the field.
“I knew I didn’t get any of the base. I got all of his foot.

What do fishermen and pro wrestlers have in common? Tenacity, and a crazy streak rooted deep inside. Ask Tna and Animal Planet "Off the Hook" star Eric Young, known in some circles as "Showtime Eric Young." A self described "stump" of a man who is 240 pounds of pure mesomorph, the native rural Canadian proudly calls Nashville his home now. For his Animal Planet series premiering tonight, he is traveling the far reaches of North America and Hawaii embedding with teams of crack pro fishermen, every last one of them gifted with unusual techniques, to say the least. "All successful fishermen are tenacious, almost to the point of annoyance," laughed Young, who hosted M&C and other journalists...

Last week, I made a point of saying that building to Corpus Christi, Texas next week which shortchange the audience in Jonesboro and that you had to make every impact of special. Well, this week I feel like they accomplished that more was great action, storyline building and good episode structure.
From the beginning with the opening segment as the Aces and Eights have three gifts, Mr. Anderson with a cut for Aj Styles (Everyone called it a cut in the episode and not a leather vest… I guess everyone watched their Sons of Anarchy DVD set again). A mystery envelope that Devon has saying it was.for the President of the club and his lovely bride who will have a confrontation later tonight and the Vice President D’ lo Brown has his termination letter from Tna Corporate.
The Vice President says he wants some answers and he knows somebody...

In the home of Arkansas State University, Tna came into town and delivered a show that was odd to say the least. The matches and angles themselves were a little off but what puzzled me more was the fact that they basically came out and told you at the beginning of the show the next two weeks don’t matter as they set up to big title matches for the next April 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas. When you go ahead and say a title match is coming in two weeks the audience already checks out of what you’re saying because you’re basically telling them to tune out because the next few weeks really does not matter.
Now, I know with the new pay-per-view schedule that this was going to happen, but I didn’t think they would be so blatant in like a throwaway episode of Impact in the process.

This weeks opening segment revolved around the Garrett Bischoff lightning push. Imagine how much someone who’s last name wasn’t Bischoff could benefit from getting a rub from both Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan at once. Garrett showed up despite being warned not to, just to show how brave he is. Kurt Angle made himself available as a partner for Gunner to face Garrett and a partner of his choosing, his reason being that he always respected his parents and that led him to a gold medal. “Immortal” bragged that Garrett would be on his own in the main event against both. But who would possibly team up with such a rookie? Maybe someone who has a problem with Kurt Angle? Of course it turned out to be Jeff Hardy, who has taken his face paint to a whole other idiot level this week again.

The “Insane Icon,” is “Done.”
The most hyped story this week was Sting saying On Twitter that he was “Done.” Not via Tna TV or anything, Via Twitter. Because that’s how professionals deal with major announcements these days. Robert Roode announced early in the show that Sting was going to appear. Thing is that since they announced Roode’s title match against Storm was going to be at the PPV in April rather than the next one in March, they made it a bit obvious that something was going to go down at Victory Road in March. Otherwise why wouldn’t the title match just happen at Victory Road?
In the closing segment Sting came out as promised to address the Tweet that shook the world. Roode made his second appearance of the night to interrupt. Sting immediately converted over to Whacky Insane Icon Sting...

As always, last week gets recapped. But you read that last week right? Right!?
We pick up backstage where Jeff Hardy is beating down Bully Ray in that are that they always seem to be taking photos. They brawl past that with some terribly unrealistic punches and out to another backstage area. Just in time, Roode pulls up in his beautiful white truck and jumps Hardy with Bully. Bully drops a piece of wood on Jeff’s leg that looks like it weighs less than a sponge. They throw him in the back of the truck, but then James Storm comes out of nowhere and gets involved. He throws Storm through a barricade then smacks Bully with a Plastic bottle. I should note there’s a lot of needless grunting going on. Then, Sting comes into the picture and takes a bat to Roode’s stomach.

Last week, James Storm blamed everyone for jumping him, including Aj Styles. But in the end it was Kurt Angle returning and taking the credit for the attack. Felt the need to explain that since I didn’t do the results last week.
In the arena, Kurt Angle is on his way to the ring. Kurt says he didn’t attack Storm from behind, Storm just didn’t see him coming. He has cat like reflexes you see. Not surprisingly, Storm comes out to respond. Storm talks about how this has gone beyond personal, its now business. What… isn’t it normally bad when it’s the other way around? Kurt claims Storm screwed him out of his title. Storm wants to fight instead, and so takes a swig of beer. Angle says he doesn’t want to fight but he knows a few who do,...

First we recap Roode smashing a bottle over Storm to take his world title from him, with further emphasis on the spit and some epic music just to emphasise the heel turn. Then we are in Georgia for Impact Wrestling. And Robert Roode is first out with his new World Title and music that proclaims him to be off the chain. He says that each and every one of us would have done what he did. He tells us this is a generation of selfishness and he is the leader. Doing things the right way in society today gets you nowhere. In a picture in picture shot we see James Storm at the Gorilla position watching, then getting stopped by security when he tries to come out. That’S interesting, I like that. Finally wrestling addresses the question “Why do they only interrupt after letting them speak for ten minutes.

Opening video this week is a recap of James Storm winning the world title. And in the arena we kick off with the new champion himself coming to the ring with brand new music and entrance video. Storm shouts out his dad because he did this for him. And he remembers them watching Wrestlemania 3 together. Can he say that? Guess so. He also says he couldn’t have done it without the fans. I don’t wanna go back and watch, but a face says that every week on Tna right? Storm brings out Fortune, because he has something to say to them. Aj, Kaz and Roode join him in the ring. Storm says the song says Fortune Four but they’re about to change things, like they’ve changed wrestling. Storm says he knows Roode got screwed at Bfg. And so he’s drunkenly come...
