January Jones likes her men with axes?

15 October 2009 3:36 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

January Jones wants to date a man who can wield an axe.

The 'Mad Men' actress is looking for a brave guy with great facial hair - just like the character James Brolin played in 'Amityville Horror'.

She said: "What I want is James Brolin in 'Amityville Horror', minus the horror. A guy with a beard who can swing an axe!

"Dear men of America, I like beer, I like football. I'm probably the most interesting girl you'll ever meet."

January is on the lookout for love after a series of failed relationships.

The 31-year-old blonde beauty is determined to find a man who supports her career and doesn't try to control her.

In what appeared to be a thinly-veiled attack on her ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher, January told America's GQ magazine: "The guy I was dating when I first got to Los Angeles was not supportive of my acting. »

January Jones Became Famous Despite Ashton Kutcher

13 October 2009 9:45 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Don't tell January Jones what she can't do. Even if you're Ashton Kutcher. Back when the South Dakota-born Mad Men actress - she plays Mrs. Don Draper - first arrived in Los Angeles and was dating the now-Mr. Demi Moore, Kutcher didn't think the onetime Abercrombie and Fitch model could make it as a thespian. Related: January Dishes on Her 'Cracked' Alter Ego"[He] was not supportive of my acting," Jones, 31, says in the new issue of GQ. "He was like, I don't think you're going to be good at this. Movies That Put the Owee in Halloween

7 October 2009 10:04 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It’s that time of year again.  The pumpkins are out, the leaves are turning colors, the air is brisk and chilly.  It’s time for the spooky stories, the frightening films, the maybe not so scary but at times certainly inventive costumes and that most important element…..candy corn.  Yes folks, Halloween season is upon us once again.

My yearly tradition on All Hallows Eve is to hole up in my house, turn off all the lights and settle in to a nice good ole fashioned Horror movie.  What other way to celebrate right?  I figured this would be the perfect time to run down a list movies that fit this time of year perfectly.  Let’s run them down by letter shall we?

The Sci-Fi Western Horror Of 'Westworld' In Today's Sick Day Stash

7 October 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Call them "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." We all have a mental rolodex of flicks that may not be terribly popular but, for one reason or another, they resonate in a very special way. Maybe you saw it at the right moment. Maybe you just see gold where everyone else sees feces. Whatever the case, these are the special favorites that you keep stashed away for sick days. Here are some of ours.

Long before Michael Crichton threatened park goers with T-rexes and Velociraptors, he directed "Westworld," his own script about Yul Brynner as a black-hatted robo-cowboy gone berserk. James Brolin played the heroic counterpart to his nerdy "Jurassic Park" counterpart portrayed by Jeff Goldblum, and Brolin's son Josh could have benefited from a re-examination of this horror-infused Western before filming next year's "Jonah Hex," as it cleverly splices science fiction and human/inhuman struggles into a classic Western framework. »

Barbra Streisand sprained her thumbs giving Robert De Niro a massage. The actress-and-singer damaged her digits when Robert encouraged her to give him a vigorous rubdown for a scene in "Meet the Fockers."

She said in an interview with British talk show host Jonathan Ross: "He kept saying do it harder - I sprained both thumbs, I had to have cortisone shots. That's method acting!"

In the interview, the 67-year-old star also revealed she gets infuriated with her husband James Brolin - who she married in 1998 - because he doesn't tidy up after himself at home.

She explained: "I'm a stay-at-home kind of gal, a homebody. He is messy and I'm very tidy. I've been telling him for 13 years but he doesn't listen to me!"

TV Review: Psych 4.3 & 4.4

1 September 2009 7:42 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Psych, USA, Airs Friday 10/9c Episode: “High Noonish” (Season Four, Episode 3) Synopsis: Detective Lasseter’s beloved childhood stomping grounds – an old west town tourist trap – has fallen on hard times. Someone is trying to sabotage the town, so Lassie brings in Shawn and Gus to help solve the mystery. James Brolin guest stars as the sheriff who calls Lassie “Binky.” Review: By the time I watched this episode, it dawned on me that Psych is not one of those mysteries that you could ever hope to solve. As far as mysteries go, the writing isn’t well constructed. Clues are left out, or revealed at the last minute in a wrap-up, and sometimes the story seems to be cobbled together haphazardly at the last minute. But this is not why I enjoy Psych. Rather, I love watching the interaction between Shawn and Gus, as well as their connection to the supporting characters. In »

TV Review: Psych 4.2 – He’s Dead

16 August 2009 8:30 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Psych, USA, Airs Friday 10/9c Episode: “He's Dead” (Season Four, Episode 2) Synopsis: Shawn and Gus crash a search party for a missing billionaire whose plane went down in the California woods. Shawn uses his fake psychic intuition (and a super-secret map) to find the plane. Inside, the billionaire asks him to find his killers. This leads Shawn and Gus to be hired by the man’s widow. Yet, when the “psychic vibrations” start to point to one of the family members, they’re fired from the case, only to jump back on it with the Sbpd. Review: After watching this show for a couple seasons, I think I have it completely figured out. It’s not really the quality of the mystery, but rather the path that our favorite fake psychics take to get there. The clues are always pretty random, and it’s almost impossible to fit everything together before Shawn sums it up. And »

Review: The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

14 August 2009 5:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

How strange it is to think that a comedy isn't brash enough or absurd enough or funny enough (okay, that one's not so strange), but the truth about The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is that, while it is brash and absurd and funny in fits and starts, it also seems to lose its nerve as it goes on, running low on laughing gas and coasting to a stop or whatever it is that auto-minded metaphors for auto-minded comedies do.

A wheeler and dealer even in grade school, the now-grown Don Ready (Jeremy Piven) sells cars like nobody's business when somebody's business is in trouble, and that's just the predicament that Ben Selleck (James Brolin) finds himself in. Ready's entourage includes the likes of Ving Rhames, Kathryn Hahn and David Koechner; I'll leave you to guess which of the three is the willful slut. Selleck's staff includes Ken Jeong, Tony Hale »

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard Review

14 August 2009 11:55 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Its the final stretch folks, the end of the summer season, and every one of the films that jump out in August tries to walk out over the others. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard achieves a quick advantage with the look of its comedic cast. Despite having that kind of star power, however, this flick roars along for the first hour but with no pit stop runs itself right into a ditch by the third act.

Jeremy Piven stars as Don Ready, the sharp-tongued egotistical liquidator who sells cars with the help of his all-star team: quick-thinking Jibby (Ving Rhames), the charismatic Brent (David Koechner) and the seductive Babs (Kathryn Hahn). They get the call from failing used car owner Ben Selleck (James Brolin), who has to rally to sell off all the cars on his lot during a Fourth of July sale in order to stay afloat. Right out of the lot, »

The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.

The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.

Directed by: Neal Brennan

Cast: Jeremy Piven, Ed Helms, Ving Rhames, James Brolin, David Koechner, Kathryn Hahn, Alan Thicke

Running Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Rating: R

Release Date: August 14, 2009

Plot: A notorious fast-talking traveling salesman (Piven) must help an auto lot sell their cars before they are bought out by their competitor.

Who’s It For? As much as the film is profane, its tired humor would fit better in a PG-13 arena for those who consider jokes about men hitting on other men to still be funny. But considering how bad this movie is, The Goods probably won’t be enjoyed by any patron over the age of 17 unless they enter with bottom-dollar expectations.

Expectations: Even after seeing the film’s not so funny preview constantly at the movies this summer, there were still hopes this would be a breezy mid-August comedy with odd, »

Movie Review - 'The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.'

The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard.

Starring Jeremy Piven, Ving Rhames, Ed Helms, and James Brolin

Directed by Neal Brennan

Rated R

Star vehicles, by definition, depend on the appeal of their stars. So, before you pay to see The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard., you should ask yourself how much you like Jeremy Piven. The Entourage Emmy winner is a used car salesman savant named Don Ready. He's as abrasive like Piven's Ari Gold, only in worse clothes. But if this is all Piven's got, haven't we seen it already?

Unfortunately, even though there's a good cast of likely and unlikely comic heroes mingling the used car lot, Piven gets most of the funny. And that's where this one bottlenecks.

It's not that Piven isn't funny or can't be funny, but in The Goods, it's one note over and over again. That note isn't all that funny to begin with, »

Review: The Goods

Plot: Don Ready (Jeremy Piven) is a legendary used-car salesmen, who, along with his sales team (Ving Rhames, Kathryn Hahn, & David Koechner) is hired by a fledgling auto-dealership owner (James Brolin), to liquidate all the cars on his lot over one long, fourth of July weekend. Review: Let.s get one thing out of the way: I.m Not a big Jeremy Piven fan. Sure, I like Entourage (who doesn.t?), and yes, he.s great on the show as Ari Gold. The players: Director: Neal Brennan, Writers: Andy Stock, Rick Stempson, Cast: Jeremy Piven, Ving Rhames, David Koechner, Kathryn Hahn, Tony Hale, James Brolin, Ed Helms

Facts of interest: Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced "The Goods."

The plot: Salesman Don Ready (Jeremy Piven) heads to a failing car dealership to set up a massive three-day sale event and save the place.

Our thoughts: Jeremy Piven’s got the goods and delivers tons of big-screen fun in Neal Brennan’s “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard,” a surprisingly amusing comedy about an eccentric salesman who heads out to save a failing car dealership and ends up saving himself in the process. Let’s find out what this guy is all about. »
