- Twenty-five year old Andrea works no more than five hours a week in events planning, never having worked in a full time job for more than seven days consecutively in her life. Of Salvadoran ancestry, she believes, as is her culture, that parents are responsible for their children until the children get married. As such, she has no issue living off Nora, her mother, spending on clothes (jeans being her passion), partying, beauty treatments and other self-indulgences. After graduating from university two years ago, she got a paid vacation to Europe, and money which was supposed to last the entire trip. She ran out of money three weeks in, Nora advancing her emergency funds which she has no intention of paying back. She has been living on her own for four months, Nora having paid half the rent and half the food so far. And when Nora doesn't pay for food, Andrea just takes it from Nora's house. Andrea realizes full well what she is doing, namely manipulating people selfishly to get her way, seemingly without guilt. She is close to $50,000 in debt. She also has plans to go back to school in her want to become a Montessori teacher, a plan which is unattainable until her debt is paid off. Not an official challenge but a reality, Andrea has to get a real job. Gail makes Andrea face the reality of life on her limited income, and see if she is willing to do whatever it takes to get a job.
