- The automated bureaucratic system of the Papaya Office warns that Cacupé will turn 13, the age at which all the children of the island have to leave their bulls. In other words, Sócrates and Cacupé will have to split up. And if the bull is excited about this new phase of his life, the boy is willing to do anything to stay with his best friend.
- Hermano gets very upset when he finally realizes what everyone on the island already knows - that his son is not very bright. He refuses to accept this and wants to prove that his son is "smart as his papá." He sells everything he owns to buy sophisticated equipment to hunt down the Bernúncia, a legendary creature that has not been found for generations and that only the most intelligent people are able to find.
