Latest: Actress Katie Holmes' will return to the small screen with a guest role in U.S. TV show Eli Stone, network bosses have confirmed.
Holmes was rumoured to be appearing in the comedy series when it returns to the air this autumn, after the show's producer tapped her for a part.
And ABC network president Stephen McPherson confirms: "I was at the table read and she was fabulous. It's a great role for her. There's some singing and dancing that she does, and she's exquisite."
The series centres around attorney Eli - played by Jonny Lee Miller - who has an inoperable brain aneurysm that allows him to see the future.
Holmes is expected to play another attorney in one hour-long episode.
Eli Stone executive producer Greg Berlanti previously worked with Holmes on Dawson's Creek - where she rose to fame playing teenager Joey Potter.
Berlanti adds: "Knowing we wanted to bring eyeballs to the show and get people to talk about it, I went to Kate, whom I hadn't worked with since Dawson's Creek, and begged her. She said she'd be delighted to do it... This is not a one-scene, two-scene thing. She does a lot of work in this episode."
Holmes' episode is set to air 21 October.

George Michael gave Dr. Phil McGraw a little tough love at his concert Wednesday night at the L.A. Forum. "I probably shouldn’t say this, but it’s very me. Dr. Phil is here, and in the sea of faces he has this miserable look – he's been doing it for the last hour," the British singer said from the stage at McGraw, who was in the audience. "I probably shouldn't say this, but maybe you need to see someone about that." A source at the show described the jibe from Michael as "very playful." Still, after Michael reprimanded Dr. Phil for scowling,

Emmy's winners for acting are chosen in a three-tier system by actors who belong to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. During the first two weeks of June, they participate in a popular vote that determines a Top 10 runoff in each race. Finalists submit a sample episode of their best work to judges, whose scores are combined by accountants in a 50-50 mix with results of the original popular vote. The five nominees in each category are then announced July 17. Winners are decided based on judges' scores of the sample episodes and are revealed at the awards ceremony to

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie didn't want to fall in love with another actor after two failed marriages - she was looking for love with an aid worker.
The Tomb Raider star was adamant never to date anyone on the Hollywood party circuit after her marriages to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller failed.
But Jolie fell for Pitt - after her dreams of finding Mr Average faded.
She tells the July edition of Vanity Fair, "After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something.
"Then I met Brad, everything I wasn't looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know?
"I don't see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies."

X-men star Hugh Jackman is set to go from comic book character to comic book creator after teaming up with screenwriter Marc Guggenheim for a new sci-fi thriller.
The Aussie actor, who plays Wolverine in the X-Men films and is currently reprising the hairy character in a spin-off movie, has developed a new series for Virgin Comics, called Nowhere Man.
The project is a joint venture between Jackman and Guggenheim, who adapted the Wolverine story for the big screen.
Details of Nowhere Man are being kept secret, but Virgin Comics officials describe the story as "a sci-fi odyssey set in a groundbreaking vision of the future in which mankind has traded privacy for safety."
Jackman says, "I've had so much fun in the graphic novel world with the X-Men franchise that I wanted to get even more involved. I am so excited to work with Virgin and Marc and create a compelling character and story that hopefully will also make it to the big screen."
Guggenheim is no stranger to the comic book genre - he has previously authored comics on Marvel's Wolverine series as well as the best-selling Amazing Spider-Man. He's also the man behind Jonny Lee Miller's hit U.S. TV show Eli Stone.
Founded in 2005 by Sir Richard Branson, author Deepak Chopra and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, among others, Virgin Comics has provided a graphic outlet for celebrities like Nicolas Cage, Jenna Jameson and director Guy Ritchie.
Virgin bosses are currently developing new stories with Terry Gilliam, Dave Stewart and Duran Duran.
