"Diaboli virtus in lumbis est. Diaboli virtus in lumbis est. The virtue of the devil is in his loins." And now Camp Month brings us to The Devil's Advocate—or, as I'd like to call it, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The "Hoo-ah" Al Pacino. When Pacino took the Best Actor Oscar for Scent Of A Woman, besting the likes of Denzel Washington in Malcolm X and Stephen Rea in The Crying Game, it felt ironically like one of the great actors of his generation had been lost to us. Gone was the quiet, tortured, soulful introspection of Pacino's work in classics like The Godfather Part II and Serpico. Instead, we received a preening scenery-chewer whose performances were all surface theatricality, with little character underneath. At the time, he seemed to me a husk of his former self, lazily coasting on the authority of...

It looks like Joss Whedon will be heading back to theaters soon. No, it won't be Buffy or Serenity, but rather a thriller he co-wrote called The Cabin in the Woods.
Variety reports that MGM has bought the script, which was co-written by the film's director, Drew Goddard. I know...it's a little bit of a letdown knowing Whedon won't be directing, but it's a little exciting that Goddard - a writing and producing vet of Buffy, Alias, and Lost - should finally get a chance to direct. Especially when you weigh in the fact that he wrote Cloverfield.
We don't know much about the story, but I think we take a guess. I mean, it's a thriller called The Cabin in the Woods. Probably won't be a nice, relaxing weekend in the country.
What we do know is that the film marks something of a milestone for MGM. One of the original major studios,

Samuel Johnson said it was the last refuge of scoundrels, and if that's true, then I predict a nation-wide crime wave and a week-long run on golden toothpicks and hairless cats, because at this time of year patriotism will not be denied. Refuse to partake of -- or at least acknowledge -- it at your political and gustatory peril. With that in mind, we offer a list of films that might satisfy those on the patriotic fence, those who prefer their patriotism (and their marshmallow salad) a little bittersweet. Like Mr. Johnson, I am not an American, and much of what I know about everything, including American patriotism, I learned at the movies; these films have taught me the most about the boons and the bummers involved in loving this country.

Will Smith was disappointed he missed out on an Oscar for his role in The Pursuit Of Happyness - because he was convinced it was "my time".
The star has received two Best Actor Academy Award nominations to date - for Ali in 2001, and again for the 2006 drama.
He was beaten to the podium in 2002 by Denzel Washington - for his role in the critically-acclaimed Training Day - and he and lost out to Forest Whitaker's Last King of Scotland portrayal at the 2007 Academy Awards.
But Smith admits it was Whitaker's win that upset him the most.
He says, "Denzel took it for Training Day; fantastic film. When you can get nominated and invited to the (Oscars) party, it's huge. (But) I can always tell when things aren't right for me at the time; I didn't feel like that was the time.
"But, for Pursuit of Happyness, I actually felt like it was my time and I still didn't win it! I was like, 'Hey, it's my time! Wait, hold on, that other boy's taken my thing!'"

Sexy Eva Mendes has gone topless for Italy's Vogue magazine.
The actress vamps it up in a semi-dominatrix outfit, complete with sexy black stockings, a lacy basque and a see-through black shirt, open to reveal her breasts.
The pouting temptress tops off her Vogue look with a black beehive hairdo.
It's not the first time the sexy star has bared her breasts - she appeared completely naked as Denzel Washington's girlfriend in Training Day.
She also posed naked for a I'd Rather Go Naked anti-fur campaign poster for People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) last year, and graced the pages of the final issue of America's Jane magazine last summer.
And she titillated fans in 2007 drama We Own The Night by masturbating on a sofa, wearing nothing but lingerie, in the opening scene.

Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion.
The action star was given the maximum sentence at the court in Ocala, Florida after prosecutors described him as a “truly notorious offender".
He was acquitted of fraud in February but convicted on three misdemeanour counts of willfully failing to file federal tax returns from 1999 to 2001.
Prosecutors said he had escaped paying more than $$15 million in income tax to the Irs since 1999.
His lawyers read out character references from family members and friends, including actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington. Snipes also surprised the court by handing over more . . .

Hollywood star Wesley Snipes will serve three years in jail for tax evasion.
In February the Blade actor was convicted of failing to file his taxes for five years.
The star was acquitted of tax fraud and filing a false claim, as well as three misdemeanour counts of wilful failure to file a tax return.
But on Thursday in Florida, U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges sentenced Snipes to three years
imprisonment.
Earlier this week, Snipes' famous friends, like actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington, sent letters to the judge as character references.
The actor's attorneys argued that Snipes' crimes did not warrant a prison sentence, and that the star should be given probation.
Details of when Snipes will have to surrender to prison, and where he will serve his sentence have not been released.

Wesley Snipes is prison-bound. The Blade star, 45, was sentenced Thursday to three years behind bars as his punishment for failing to file his tax returns, U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges announced in an Ocala, Fla., courtroom. The actor sat stone-faced – and some people in the courtroom gasped – when the sentence was read. "I'm very sorry for my mistakes and errors. I apologize to my family, the court and the community," Snipes said as his wife looked on. "I've asked the court to show me mercy and the opportunity to make things right." In February, a federal jury convicted

Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson have come to troubled pal Wesley Snipes' aid in a bid to keep the Blade star out of prison.
The two stars have written letters to the judge overseeing the actor's ongoing tax fraud case, urging him to be lenient on their friend as he passes sentence on Thursday.
In February, Snipes was convicted of failing to file his taxes for five years.
The star was acquitted of tax fraud and filing a false claim, as well as three misdemeanour counts of wilful failure to file a tax return, but he still faces three years in prison.
And Snipes' legal team hopes glowing character references from his famous friends will help keep the actor out of jail.
In his letter, obtained by Tmz.com, Oscar winner Washington calls Snipes "a mighty oak".
And TV judge Greg Mathis writes, "Unfortunately, it was his honest nature that forced him into these legalities."
His TV colleague Judge Joe Brown adds Snipes is "one of those rare individuals possessed of an extremely developed social conscience."

Montag states she has never been approached to feature in a big screen reality venture, but insists she wouldn't consider taking a part in the film if rival and co-star Lauren Conrad was narrating the plot.
She tells U.S. website Hollyscoop.com, "I've never discussed a movie possibility for The Hills.and I'm not sure if for my first movie I'd let Lauren Conrad narrate me, so I don't think that would be something I would do.
