- Star and Jamie are having a typical candlelit date when she walks into the bathroom, her makeup smudged from crying. Jamie notes this but doesn't ask what's wrong. As we learn more about the young couple, Star begins to tell her boyfriend the story of how her great-grandparents fell in love. The lines between past and present are blurred in this film with a reference to the charter of values affecting present-day Quebec politics when Nicholas, Star's great-grandfather, is seen meeting Mary upon his arrival to Montreal, as a lonely Italian immigrant during the Great Depression. Their first meeting, their first dance, are all told in contrast to Star, who is in the middle of producing a film of her own. Yet when a strange event occurs as Jamie and Star are on their way to the set, she realizes there may be a touch of fate on her current work.
- The Archer is a warrior of her time. She is brave, strong, and independent in a futuristic world where most are left to fend for themselves. She is on the run from a government organization after hijacking their plan for a nuclear war.
- A young director takes us on a journey from her home city of Montreal to the heart of Vancouver where she looks to advance her film career, all while sharing a powerful story of struggle and perseverance after enduring an abusive childhood.
