This list only contains movies. TV shows and Miniseries' will not be included.
Not all Horror remakes/reboots are bad, only most of 'em. Here are the ones I think warranted being made and possibly even improved upon the original.

- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsKurt RussellWilford BrimleyKeith DavidA research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.9.8/10 - Near perfect movie. Surpasses the original in every way and is a horror masterpiece.
- DirectorAlexandre AjaStarsElisabeth ShueJerry O'ConnellRichard DreyfussAfter a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents.8.5/10 - This movie gets a lot of hate, but I think it's hilarious. The gore and ridiculous kills and setting makes the rewatchability for this movie endless. Much more entertaining and violent than the original.
- DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsJeff GoldblumGeena DavisJohn GetzA brilliant but eccentric scientist begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after one of his experiments goes horribly wrong.8.2/10 - The original is good and has it's own charm, but this movie takes a very dark and vile tone in comparison. A very gross and sad movie.
- DirectorAlexandre AjaStarsTed LevineKathleen QuinlanDan ByrdA traveling family falls victim to a group of mutated cannibals in a desert far away from civilization.7.9/10 - This movie is intense pretty much from start to finish. The original Hills was infamous for being unsettling, but this one really takes it to a different level.
- DirectorFede AlvarezStarsJane LevyShiloh FernandezJessica LucasFive friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.7.7/10 - I don't really like what they did with the demons compared to the original, but there's no denying this movie's a good time from the get go. Though it's nowhere near the greatness of the originals, this still stands as a fun gross, messy slop pile of gore and gruesomeness on it's own.
- DirectorFrank OzStarsRick MoranisEllen GreeneVincent GardeniaA nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.7.7/10 - This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and it still is a great watch even to this day. This remake has a lot more soul and fun with the production design and plant effects than all other versions. The songs are top notch, and Steve Martin gives a classic performance.
- DirectorPhilip KaufmanStarsDonald SutherlandBrooke AdamsJeff GoldblumWhen strange seeds drift to earth from space, mysterious pods begin to grow and invade San Francisco, replicating the city's residents one body at a time.7.5/10 - This movie has a feeling of ever mounting dread that just doesn't go away, especially after the final scene. No other versions have been able to make me feel uneasy and on edge throughout the entirety of the viewing.
- DirectorRob ZombieStarsScout Taylor-ComptonMalcolm McDowellTyler ManeAfter being committed for 15 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution and immediately returns to Haddonfield to find his baby sister, Laurie.7.4/10 - Say what you will, but I thought this was a pretty good take on Michael's story. Not as good as the original, but it's not trying to be. It's trying to be different - and it is. Everything about the film just looks nasty and insanely good to me. This is Rob Zombie at his peak. DON'T WATCH HIS HALLOWEEN 2 THOUGH, IT'S TERRIBLE!
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsSarah PolleyVing RhamesMekhi PhiferA nurse, a policeman, a young married couple, a salesman and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall.7.2/10 - Though this is not as good as the original 'Dawn', this is still one hell of a remake. Snyder traded the comedic and classic feel of the 1978 original for angrier and meaner zombies, which works. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsNaomi WattsMartin HendersonBrian CoxA journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.7.1/10 - This is a pretty faithful remake to the original, but every filmmaking aspect of it is on a completely different level to the original. This movie does drag from time to time, but when the horror hits, it hits hard.
- DirectorDennis IliadisStarsGarret DillahuntMonica PotterTony GoldwynAfter kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging to the parents of one of the victims: a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics.7.1/10 - The original is probably more disturbing, but this is just an overall better movie. There is more meat to this version, plus the ending and deaths are better than in the OG.
- DirectorBreck EisnerStarsRadha MitchellTimothy OlyphantDanielle PanabakerAfter a strange and insecure plane crash, an unusual toxic virus enters a quaint farming town. A young couple are quarantined, but they fight for survival along with help from a couple of people.7/10 - This movie was a pleasant surprise. I didn't have high expectations, but man, this movie was intense and violent! I watched the original after, which is indeed good, but lacks the visceral punch of the remake.
- DirectorPatrick LussierStarsJensen AcklesJaime KingKerr SmithTom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders, and it seems like his old flame is the only one that believes he's innocent.7/10 - Much like Piranha 3D, I have seen this so many times. Better than the original in every way. There are so many ridiculously violent kills in this movie it's impossible not to be a fan.
- DirectorMarcus NispelStarsJessica BielJonathan TuckerAndrew BryniarskiAfter picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw-wielding loon and his family of equally psychopathic killers.6.8/10 - Lacking the griminess and sheer madness of the original, this remake still does a pretty decent job. This version is more focused on build-up and jump scares, rather than going on some insane psychedelic hellride. Though nowhere near the original, it is still a pretty intense viewing.
- DirectorTakashi ShimizuStarsSarah Michelle GellarJason BehrClea DuVallAn American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim.6.4/10 - This movie is not that good, but nor was the original. The director has had like 5 different tries to make a coherent story out of The Grudge, but it always comes out as a convoluted mess. Nevertheless, I was 9 when this movie came out and just the poster alone gave me nightmares. When I finally watched it, I was messed up for a while. It wasn't until years later when I watched the original Ju-On. Both versions are pretty close for me, but this version is simply just a prettier version with a few better scares.
