Lists related to Sam Raimi
Most of them are only wannabes anyway.
The horror.... the horror...
The media wants you to believe they are desirable, so you buy their movie tickets, dvds, concert tickets etc.
But don't let them fool you!
I see more beautiful women on the street everyday and their faces aren't buried under ten layers of makeup!
To the untrained eye, this list may appear sadist, but let me assure you:
When looking at these "stunners", I'm at my most masochist.
I always try to, but unfortunately I don't have the time to read all comments, so for crucial suggestions (people I overlooked etc.), please contact me via private message.

My absolute favorite filmmakers and screenwriters. In no particular order.
I want to put a list out there that includes directors and writers. So lets see how it turns out.....just this way....
These are the guys and gals that influence me like crazy. THIS LIST IS NOT IN ANY RANKING ORDER. SO before all you trolls start putting your greasy fingers to work on the keyboard to respond on how much you disagree, remember that this is MY list and no matter how much you feel the need to inquire, not one thing will change unless I want it to. But do know that I intend to update this list as my knowledge progresses.
In my opinion, these are the most talented directors in the world. (No particular order)
The Top Directors are chosen because of their success at the box office Academy Awards and other major award ceremonies as well as average Top1000Voters Imdb Scores and considering to a lesser grade some critics.Anything else would be personal taste and therefore meaningless.
As with my other lists, not the best, just my favourite. Also, as with my other lists, they are not in any order (except for number 1) other than the order I remembered them in.
Filmmakers who continue pushing boundaries. Future projects are highly anticipated.
Suggestions/comments welcome.
Suggestions/comments welcome.
Simply a list of all the directors of films that I've seen. It's used to correspond with my list entitled Every Film Seen.
There are a lot of other directors that I haven't seen enough movies of, but these are my favourites at the moment
This is a list of celebrities I "want" to meet in no particular order. This will be updated from time to time

To qualify they have to have made at least 3 Horror movies I feel are great. So many have made one or two that I love so I capped it at 3 minimum to make it a workable list.
Below is a list of my favourite directors. The list it in order up untill the 7th and then the rest are too hard to put in order.
What I have here is a small list of my favorite directors. I'm only twenty years old, and I've only cared about directors for about seven years, so I'm sure there are many directors that I would benefit from knowing.
Brilliant minds, in my opinion. I'd love to be directed by them someday.
Filmmakers that have directly inspired me to become a filmmaker and some that I'm just a big fan of.
There are a lot of elements that go into making a movie. But what it comes down to is the director. It's up to the director to give the audience a cinematic experience they won't forget. Here's my list of the best directors.
Actors, directors, etc.. If these people are attached I will most likely see it whether it looks to be up my alley or not. I have had so many pleasant surprises so far.
Here are the people that have constantly delivered amazing films, in my eyes anyways.

Directors who often also write their own films, therefore being very responsible for how they turn out, which often results in a unique style (like Bergman's Dramas and Chaplin's comedies).
"In film criticism, auteur theory holds that a director's film reflects the director's personal creative vision"
I also include directors who only writes screenplay if the films still clearly reflects the director's vision, Kubrick for example.
This is a work in progress, so feel free to name missing ones.

Somewhat in order, some may be a few spots lower or higher. I don't see the top 3 changing any time soon, though.
Please Note: In rare cases (such as the Wachowski's), two entries can count as one.
Well, like I said, this is my opinion. It can be different from yours, so don't freak out. And you can comment anytime, I'll try to respond :)
There are many horror directors who I have yet to see their work, being: Christopher Smith, John Carpenter (seen some of them, but too few to say that I know his work), Greg McLean (only seen "Rogue"), Tobe Hooper (haven't seen anything besides "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Poltergeist")

This is not a list of the 30 greatest directors of all time. These are just my personal favorites. Honorable mentions include Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch, Sam Mendes, Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, Kevin Smith, Terrence Malick, Milos Forman, Roman Polanski, Sergio Leone, William Friedkin and John Hughes.
These are just a bunch of directors that I know are famous.
I know I'm probably missing some great, well-known directors, and that I have some on here that some of you think are awful, so please don't post any comments insulting what you think is my lack of knowledge in general or in film! Thank you :)
Also, are there any directors that you think I should add? I'd like to know! :)

My opinion of actors is as such: There are 3 ways to become a great actor; looks, talent, or dedication.
However, Talent can be based largely on opinion, and Looks even more so. But Dedication is the one quality that cannot be undermined. You have to admire someone who commits themselves to the work of an actor, knowing that they may or may not ever see something accounting to recognition for it. Mr. DiCaprio is an actor who I believe has been blessed with all three qualities.
Do I consider him one of the greatest actors of all time? No, he's 37, he has a LONG way to go before anyone can consider that. But I do consider him an actor who strives to one day be regarded as such. Looking through his resume, he is a guy who has since the beginning done roles in an attempt to be taken seriously and regarded for his dedication and acting, as opposed to just his looks.
He doesn't do stupid films that only strive to make money, he is in this for the long run, which can be seen most clearly by his choice of films. Every film he chooses is a serious role (Catch Me If You Can may be an exception, but it has its share of serious moments). He pairs himself with many of the best directors of the age. Here is a list of reputable directors Mr. DiCaprio has worked with in his career.
Note, This isn't a list of every director he's worked with.

These are directors that I still have respect for, and find their movies to be good, even if they've had a few bad ones. I also list my favorite film they did, and my least favorite.
no ranking
i know there are more people who deserve one but i even do not know them all ;D
please give me a comment.

This is probably a pretty commonplace list seeing as I'm going off of only what I have watched personally, but I will be making changes as they happen. And I would like to apologize for overlooking classic film gods like Hitchcock, Kubrick, and Kurosawa, because again I'm going only off of what I have seen. Please discuss!
This is the second, and final, half of the list from the book, "501 Movie Directors" edited by Steven Jay Schneider. From Paul Mazursky to David Gordon Green.
List In Progress. After #5, the whole thing is randomly selected in that place. I do NOT think Kevin Smith is a better director than Richard Donner, the whole thing is random. The only exception is if it is a director duo, then I put both names together. Aside from that, this whole thing is random
Directors who have made some great movies and there must see action movies.
Self explanatory list here, but I have included directors that have only made two or three movies that I really enjoyed, like John Landis or Ridley Scott for example.
After a detailed analysis of all my personal movies ratings, I have made up this list listing my 10 best directors from all over the world, throughout any time. My Ranking and analysis points for each Director are also mentioned.
LIST WILL BE UPDATED ROUGHLY EVERY MONTH.
LIST WILL BE UPDATED ROUGHLY EVERY MONTH.
In no particular order. These are mostly just people who directed my favorite movies.
Of course, this is only my opinion, and you don´t have to agree with it...
These are directors only THAT I KNOW. I mean, I know Federico Fellini, Fred Zinnemann, D.W. Griffith, Alain Resnais, Elia Kazan, Bernardo Bertolucci and Sergio Leone, sure... but I haven't seen anything from them so I can't list them for now.
The neat filmmakers who have either starred as themselves or made an interesting albeit brief movie appearance.
Not the best directors just my opinion on my favorite ones. Let me know if you think i missed any.
List of directors in order of highest average rating for their films. This list does not include television, documentary, writing and producing outside of directing, straight-to-TV or video work, and guest directing work nor does it include work with less than 15,000 votes by IMDb Users. I decided to make an exception for Sergio Leone's "Duck, you Sucker" as it almost has 15,000 votes. Buster Keaton is not included due to having an average rating of 8.3 based upon only one film having enough votes.

This is a list of my favorite Horror/disturbing movie directors. The list is in no particular order. Mostly people who make some really gory, violent, and disturbing movies. Everything from indie people to big guys! These peoples movies rock and will mess up your head!
A list of directors I enjoy watching (in no particular order). This is not a judgement of their directorial ability. This is simply mentioning people who have directed movies I have enjoyed watching. Please suggest any additions in the comment section if you feel the need to do so.
They might be a director, writer, actor, or producer. I don't find them talented and I do not think they deserve the success they have received, if any.
My list of the most outstanding directors in the world of horror.
My IMDB rankings of Directors. I must have seen at least 4 movies by a director to make the list. I know there are some great directors not mentioned...but i have yet to see 4 of their movies. The average is their average rating that I have given them.
20 of my personal favorite directors (living)...in no particular order. Somewhat in order.
My favorite directors and their favorite movies.
i think these people got some
sort of supernatural gift.
and, yes, i'm jealous.
of course, not everything they've
done is awesome but their best
work is close to perfection.
they do what they want and it
definitely shows in their movies!

A list of my favourite directors. These are directors that have made several films that impress me. Their name on a title would definately make me check it out. Please see my favourite actors list too.
The Top 25 Directors for the first book of the Wheel of Time Saga
I rank my favorite directors on the average rating of all there movies I have rated. Also, I must have seen at least four movies from the director to be fair, so Charles Laughten does not count. One last thing, the director must have an average of over 7.5. I rate movies as following:
10:Masterpiece
9: Excellent
8: Great
7: Good
6: O.K
5: Marginal
4: Not Good
3: Bad
2: Turrabull
1: Kill Me Please

A list of my top ten directors still alive and kicking. Most of them would probably be on my list of living or dead directors as well.
Some of my favourite Directors at the moment.. This is after about 5 years of watching films closely...
Since George Lucas revealed the news about his stepping down and the Disney/Lucasfilm alliance, I knew right away the most important factor of Episodes 7, 8, and 9 being successful would be determining who to take up Lucas' mantle. These are my top picks, in no particular order.
Here, you will see a list of all my top favorite movie filmmakers of all time. I am a huge horror movie fan, so as you will see, There will be a lot of horror filmmakers.

these 20 guys are my favorite directors! again some is missing and others should'ent have been here, I have reversed the numbers so it's a countdown!!
I devised a formula, by using average ratings per movies, to see who my favorite directors were (according to the formula). The scares are not a basic average, a few things are taken into account. Its a fun little experiment. Only directors I have seen at least 5 movies from are included, and the movies will be listen, in random order. So, here we go.
My favorite movie directors, not in any order. Also including my favorite movie from them.
01-30 the directors I LOVE
30-70 the directors I don't love but LIKE
70-80 the directors I neither love nor like, but who are GOOD anyway.

My opinion please post yours in the comments as I am very interested.
DC's legendary team of superheroes would be done justice if left in the hands of these guys
These are the film director's who have, each in their own way, both changed and inspired what is cinema. There is a difference between artists and entertainers - these directors blurred that line, as they entertained us without ever losing their artistic edge.
Directors that inspire me and serve as a guideline for my own films, both in their triumphs and mistakes. I'll put which movies inspired me. Some don't have specific films, they just inspire me.
Alphabetically by surname.
