- DirectorRuggero DeodatoStarsRobert KermanFrancesca CiardiPerry PirkanenDuring a rescue mission into the Amazon rainforest, a professor stumbles across lost film shot by a missing documentary crew. This is one of those films where the legacy is arguably more interesting than the movie, but the score is amazing. The opening titles feature a beautiful track over some shots of the rainforest, which just makes it more disturbing because you know what the film is about to show. And the track during the "adultress punishment" scene is probably the most horrific and traumatizing track I've ever heard in a horror film.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsSandra PeabodyLucy GranthamDavid HessTwo teenage girls heading to a rock concert for one's birthday try to score marijuana in the city, where they are kidnapped and brutalized by a gang of psychopathic convicts. So this one is more divisive. The soundtrack is full off oddly happy and quirky tunes, while from time to time having a sad and realisting song thrown in there. For me, it worked perfectly to make the film more disturbing and effective, although I understand people who disagree.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsDonald PleasenceJamie Lee CurtisTony MoranFifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again. This one was pretty obvious. John Carpenter has always been great at his film scores, and Halloween is by far the most recognizable. It's just great at setting the atmosphere and building suspense.
- DirectorTom HollandStarsChris SarandonWilliam RagsdaleAmanda Bearse"Fright Night" sees a teenager believing that the newcomer in his neighborhood is a vampire. He turns to an actor in a television hosted horror movie show for help to deal with the undead.Fright Night doesn't really have a disturbing soundtrack, but more of an entertaining pop vibe with the track "Come to Me" being a smooth romantic theme that you can't help but love. By far one of the soundtracks that I listen to the most.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsJason PatricCorey HaimDianne WiestAfter moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.Similar to Fright Night this one has a strong 80s pop vibe with the famous "Cry Little Sister" being the most outstanding. It just has a special charm to it, and I love it.
- DirectorDario ArgentoStarsJessica HarperStefania CasiniFlavio BucciAn American newcomer to a prestigious German ballet academy comes to realize that the school is a front for something sinister amid a series of grisly murders.Alright, so this is kind of a no-brainer. The title theme very much reminds me of a creepy music box, which I find very effective, and during some of the intense scenes the score is blasting with screaming voices and all types of sounds from hell. It's just amazing.
- DirectorChuck RussellStarsHeather LangenkampRobert EnglundCraig WassonA psychiatrist familiar with knife-wielding dream demon Freddy Krueger helps teens at a mental hospital battle the killer who is invading their dreams.Dream Warriors is just hair metal madness. It's cheesy, sure, but I love it. The title track made me get into music when I first heard it, and the other Dokken songs included are also good.
- DirectorStephen ChiodoStarsGrant CramerSuzanne SnyderJohn Allen NelsonAliens who look like clowns come from outer space and terrorize a small town. One of the most entertaining horror soundtracks for sure. It has a fun circus vibe but turned up to 11. It sets the vibe for the fun cheesefest that is this film, and it just elevates the whole thing.
- DirectorRobert HiltzikStarsFelissa RoseJonathan TierstenKaren FieldsBunks and showers are a mad stabber's beat at a summer camp strictly for teens.A score that is entertaining because of how overdramatic it is. It perfectly fits the bizarre greatness that is Sleepaway Camp, and the end-credit song is surprisingly sad and charming.
- DirectorLucio FulciStarsTisa FarrowIan McCullochRichard JohnsonStrangers searching for a young woman's missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead. Now this is one awesome score. I've always loved this film, and the score does play a part in that. The main theme is great, and the constant voodoo drums in the background set a great atmosphere.
