- 1942, a photojournalist comes from Moscow to the southwestern front to capture a unique record for history - the 600th fascist killed by one person - sniper Nikolay Slepkov. The hero himself, a gloomy and silent recluse, avoids the hype. But others talk about him.
- When the German invaders come to the Don, the hero of the First World War, Semyon Neupokoev, gathers a hundred Cossacks and stands up to defend his native land. The experience of battles with the Germans in 1914-1918, for which the fearless and savvy warrior received the nickname Conspiracy, helps his hundred defeat German units in 1942, although the Germans now have tanks and guns, and the Cossack still has the same saber, horse, and steppe all around. To break the resistance of the Conspiracy One and his loyal fighters, the enemy throws in superior forces and equipment, led by an experienced commander - Colonel Ritter, who has had his own scores to settle with Neupokoev since the First World War.
- Former policeman Ivan meets his sworn enemy in the courtroom, who killed his partner six years ago and then sent him to jail. But fate makes its own adjustments to his plans: Ivan gets into a terrible accident. For several weeks, doctors fight for his life, the main character survives, but loses his memory: he does not remember who he is, who hired him and whom he must kill. He does not remember anything and thus gets an unexpected chance at a new life.
- After faking his own death a notorious gangster Volkov retires overseas and gets a new identity. When 20 years later his parents die in a car accident, he secretly returns to his hometown. It turns out that a nephew of a local mobster is responsible for his parents death, so, Volkov brushes up on his gangster past and kills the man. In the unfolding battle between the old-newcomer and local crime bosses only one thing is clear - in order to survive, Volkov must clean up his hometown from criminals. To do that, he creates and executes an elaborate strategy, taking out one gangster after another.
- Nikolay Morozov has been both a revolutionary and a terrorist in his long life. Sentenced to a lifetime of hard labour, he spent 30 years in a tsarist prison. His hair had long turned grey by the time the Second World War broke out, but when he realised his country needed him he volunteered for the army. Nikolay was 87 at the time.
