- A retired midwife is killed at home. Was this a burglary gone wrong? The victim was a former politician. Perhaps an act of political vengeance? Margot and Arthur believe there's something else. A hunch which is confirmed when they learn that she lied to her daughter about her origins.
- The body of record dealer Jocelyn Gallois is found in a former US Army base. He's been shot in the head with a Colt 45, a weapon used by US troops in the 1960s, when the camp was still in operation.
