- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsGuy PearceCarrie-Anne MossJoe PantolianoA man with short-term memory loss attempts to track down his wife's murderer.Nolan perfects his storytelling style from Following and creates one of the best mystery thrillers I have ever seen.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.Following a solid first film, this movie set a standard that nearly all superhero movies, for better or worse, will have to live up to in the foreseeable future.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.A wonderful new take on the heist genre. Visually spectacular, with neat little details that provide hints and information to the more observant viewers.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHugh JackmanScarlett JohanssonAfter a tragic accident, two stage magicians in 1890s London engage in a battle to create the ultimate illusion while sacrificing everything they have to outwit each other.A wonderful thriller about obsession and identity. The dynamic and conflict between the two rival magicians elevates this film above the highly similar The Illusionist, which was released around the same time.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleMichael CaineKen WatanabeAfter witnessing his parents' death, Bruce learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.Seven years after Schumacher left Batman for dead Nolan comes to the rescue.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsJeremy TheobaldAlex HawLucy RussellA young writer who follows strangers for material meets a thief who takes him under his wing.Nolan at his most economic. Low budget and limited shooting time only inspire further admiration of this intelligent crime study.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsAl PacinoRobin WilliamsHilary SwankTwo Los Angeles homicide detectives are dispatched to a northern town where the sun doesn't set to investigate the methodical murder of a local teen.Based on a Swedish film of the same name, this film seemed more of a confirmation that Nolan was financially safe for studios than anything else. That said, it was financially successful because it was a well made crime film. Props to Robin Williams for acting against typecast.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsMatthew McConaugheyAnne HathawayJessica ChastainWhen Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans.Truly epic, with visuals and a soundtrack that made it a great theater experience. Unfortunately the ending seemed a little too convenient for the type of film the movie was striving to be.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane.Hat tricks are difficult, especially when they need to reasonably close a narrative arc. The Dark Knight Rises provided a reasonable conclusion to Nolan's trilogy. Unlike the first two, some plot holes in this film are just too big to ignore. Much like Interstellar, this film's ending seemed to lack impact, mostly because it went five minutes longer than it needed to.
