My Top 6 Favorite John Woo Films that I love to death!
Here I am listing my top 6 favorite John Woo films. I grew up watching John Woo action flicks they are some good films that I absolutely love. There are some films he made that I absolutely hate on this list I want mentioned them on here. I have reviewed all 5 films and they are still the best in my opinion. The Killer (1989) was actually the first film I ever saw as a child and my felling's were mixed for that film. My second film was Face/Off which I was introduced in to John Woo movies, A Better Tomorrow was the third film and Mission: Impossible II was the fourth film I saw. Hard Target was the his fifth one I actually ever saw. I love this awesome Chinese movie director from Hong Kong and his action movies. The most movies I grew up were more American movies than they were Chinese. Keep up the good mr. John Woo! I don't care about A Better Tomorrow films because they all suck except part II I liked that film. I hated the first one and the third film. Once a Thief (1991) sucked and it isn't for me.

- DirectorJohn WooStarsJohn TravoltaChristian SlaterSamantha MathisTerrorists steal nuclear warheads from the U.S. military but don't count on a pilot and park ranger spoiling their plans. My Number 1 Favorite John Woo and Christian Slater number 1 favorite action movie is Broken Arrow which is an action film that I love to death. I have a poster in my frame so much I love Broken Arrow much more. R.I.P. Kelly Preston John Travolta's wife. John Travolta is in his finest in this breathtaking John Woo movie.I think is incredible classic action thriller from the 90's I have ever seen. It is going to be 20. years since this movie come out and I still love it today more than any other movie. I love John Travolta in this movie which I think he did one of his best acting performances of his life. This is not only John Woo favorite film of mine but is also Christian Slater's favorite film. I absolutely love his character Capt. Riley Hale. It is a Die Hard movie and it is incredible underrated action film. It has incredible music score theme by Hans Zimmer. It is wonderfully directed by John Woo, it has a wonderful pacing and It has a great paced on to a fight in the finale. "I say god damn what a rush!" Watching Bloodfist VI: Ground Zero which was my third film I saw in the Bloodfist series this is far way better than Bloodfist VI: Ground Zero that movie was over too short, this one right here was perfect! I love this film to death I love it!!! The stunt work in here is very dangerous and all practical real, for example Christian Slater's character is right above the ground shooting the helicopter and you see the helicopter hops right over him one in the same shoot. Christian Slater run's while John Travolta and Howie Long are trying to run over him with a army jeep Am General HMMWV M1043 and Christian Slater jumps on the back of the jeep and John Travolta hit's the back of the jeep HMMWV M1043 in front that army jeep. That stunt was real and it was really dangerous + Christian Slater slater did his own stunts. No CGI or fancy editing that was all done for real a lot of dangerous stunts in this. It is an adrenaline rush and an underrated film. No one talks about it today. I love the finale, I love the sequence on a train where Hale cut's the helicopter power line and when a pilot try's to fly off and Deakins seas gas spiting on a floor and the pilot starts the chopper and Deakins yelles "Cut the power" and the pilot shows such a weird look and when he pushes the button, the chopper blows up, killing 2 bad guys. I love the train sequences. I love how Christian Slater kills on a train one of the bad guys, he stands right before Terry and he jumps grabs the gun and and shoots the bad guy right between her legs. The last fight was fantastic between Hale and Deakins, when Hale was using one of his martial arts to defeat Deakins. The guns are used well in this movie and you will see them a lot. The explosions are fantastic in this movie. No CGI no shaky cam this is perfect underrated action movie that I love to death!
10/10 I love it to death! 10/10 for me I love this movie to death. I own the Blu-ray disc, btw this was very hard and difficult to get on Blu-ray. Hard Target was easy this movie wasn't easy to get. John Woo, John Travolta and Christian Slater all did a wonderful job. John Travolta and Christian Slater did worked twice with the director John Woo. - DirectorJohn WooStarsChow Yun-FatTony Leung Chiu-waiTeresa MoA tough-as-nails cop teams up with an undercover agent to shut down a sinister mobster and his crew.My Second Favorite John Woo film is Hard Boiled and it is also my all time favorite action film that I love to death! I absolutely love this movie to death I love it. Hard Boiled (1992) is literally John Woo's best Hong Kong action film ever made of all time! The movie is a hard-core action, I have ever seen. It is actually the best Hong Kong action film for me. Not even Jackie Chan can mess with this film or beat it. The only Jackie Chan film that is close to this film is Police Story. In my opinion Hard Boiled is John Woo's best HK action movies from the 90's and a true masterpiece along with The Killer (1989), Broken Arrow and Hard Target (1993) his first American movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme in the main role. Hard Boiled and The Killer are mine favorite John Woo's HK action movies. This action movie with twists around, The Hong Kong Cinema Hard Boiled has everything in it, no CGI, the stunts are real, the explosions are bigger and the plot of the film is amazing you can get in to the story without guessing what is going to happened and what the plot is about. The warehouse scenes and a shooting a motorcycles in an explosions from Tequila is my favorite scenes in the movies. Sometimes to me it come for this movie is similar to Miami Vice when Tony Leung was undercover cop on a boat he remind me on Sonny Crockett, but the shout outs in this film are awesome. Just Miami Vice TV series where more about drug cartels, this is arms dealer weapons about triads. The stunts are real and very dangerous. There was a hospital siege which was actually Die Hard in a hospital. Hard Boiled is a classic action film from Hong Kong, they don't make movies like this anymore. Phillip Chan is also in this film which I forgot to mention in my review Philip Chan was also in Van Damme's Bloodsport. You have a great action sequences in the tea house, where the guns are hitting in the bird cage, he shoots a dozen guys and saves a baby, the hospital sequences are real. The first time I saw this film I had no idea that how great film it is, the greatest movie of all time in the cinema. John Woo is also as a bartender in this film. The hospital sequences for me is real, the action is real. The best Chow Yun-Fat and John Woo movie ever made.
10/10 I love this movie to death it is my favorite Hong Kong Action film and it is my second favorite John Woo film that I love. It is also my favorite action film in my top 10 favorite action films. I own the Blu-ray disc and this movie was also very hard to get on Blu-ray. My supplier couldn't get it, it took him very hard to get this film. I am happy I have an English audio in this film which I love it to death. - DirectorJohn WooStarsJohn TravoltaNicolas CageJoan AllenTo foil a terrorist plot, FBI agent Sean Archer assumes the identity of the criminal Castor Troy who murdered his son through facial transplant surgery, but the crook wakes up prematurely and vows revenge."In order to trap him, he must become him."
Number 3 yes I put Face/Off above Hard Target now because I love John Travolta and he wasn't a fucking egomaniac like Van Damme was on the set of Hard Target and this movie wasn't over dramatic and lame action like Hard Target. It s my childhood film and at least this movie has much better girl in the film Dominique Swain than Yancy Butler. Good music soundtrack. It has the same army jeep General HMMWV M1043 just like in Broken Arrow. It has a fist fight between Travolta and Cage. I like both the actors. Face/Off is about a terrorist, Castor Troy (Nicholas Cage) that attempts to kill FBI agent Sean Archer (John Travolta), but ends up killing his son. Then years go by and Sean finally catches Castor and knocks him out cold. Castor is then put in a coma, and Sean finds out that Castor has a bomb planted somewhere, and the only people that know about it is Castor himself and his brother, Pollux (Alessandro Nivola). Sean then goes into a procedure where doctors remove his face, and put Castor's face on to Sean's so that he can go to a prison to find out info about the bomb from Pollux. Then Castor wakes up with no face, forces the doctors to put Sean's face on to his, and he torches everything so that no one knows about the procedure. Now it is up to Sean (in Castor's body) to stop Castor (in Sean's body) as Castor has some deliciously evil plans up his sleeves. The action, just like Broken Arrow, is the best part of the movie. It has quite a bit of explosions, gun firing, violence, etc. I love how, also like Broken Arrow, we get an incredible showdown between the villan and the hero towards the end. Bottom line, Face/Off is a wicked cool action film and is just as amazing as Broken Arrow on so many levels.
10/10 I love this movie it is my favorite John Woo flick. - DirectorJohn WooStarsBen AffleckAaron EckhartUma ThurmanWhat seemed like a breezy idea that would net an engineer millions of dollars ends up leaving him on the run for his life and trying to piece together why he's being chased.Number 4 favorite film is Paycheck which a lot of people doesn't like and they think is terrible. I enjoy this movie, I think is pretty good. Paycheck (2003) is very underrated John Woo's solid action futuristic thriller, that combines spectacular action sequences with a spellbinding mystery that keeps you guessing from beginning to breathtaking end. It is my John Woo's fourth favorite action film of his, that I absolutely love to death. I know a lot of people don't like this movie because it is John Woo's movie and it is rated PG-13, I love it. Paycheck is written by short story of the same name by science fiction writer Philip K. Dick., who also wrote a story for Total Recall for Schwarzenegger. This flick is outstanding and Ben Affleck's character is well written and decent. Paycheck is a film that I feel is underrated (I enjoyed the story/ideas, the 'writing your own future, and then living the future you wrote after your memory has been wiped' aspect, the cast (I am a fan of Ben Affleck), the 'Sci-Fi' MacGyver aspect, the action bits which were there. I love the story I love Ben Affleck's character that he is a computer engineer who is working for company's and after he is done, they erasing his memories, he later accepts the job by friends company signs a three year contract and starts working on something big. Three years later, he thinks he won $92.000.000, but he is later double-crossed and chased by FBI and ruthless mercenaries. He finds an envelope with 20 subjects who helps him out of the trouble. The film is surrounded with mystery around that ask you questions. The action sequences are great, the motorcycle chase sequence is my favorite chase scene. Wolfe fires Beretta 92FS-C in Rachel full clip from his car, that scene was awesome. Ben Affleck uses his martial arts to defend him self against guys who try's to kill him. This is a futuristic science fiction action film that I absolutely love to death. The cast is great and did outstanding job. Uma Thurman wasn't annoying like she is in other films she made. A lot of actors in here are connected to Batman, that is what I talked about in my review and Ben Affleck's character is decent and well written. This film is my Ben Affleck favorite film too and I will watch this movie any time.
10/10 I love this movie it is my favorite John Woo flick. - DirectorJohn WooStarsChow Yun-FatDanny LeeSally YehA disillusioned assassin accepts one last hit in hopes of using his earnings to restore vision to a singer he accidentally blinded. The Killer (1989) is in my opinion John Woo's masterpiece and one of the best classic action films from Hong Kong I have ever seen. It is one of my personal favorite John Woo action movies. This film has everything, it has even a sad ending, which neither one action movie has that kind of ending. Chow Yun-Fat gave us one of his best performances ever, Danny Lee was outstanding as Hong Kong Police officer. The action, the gore, the violence, the gun play everything is in this movie. The final showdown in the church was one the best action scenes ever made in a film. It is my fifth favorite John Woo film! The first four will be Hard Target (1993), Hard Boiled (1992), Broken Arrow (1996) and Paycheck (2003) this is the fifth John Woo favorite action film of mine that I love to death. Chow Yun-Fat's character Ah Jong was well written and well done, but it isn't close as is his character Insp. 'Tequila' Yuen from Hard Boiled. This is was the first film with John Woo as I have saw when I was 10. Years old, I think I was 12 or 13 when I first time saw Hard Boiled, but still I had no Idea both of the movies are from same director with the same actor. I love this movie to death and it is one of my favorite action movies. The Killer gained numerous international accolades for Woo and its influence can be seen in countless action films in the following decades including in the movies directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. The action is, as always with a John Woo movie, spectacular but the characters are well developed and the story is very engaging. It's not quite as big in scale as Hard Boiled but it's still very well paced with plenty of great action. What is it about Hit men in movies that they are always so damn cool? Like Hard Boiled, the music is pretty cheap and forgettable sounding but it doesn't detract from the action. We get the doves, the slow-mo and the religious imagery aplenty in this film and as with Hard Boiled there is little to find fault with. I still love Hard Boiled better than The Killer because Hard Boiled has happy ending and The Killer has not a happy ending, but still I love this movie and it is an action Classic and John Woo directing this movie did the best job ever as been the director and a writer the same time. This man John Woo is outstanding and the actors are just amazing, the characters are well written and the chemistry between Chow Yun-fat and Danny Lee is well written and are making a great due as the opposite team.
10/10 I love this movie it is my favorite John Woo flick. - DirectorJohn WooStarsJean-Claude Van DammeLance HenriksenYancy ButlerA woman hires a drifter as her guide through New Orleans in search of her missing father. In the process, they discover a deadly game of cat and mouse behind his disappearance."Don't hunt what you can't kill."
One of the greatest my personal favorite best action John Woo-Van-Damme action style movie! Hard Target (1993) is one of the greatest and the best action packed movie in a John Woo-Van-Damme Style! Of all Van Damme movies this one of his, is the best of Van Damme ever and I absolutely love it to death. Like the title says Don't hunt what you can't kill. It is my John Woo's number 1 personal favorite action flick of all time, that I love to death. It is also one one of my personal favorite action films of all time. The thrill of the hunt. It's the ultimate drug, and the more intense the rush, the higher the price. International superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme teams up with world-famous action director John Woo for this electrifying thriller Van Damme is the target of an evil mercenary (Lance Henriksen) who recruits homeless combat veterans for the "amusement" of his clients - bored tycoons who will pay a half a million dollars to stalk and kill the most challenging prey of them all: Man. Laced with dark humor and slam-packed with electrifying action Hard Target is a must see for action fans. Hard Target is not only my John Woo favorite film, it is also my Jean-Claude Van Damme favorite best action film from my favorite action star. I put this film over Die Hard, this is my Die Hard movie. I love that the stunts were realistic I think that John Woo didn't allow Van Damme to make his own stunts and it is a shame that Jean-Claude Van Damme *beep* up his chance with John Woo by making on another film. It is Van Damme's ego fault. Still they don't make movies like this. The stunts are crazy, the action are spectacular. Van Damme catching a snake wow incredible. (at one point, a movie's typical crazy stuntman; firing the Beretta 92FS 9mm while standing on the seat of a motorcycle and crashes in to the car.) Still the motorcycle chase sequence is my favorite scene in the film. Van Damme "launches thousands of bullets, slugs, and explosive projectiles into THIRTY of mercenary tycoons baddies." Arnold Vosloo is also underrated actor who plays Pik van Cleef he did a really pretty good job as the villain and Fouchon second mercenary henchman. Possibly best role for him. "I don't get angry. I'm a professional." I love this movie the action is delivered perfectly. Honestly I love Arnold Vosloo more in this movie than Lance Henriksen and I love his character Pik van Cleef. The trill of the hunt. It's the ultimate drug and the more intense the rush, the higher the price. Hard target was the film is saw as a teen when I was 18, I couldn't saw it as a kid I really don't know, it was never on TV and I have never seen a VHS cover in a video store. I didn't even know that movie exists. Hard Target is a 1993 action film that marked the US directorial debut of acclaimed Hong Kong director John Woo, who brought out his Asian style of action to Western cinema.
10/10 for me I love this movie to death, It is my number 1 favorite action film.
