- In the North-West of the isle of Ireland, the border between the Republic of Ireland and the UK runs in the middle of a beautiful glacial fjord, the Carlingford Lough. The Carlingford Ferry crosses the Carlingford Lough on a daily basis, bringing people from one side to the other. We meet several characters from North and South, with different points of view, making this soothing journey through the magnificent, green Irish landscape. The short journey is breaking the rush of the day and provokes moments of inner reflection while crossing the invisible border, deep down in the lough. The film explores the concept of identity and community on an isle divided by not one, but 2 borders: a physical one between the UK and Ireland, and mental border between seemingly incompatible opinions on the role and signification of the border. Opinions that often tend to change when personal factors surpass the ideological. The water between each side may be very deep, they all have the unpredictable weather in common. But does the local expression '4 seasons in one day' only reflect on the weather?
- In the northernmost part of Sweden and Norway, a conflict over land and borders seems to be eternally ongoing. Simon and Beatrice Marainen and their three kids are a part of an indigenous Sami semi-nomadic community of reindeer herders, that have traditionally always moved freely across northern Scandinavia, following the natural movement of their herds. But today, nationalism, bureaucracy and politics are a threat against their traditional way of life.
- At the border between Serbia and Croatia, a region where the bloody Yugoslav War is still resonating, there is a heap of sand in the Danube that someone wants to turn into a new nation: Liberland. This micro-nation was founded in 2015 by a Czech politician who claims to have planted his flag on this no man's land. As the first president of Liberland, he is fully busy shaping his country. But, although Liberland is supported by thousands of aspirant citizens worldwide, there is nothing more yet today than the heap of sand. Is it idealism or are there other goals?
- Naked middle-aged man comes out of the sea and starts to climb up steep rocks of a deserted island. Soon he descends to a big empty sandy beach where his wife and a six-year-old daughter are passing time. Their mutual inability to communicate (woman refuses to interact with the man, girl is bored playing in the sand...) is being observed by another woman who is fishing in a boat anchored in front of the beach. When tension develops into violence, the three members of the family will become two, and finally - at the open sea - only one person remains trapped by its own emotions.
- A young Indian warrior becomes increasingly obsessed with a deer he is hunting.
