- DirectorNacho VigalondoStarsKarra ElejaldeCandela FernándezBárbara GoenagaA man accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour. Finding himself will be the first of a series of disasters of unforeseeable consequences. One of the few movies that really attempts to address the conundrums of time travel. By the end, you may not feel complete satisfaction that you now fully and forever understand time travel, but it WILL have you pondering for days. 10/10 and wonderful.
- DirectorBradley KingStarsDanielle PanabakerMatt O'LearyGeorge FinnThree friends discover a mysterious machine that takes pictures twenty-four hours into the future, and conspire to use it for personal gain, until disturbing and dangerous images begin to develop.Time travel PERFECTION. Don't be fooled by early scenes that you think you know where it's going - you do not. Completely worth your time, also, it's another 'noodle-baker'. You're welcome.
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsBruce WillisMadeleine StoweBrad PittIn a future world devastated by disease, a convict is sent back in time to gather information about the man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet. An absolute masterpiece of a film. The script? A masterpiece. The acting? Perfection.
The plot? Incredibly detailed -- gripping and intense, but also moving, filled with the ache of desire and loss. NEVER to be confused with its sadly lacking and very silly TV series. - DirectorShane CarruthStarsShane CarruthDavid SullivanCasey GoodenFour friends/fledgling entrepreneurs, knowing that there's something bigger and more innovative than the different error-checking devices they've built, wrestle over their new invention.I hate to say it, but I believe that if we ever really DID invent a time machine, this film accurately represents what would be the results. It should win an award as the most realistic time travel movie of all time.
- DirectorMichael SpierigPeter SpierigStarsEthan HawkeSarah SnookNoah TaylorAs his last assignment, a temporal agent is tasked to travel back in time and prevent a bomb attack in New York in 1975. The hunt, however, turns out to be beyond the bounds of possibility.I cannot praise this movie highly enough, nor the players. Make sure you know as little as possible about this film before diving in. Thank me later.
- DirectorEric BressJ. Mackye GruberStarsAshton KutcherAmy SmartMelora WaltersEvan Treborn suffers blackouts during significant events of his life. As he grows up, he finds a way to remember these lost memories and a supernatural way to alter his life by reading his journal.Every fan of Sci Fi and time travel should give this a go. It contains within it scenes incredibly evocative of all our childhood memories. Moments that changed us, scarred us, taught us about true love and friendship. Sounds dreadful? Not really. Plenty of meat on the bones, realistic violence and thrills. True love and friendship are the foundations however.
- DirectorRichard KellyStarsJake GyllenhaalJena MaloneMary McDonnellAfter narrowly escaping a bizarre accident, a troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a man in a large rabbit suit who manipulates him to commit a series of crimes. What can I say? Donnie Darko is a brilliant mindf*ck.
- DirectorJohn MayburyStarsAdrien BrodyKeira KnightleyDaniel CraigA Gulf war veteran is wrongly sent to a mental institution for insane criminals, where he becomes the object of a doctor's experiments, and his life is completely affected by them.Beautiful in every way. Tense and moving and incredibly well put together. Quite gripping as it unfolds and gradually reveals itself.
- DirectorGregory HoblitStarsDennis QuaidJim CaviezelShawn DoyleAn accidental cross-time radio link connects father and son across 30 years. The son tries to save his father's life, but then must fix the consequences.Although dated, it is still a near flawless Sci Fi film. Never confuse it with the truly terrible TV re-working.
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoSimon PeggThe brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.A masterful reboot of an already (often but not always) brilliant franchise.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonMichael BiehnA human soldier is sent from 2029 to 1984 to stop an almost indestructible cyborg killing machine, sent from the same year, which has been programmed to execute a young woman whose unborn son is the key to humanity's future salvation.Quite literally the most exciting and the most romantic time travel film of all time. Something here for both chick-flickers and proper blokes.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonEdward FurlongA cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten year old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg.A near perfect combination blockbuster/time travel film. James Cameron at the peak of his powers.
- DirectorColin TrevorrowStarsAubrey PlazaMark DuplassJake JohnsonThree magazine employees head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified advertisement seeking a companion for time travel. An oddball charmer of a film, I suppose some would call it quirky, but just wonderful, funny and subtle.
- DirectorStephen HerekStarsKeanu ReevesAlex WinterGeorge CarlinTwo rock-'n-rolling teens, on the verge of failing their class, set out on a quest to make the ultimate school history report after being presented with a time machine.A classic, filled to the brim with charm and humour, yet still a solid time travel story held within.
- DirectorMax BarbakowStarsAndy SambergCristin MiliotiJ.K. SimmonsStuck in a time loop, two wedding guests develop a budding romance while living the same day over and over again.A subtle gem that grows on you as it moves along. I haven't decided yet whether it breaks its own developed rules of time travel, but I love having my noodle baked, Sci Fi-wise of course.
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom CruiseEmily BluntBill PaxtonA soldier fighting aliens gets to relive the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies.Featuring the traditional extended slam-bam-explosion type of ending of most Hollywood blockbusters, this is still not enough to ruin this exciting film.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsMichael J. FoxChristopher LloydMary SteenburgenStranded in 1955, Marty McFly learns about the death of Doc Brown in 1885 and must travel back in time to save him. With no fuel readily available for the DeLorean, the two must figure how to escape the Old West before Emmett is murdered. As wonderful as the first film in this trilogy was, it had some very dubious time travel. I feel the third instalment nails it better than its predecessors.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsAmy AdamsJeremy RennerForest WhitakerA linguist works with the military to communicate with alien lifeforms after twelve mysterious spacecraft appear around the world.Beyond sublime. This movie will bake your noodle for days.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartIan McKellenHugh JackmanThe X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.A near perfect time travel film that almost stands alone. It may be hard for many to view it out of context, not knowing the players however. Is worth 'skim-watching' this particular superhero universe just to witness how well put together this time travel film really is.
- DirectorMamoru HosodaStarsRiisa NakaTakuya IshidaMitsutaka ItakuraA high-school girl named Makoto acquires the power to travel back in time, and decides to use it for her own personal benefits. Little does she know that she is affecting the lives of others just as much as she is her own.Anime at the top of its game.
- DirectorRy Russo-YoungStarsZoey DeutchHalston SageCynthy WuFebruary 12 is just another day in Sam's charmed life, until it turns out to be her last. Stuck reliving her last day over and over, Sam untangles the mystery around her death and discovers everything she's losing.Underrated gem of a film, depicting the most important arc in life - the learning of unconditional love. Very moving, and strangely underrated, likely because many are put off by the cliched opening scenes and don't stay to see the story develop.
