- DirectorAntoine FuquaStarsClive OwenStephen DillaneKeira KnightleyA demystified take on the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This film does not follow the Arthur legend very closely at all as written by Monmouth and Mallory.
It begins with Arthur being born about 30 years earlier than historians attribute his birth. The Romans are shown leaving Britain about 80 years later than they actually did leave.
Guinevere is shown as a warrior woman. Merlin is show as a Pict with no Druid factor in him.
In this film, Arthur and his knights come from the Steppes of Asia (now Ukraine). They long for their homeland of the Steppes, but decide on settling in Britain.
It does show the Battle of Badon Hill against the Saxons. Here it is depicted at Hadrians Wall, just days after the Romans had left, when in fact they had left some 80 years earlier.
Arthur is crowned King of Britain after the battle, and that's the end of the film. No Mordred. Merlin plays a very small role. No real love triangle with Lancelot, as he gets killed in the battle.
It is entertaining. I especially like the manner in which the first confrontation with the Saxons takes place on the ice and the Saxons fall through the ice. - StarsAnjelica HustonJulianna MarguliesJoan AllenTales of Camelot and Avalon, told from the perspective of the women of Uther and Arthur Pendragon's world.

- DirectorJoshua LoganStarsRichard HarrisVanessa RedgraveFranco NeroThe story of the marriage of England's King Arthur to Guinevere. The plot of illegitimate Mordred to gain the throne and Guinevere's growing attachment to Sir Lancelot, threaten to topple Arthur and destroy his "round table" of knights.
- DirectorRichard ThorpeStarsRobert TaylorAva GardnerMel FerrerKing Arthur's rule is threatened by the adulterous love between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere, a relationship the king's enemies hope to exploit.WeThis has got to be one of the worst directed films I have seen. Robert Taylor, who plays Lancelot, is a really bad actor. Ava Gardner, playing Guinevere, is the only redeeming factor in this film.
The sound is bad, as one hears reyverberations in the forest scenes.
The writing is poor, as Lancelot is supposed to come from Berwick in France. Berwick is not at all a French name.
The dialog has pauses as one actor often waits unnaturally for another to finish his dialog.
The sword fight choreography is poor as the fights are so obviously staged.
I include this film here because it is widely recognized, carries a high rating with IMDb and Ava Gardner stars, whom I highly respect as an actress. However, I believe she would recognize this film as one of her lesser performances. Even her expressions appear cued. - DirectorSidney HayersPat JacksonPeter SasdyStarsOliver TobiasJack WatsonMichael GothardThis is the inspiring, epic journey of a noble warrior's quest to prove his worth, his might, and his destined fate to become the next ruler of Britain. This film is not a complete depiction of the Arthurian legend. Guinevere is not shown in the film at all. I suppose this because the film is part of a TV series.
The sound is not very good, making the dialogue difficult to follow. - DirectorHenry HathawayStarsJames MasonJanet LeighRobert WagnerA young Viking prince strives to become a knight in King Arthur's Court and restore his exiled father to his rightful throne.
