A best of the decade list is an incredible thing to consider. The Aughts were ripe with imagination and originality. The past ten years also came jam packed with many new visionary directors that changed the cinematic landscape forever. Yet, at the same time, it was also a decade wrought with remakes, rip-offs, ten-year late sequels, and films based on preexisting toy properties, comic books, and amusement park rides. George Lucas offended almost everyone by dusting off his Star Wars mythos and adding copious amounts of CGI to it. And Batman, a caped figure in tights who last flourished in the trippy sixties, managed to crawl head and shoulders above the rest at the box office to be crowned king. Thus proving that the so-called "geek" or "fanboy" truly ruled the silver screen over the course of this tumultuous past decade. Today, we look at the ten films that ruled »

“Nine” is a musical that bowls you over with penance and energy. It doesn’t have memorable songs like “The Sound of Music” or “West Side Story”. It does however have an electrifying cast that does its best to bowl you over. For the most part, it does succeed. “Nine” is based on a 1982 Broadway musical. That musical was inspired by the classic Fellini film “8 ½”. It was revived with great fanfare in 2003 with Antonio Banderas in the lead. “Nine” tells the story of famed Italian director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his attempts to make a new movie. He has problems brewing though. His last two films were flops and his producer is antsy for another hit. Guido is also entering this project without the script. That’s never a good thing. »

Robert Rodriguez updates us on the highly anticipated Sin City 2 There has been much speculation over the last few years about if and when a sequel to the groundbreaking 2005 film, Sin City, based on the popular graphic novel by comic book legend Frank Miller, who co-directed the film with Robert Rodriguez, would ever be made. Originally Miller had stated that the sequel would be based on his classic Sin City story, "A Dame To Kill For," with Angelina Jolie rumored for the part. Later, Miller was quoted as saying that he wanted to adapt "Hell and Back" for Sin City 3 and that Rodriguez was interested in casting Johnny Depp for the lead. Then in October, producer Stephen L'Heureux said that he hoped Sin City 2 would go into production sometime in the second half of 2010 and that the film would now be based on an original screenplay by Miller. »

The trailer for Shrek Forever After has been released, and you can check it out by clicking on the Trailer tab above, or by heading over to Apple where it's also available in a variety of high def QuickTime sizes.
You can also check out the official poster below.
In the new film, Shrek is feeling over-domesticated. He has lost his roar. He used to send villagers running away in terror. Now they run to him and ask him to sign their pitchforks and torches. To regain his ogre mojo, he strikes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin. The pact goes awry and Shrek must confront what life would be like in Far Far Away if he had never existed. That translates into Donkey being forced into cart-pulling duty, fat and lazy Puss in Boots trading his sword for a pink bow and the underhanded Rumpelstiltskin ruling the kingdom.

I must confess I could not hide a little smile when Puss in Boots declares in this trailer that Shrek Forever After is "the final chapter." Talk about a franchise that went nowhere. Actually, that's not 100% fair: The best development in the series was Antonio Banderas' Puss in Boots, and he wasn't around until the first sequel. Beyond that, though? Pretty stagnant.
In the fourth movie, it appears the world of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and Puss in Boots is turned upside down. We're told it's some kind of curse, like they all got together to watch The Love Guru or something. Anyway, it's not all happily ever after in Far Far Away.
Even though it's in 3-D, Shrek Forever After doesn't appear any different. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. When I saw a production still, it did give the impression of having a slightly more realistic look, »

Actress Melanie Griffith's black eye has been explained - it stems from cancer surgery.
The Working Girl star has been keen to cover up the shiner, wearing dark glasses in public - but one recent shot caught her off guard and led to speculation about how she came by the bruised face.
Now her publicist has told TMZ.com the black eye was the result of a surgical procedure to remove early stages of skin cancer from her face.
It has been a tough year for the star - in August, she checked into a rehab facility in Utah after struggling with a dependency for painkillers.
According to her husband, Antonio Banderas, the actress felt her resolve weaken after three operations on her knee following a skiing accident at the start of 2008 and feared taking the medication she was prescribed to numb the pain would tempt her back onto harder drugs.
Griffith is a recovering addict.
Banderas explained, "In March, she came to me and said, 'I'm feeling a little bit weak in my determination for this (to stay sober)... so I just thought to go to rehabilitation by myself.'" »

Melanie Griffith has undergone surgery to remove the early stages of skin cancer from her face. The Working Girl star made her treatment public after she was photographed sporting a bruise under her right eye. Speculation had been mounting as to how Griffith, 52, had obtained the dark mark. Spokeswoman Robin Baum said the cancer-removing procedure had been performed early enough to prevent any further complications. Griffith, who is married to actor Antonio Banderas, is best known for her role in 1988 movie Working Girl, which won her a Golden Globe and earned her an Academy Award nomination. But the actress was also battling a drink-and-drug addiction and checked into rehab that same year. »

The fourth and final Shrek movie, Shrek Forever After, now has a teaser trailer and a poster. I’m not sure if I’m excited about the new promotional materials or that it’s the last one being made. It’s the latter. DreamWorks Animation may be moving on with sequels to the successful Kung Fu Panda, but not before one last withdrawal from the Shrek bank (now with 3-D premium bonuses).
The story is a fairy tale rehash of It’s a Wonderful Life where Shrek “falls victim to a terrible curse” by the evil Rumpelstiltskin and sees what Far Far Away is like without him. Mike Myers returns to voice the lovable ogre, along with Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas, who is getting his own spin-off when Puss in Boots comes out in 2011.
Take a look at the teaser trailer and poster below:

DreamWorks Animation has debuted the first teaser trailer for Shrek Forever After on Apple. With the highly anticipated opening of Avatar this weekend, every studio is releasing every last trailer they've got, especially for any 3D movies. The premise in this one asks what would Far Far Away be like if Shrek never existed? It looks okay, but I'm tired of this franchise. The huge voice cast for Shrek Forever After includes Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, Amy Poehler, John Lithgow, Maya Rudolph, Amy Sedaris, Eric Idle, Larry King, and Regis Philbin. The past couple of days before the Christmas holiday have been packed with teaser trailers and full-length trailers for some of the hottest upcoming movies 2010 has to offer. We've had previews for Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Hot Tub Time Machine (What? I can't wait for that one!) and now Shrek Forever After, which DreamWorks is calling The Final Chapter. And maybe it's a good thing to take a bit of a break from Shrek after his last time out really didn't inspire too many people to sign petitions in favor of another sequel. But then 3D happened, and, well, how do you not make a Shrek film in 3D?
So here we are -- Apple has the new teaser trailer for Shrek Forever After, which stars all the old reliable voice cast (Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Cameron Diaz, as well as newbies like Kathy Griffin »

The first trailer for Shrek Forever After, the fourth installment in the Shrek franchise, has popped up online. We’ll direct you there in a second.
If you haven’t yet heard what the film is about, here’s quick rundown:
Longing for the days when he felt like a “real ogre,” Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking deal-maker, Rumpelstiltskin (see pic above) and finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo all he’s done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.
Sounds like a good time (maybe). Without further delay, here’s a link to the HD trailer:
