Lewis Run, Pa. — Wesley Snipes has been released from a federal prison in Pennsylvania.

Snipes has appeared in dozens of films, from "White Men Can't Jump" and "Demolition Man" in the early 1990s to the "Blade" trilogy. He entered the McKean prison in December 2010 to begin a three-year sentence for failure to file income tax returns.

Snipes belonged to a group that challenged the government's right to collect taxes. Prosecutors say he failed to file returns for at least a decade and owed millions of dollars in back taxes.

Snipes had appealed in an Atlanta court, saying he didn't get a fair trial. »

Celebrities not worth swatting: Spencer Pratt, Rob Kardashian, Jamie Lynn Spears and more C-listers

5 April 2013 8:30 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Sure, it's a "big deal" when celebrities like Selena Gomez or Justin Timberlake get swatted. But would anyone care if these celebrity swatters lowered their targeting expectations and went for some C-list folks? After all, sooner or later, we're going to run out of A-listers for the police to come and save.

Thus, we present our list of celebrities not worth swatting, chosen at random and via a cursory look at unpopular TMZ articles.

Note: We do not condone swatting of any kind, nor do we mean to imply that the police should ignore calls -- real or fake -- to come and save these celebrities. So don't get mad.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag: Speidi was once the most hated couple in Hollywood. Now... Let's just say their last big thing was a "Big Brother" appearance. In England. It's not worth it anymore.

Wesley Snipes Is A Free Man!

5 April 2013 7:41 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Here’s the best news I’ve heard all day, Wesley Snipes—Aka The Artist Formerly Known As Inmate # 43355-018—is a free man once more. Snipes has been serving time in Pennsylvania’s McKean Federal Correctional Institution since December 2010 for not filing his federal taxes. They take that shit seriously. After all, it was tax evasion that finally brought down Al Capone, and he did a ton of horrible stuff. TMZ reports that Snipes was released on April 2, and that he will be under house arrest—the preferred official nomenclatures is “home confinement”—until July 19. After that he can finally get to work on “Expendables 3” and that “Passenger 57” sequel I’ve been waiting for since 1992. Okay, that last one is just a lingering teenage fantasy, but the “Expendables” part may very realistically happen. Anyway, we would like to welcome Mr. Snipes back to the land of the free, »

April 15 is almost here, so you'd better file that tax return soon or else you might end up like Wesley Snipes. The “Blade” actor recently got out of prison after serving three years on tax evasion charges. According to TMZ, Snipes was released from McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania on April 2 and will continue to be under house arrest until July 19. The 50-year-old was convinced in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts for failing to file his tax returns and cheating the government out of $7 million. Throughout the case, Snipes maintained his innocence and blamed two co-defendants for advising him wrongly. But the government said he was part of a radical anti-tax group that doesn't believe the Internal Revenue Service has the power to collect taxes. His legal troubles have derailed Snipes's acting career. He had been set to star in Spike Lee's 2008 movie “Miracle at St. Anna,” but he was replaced by Derek Luke. »

Actor Wesley Snipes is slowly making his way back to “big business,” as his three-year sentence for failing to pay taxes comes to an end.

TMZ reports that the 50-year-old actor and producer was released from McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania on April 2 and transferred to New York Community Corrections Office, who will oversee his home confinement until July 19.

Since his December 2010 imprisonment, Snipes has unsuccessfully made attempts to get his prison sentence overturned, who was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of failure to file income tax returns in 1999, 2000, and 2001. He was acquitted of five other charges, including felony tax fraud and conspiracy.

Upon the completion of his home confinement stint this summer, Snipes is expected to resume his Hollywood career, which has some already anticipating his return. Last year during an interview with the Huffington Post, actor Terry Crews opened up about the idea of Snipes landing »

The 15 Dumbest Horror Movie Characters

4 April 2013 11:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

People in horror movies do the darndest things, don't they? We've all had a "Don't go in there, you idiot!" moment or twelve while watching fright flicks. Horror sure does bring out the stupids.

This counter-intuitive behavior makes it seem like these folks are handing over their lives on a silver platter, so in honor of this weekend's "Evil Dead" let's celebrate the good, the bad and the dumber-than-a-bag-of-hammers of the genre. Appropriately enough, our first entry comes from that franchise.

15. Ash, 'Army of Darkness' (1992)

Body Donor: Bruce Campbell

Iq Fail: Even in the semi-serious first "Evil Dead" Campbell's Ash was a few french fries short of a Happy Meal, but by this third entry he had devolved into hubris incarnate. His buffoonery lands him in the Middle Ages, where he's forced to do battle with skeletons raised after he misspoke three lousy words he was supposed »

Flickering Myth's Greatest Comic Book Movies: #23 - Blade (1998)

4 April 2013 7:09 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Throughout April, we're counting down to the release of Marvel's Iron Man 3 with our picks for the Greatest Comic Book Movies of All Time; here's #23...

Blade, 1998.

Directed by Stephen Norrington.

Starring Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, N'Bushe Wright, Donal Logue, Udo Kier, Arly Jover and Traci Lords.

While Bryan Singer's X-Men (2000) is generally credited with kick-starting the current superhero movie boom, it was actually Marvel's Blade who got in there first, with the Daywalker arriving on the screen two years earlier - and just one year after the disastrous Batman & Robin - thanks to director Stephen Norrington, screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Wesley Snipes.

After the success of Blade, Wesley Snipes returned for the sequels Blade II and Blade: Trinity, but turned down the opportunity to headline the subsequent small screen spin-off Blade: The Series due to an ongoing lawsuit with New Line Cinema, with Kirk »

Flickering Myth's Greatest Comic Book Movies: #50 - #26

1 April 2013 11:42 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

As you'll no doubt be aware if you're a regular around these parts, we're big fans of comic book movies here at Flickering Myth. Over the past few weeks, the writing team here at Flickering Myth have been putting together their own individual top tens, which we've used to compile our list. Any film based upon a comic book was eligible for inclusion, providing it had received a theatrical release either in North America or here in the UK. 10 Movies We Can’t Wait To See In 1998

1998 is fast shaping up to be a great year for movies. We have already had a few crackers such as Alex ProyasDark City, The Postman and endless re-visits to the multiplex to see Titanic (we just can’t get enough of it). The rest of the year looks to be pretty decent too. In order to keep you up to speed with what to look out for, here are the ten which are going to dominate the rest of 1998.

Honourable mentions go to Deep Impact, The Truman Show, Dr. Dolittle and The Odd Couple 2, but unfortunately there can only be ten films on this list and here they are, in order of release date. Expect to see these dominating the box office as well as the Oscar Nominations (maybe not for Armageddon) throughout the rest of the year.

Blade: 5 Reasons We’re All Done With Vampire Films

1 April 2013 4:54 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Already being hailed as the “Citizen Kane of Vampire Movies”, the upcoming August release of Blade promises to be one of the finest films ever crafted by man or god. In fact, the buzz in the AOL chat rooms is that in fifteen years, people will be referring to Citizen Kane as “the Blade of Movies”.

Based on the Marvel Comic, the movie will star Wesley Snipes from the recent unforgettable thriller Murder at 1600 as its titular character, a daywalker who kills other vampires. Blade will likely bury the vampire genre, making subsequent vampire movies entirely needless and obsolete. In fact, it seems unlikely that any of the major studios will even be willing to release another vampire movie after this one. In the years since Citizen Kane there haven’t exactly been a barrage of biopics starring fictionalized versions of newspaper magnates, right?

So in honor of the upcoming Blade, »
