- Ahmad Shamlou is the most prominent and one of the most popular of contemporary poets in the history of Persian literature. Nevertheless, his gravestone has been demolished and destroyed many times by the Iranian authorities since he passed away in the year 2000. Due to his bold and open statements opposing the oppression in the country, Shamlou was prosecuted numerous times by the Iranian government . As a result, the regime did not allow publication of his work during the last three decades of his life. But how can it be that he has remained so popular amongst the different generations in Iran and how could he achieve such an important place in the hearts of both intellectuals and ordinary people? The short documentary "Shamlou - The Greatest Lover, The Most Alive" strives to give a clear and concise answer to these questions by exposing Shamlou's progressive statements, his unique style of poetry and the image he evokes in the minds of so many.
