- DirectorKatsuhiro ÔtomoStarsMitsuo IwataNozomu SasakiMami KoyamaA secret military project endangers Neo-Tokyo when it turns a biker gang member into a rampaging psychic psychopath who can only be stopped by a teenager, his gang of biker friends and a group of psychics.I like old Anime. I like creative, original anime. DBZ is an anime I will never forget in my life time. But, when I first saw Akira. It was so special, when I first rented it, I realized that I knew nothing of pure scope and amazement until I have already seen this. Amazing anime, and one of my top favorite anime s of all time.
Also it's science fiction.. ;) - StarsDoc HarrisChristopher SabatScott McNeilWith the help of the powerful Dragonballs, a team of fighters led by the saiyan warrior Goku defend the planet earth from extraterrestrial enemies.DBZ is an cartoon/anime that transcends time. It has left its mark on today's animation all across the globe. Cartoon artists and comic artists try to mimic this series but there is really only one. DBZ is something I will love till the day I die. It's a anime that I hold dear to my heart, and I love the *beep* out of this show. Almost on a personal level.
Oh, and faulconer still makes the best DBZ music, if any "Kai" version fans want to debate this. - DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsYôji MatsudaYuriko IshidaYûko TanakaOn a journey to find the cure for a Tatarigami's curse, Ashitaka finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and Tatara, a mining colony. In this quest he also meets San, the Mononoke Hime.Favorite Studio Ghibli anime. This anime is a great piece in Fantasy. I was blown away by the cell animation that was perfected by Akira. But this anime is special on a level of creativity. Studio Ghibli and Miyozaki are very damn creativity when it comes to storytelling. This anime is beautiful and still is the best Studio Ghibli film till this day in my opinion.
- DirectorToyoo AshidaStarsAkira KamiyaYuriko YamamotoKenji UtsumiIn a post-nuclear hellscape, a master of the deadly martial art "Hokuto Shinken" allies with two kids and an expert in "Nanto Suicho-Ken" to battle the tyrants who kidnapped his lover.DBZ before it was DBZ? Yes. Fist of the North Star the movie looks like it was doing things way before DBZ even tried. The anime series I yet to view, came out in the early 80's. This movie though, was the first time I saw Fist of the North Star. I was just as blown away as I was when I first saw DBZ. This movies animation is "ok" for its time. I mean the bodies transition to foreground and background not very good. But that's not what you should notice. The emphasis on gore, fighting, and martial arts is what stands out the most to me. You will believe a mans body can EXPLODE!
- DirectorYoshiaki KawajiriStarsAndrew PhilpotJohn Rafter LeePamela AdlonA legendary dhampir competes with a motley family of bounty hunters to return a young woman, who has been seemingly abducted by a vampire, to her family.I was lucky to actually come across this on Youtube one time. After I seen it, I was wondering how the F#@k could I've missed such an amazing anime film. It's got Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies, Monsters, Demons, and loads of badass fighting. But that's not what it's really about. This anime also has a deep narrative about love and acceptance. I mean the ending is just sad. The books I heard where the reason why this series is so loved. D is a badass Vampire Hunter. This I would recommend to anybody into Vampire fantasy.
- DirectorYoshiaki KawajiriStarsKôichi YamaderaEmi ShinoharaTakeshi AonoA vagabond swordsman is aided by a kunoichi and a spy in battling a demonic clan of killers - led by a ghost from his past - who are bent on overthrowing the Tokugawa Shogunate.Ninja Scroll is an awesome anime movie. It gets overlooked for its cheesiness. But really, what can you expect from a Samurai horror anime? Well, you can expect giant rock mutated psychos, shape-shifters, snake women, or anything that is supernatural to the point of fascination. That's what this anime is. A fascination for the exaggerated. And I like exaggerated stuff.
- CreatorKentaro MiuraStarsMarc DiraisonNobutoshi CannaCarrie KeranenGuts, a wandering mercenary, joins the Band of the Hawk after being defeated in a duel by Griffith, the group's leader and founder. Together, they dominate every battle, but something menacing lurks in the shadows.Another anime series I took far too long to get into many years later. I was so confused why I missed this. It has to be one of the most well done anime series when it comes to story, plot, and characters I have ever seen, that can even rival American television shows. It's so well done and put together, but the ending is what got me craving for more. And when I found out that there was no more after 25 episodes(I think) that I was crushed. I didn't want it to end. But overall an amazing series.
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsSumi ShimamotoMahito TsujimuraHisako KyôdaWarrior and pacifist Princess Nausicaä desperately struggles to prevent two warring nations from destroying themselves and their dying planet.Studio Ghibli makes some very wonderful anime films. I guess it's for the fact that they put emphasis on one character and develop a very interesting world around that character. This anime is one of them. I seen this for the first time not to long ago, and I'm completely surprised how much I enjoyed the hell out of this. It's a fantasy for adults with a childs mind(not a bad thing). And the theme of pollution and killing the natural world is strong. I would say this is my second favorite of the Ghibli anime films.
- DirectorGisaburô SugiiStarsKôjiro ShimizuKenji HagaMiki FujitaniA crime boss searching for the world's best fighters pursues a talented Japanese drifter and his American ex-classmate, while an Interpol agent and a US Army captain seek to bring him down.My favorite fighting anime right up their with the likes of DBZ, Fist of the North Star, and others. But what puts this on my list is because it's based on one of my favorite fighting game franchises. Street Fighter. I loved street fighter since I was 5-6. I remember this coming on HBO back then, and seeing it for the first time was magical. Still an anime I would watch again and again.
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsMayumi TanakaKeiko YokozawaKotoe HatsuiA young boy and a girl with a magic crystal must race against pirates and foreign agents in a search for a legendary floating castle.
- DirectorHirotsugu KawasakiNorihiko SutôKatsuhiro ÔtomoStarsShôtarô MorikuboRyuji AigaseTakehito KoyasuAn elite superhuman agent must stop a foreign military unit from seizing control of an ancient artifact that holds the key to ultimate power.Oh, man. I seen this badass cyber punk anime not to long ago. And I was amazed by the visuals. I believe this was made by the same artists who did all of Katsushiro Otomo's animes. The action is AMAZING. These types of animes is why I like anime. Its attention to detail in destruction, and that it is beautiful to watch. This is a great Sci-fi action anime that could even rival Akira.
- CreatorYoshiyuki TominoHajime YatateStarsMark GathaTomokazu SekiMatt EmbryIt is the year Future Century 60 and most of humanity has migrated to orbiting space colonies, leaving behind the polluted Earth. To prevent war, the colonies came up with the tournament known as the Gundam Fight. Every country builds a Gundam and sends it to Earth. These Gundams fight each other, using the entire planet as the ring, for eleven months until the finals begin in the country that won the last Gundam Fight. Whichever country is ultimately victorious will control the entire world for four years. This year, Neo Japan has sent Domon Kasshu with the Shining Gundam in hopes of winning the 13th Gundam Fight. However, Domon, and his assistant, Rain Mikamura, have more to worry about than winning the Gundam Fight. They have a concurrent mission, to confront and destroy the stolen Devil Gundam...I enjoy the Gundam series, but only a rare few that I would revisit time and time again. G-Gundam is personally my favorite of the Gundam series. It's exaggerated to the point of being absurd that giant robots can move like a human martial artist. Or for the fact that it almost is like "DBZ but with giant mechs". But I can't fault it for being like that. It's so awesome to see a giant mech do damage with a special attack that doesn't envolve a weapon. It's not realistic and that's why probably I'm so attached to it. Favorite Gundam series hands down.
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsHitoshi TakagiNoriko HidakaChika SakamotoWhen two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby.Another of the Studio Ghibli films that I like. This one tho, is completely different from the other three. And I mean COMPLETELY different. It's realistic. Its setting is realistic. The characters are realistic. But there is still a sense of fantasy in this anime that is very simple yet effective. I like that. Everything is realistic, but the creatures are not. I will say this a perfect anime to show a child for the first time.

- CreatorIchirô ItanoStarsMika DoiSharon HolmMasashi EbaraAn elite anti-terrorist agent battles terrorists threatening Japan, but a mysterious third player is involved in their own way.I think these late eighties animes were very hardcore and silly in their plots. I guess the whole craze was super powered humans who develop telekinesis, or armored powered suits that can crush cars. I can say I like this short anime series. I think it was 5 episodes long? But It had some awesome action, along with heavy gore, and nudity. So yes it's absurd, but an effective anime to easily entertain.
