- Riley Joseph is taking a trip. Traveling makes her jumpy and the phone calls from her over-tending friend Brenna aren't helping. Riley winds through the back roads of a California coastal oblivion. At the most remote portion of her journey her car fails her. She waits half the day for help, but when the massive truck pulls in behind her she begins to feel something is very wrong. Is it in her mind? Is it Brenna's suggestions playing upon her vulnerability? Or is the stranger now approaching her hunting these lonely roads for prey?
- In 1827, Anton Sukorov and his young daughter were expelled from Fort Ross for their pagan beliefs. All thought they had been committed to oblivion within the sky-devouring California redwood groves...but families survive. Present day, Jasmine is a commercial real estate agent scouting unincorporated land for a resort project. Amid the silent decay of the forest she finds Sukorov's descendants consumed by raging fear and murderous hysteria. Once inside their universe she may never be able to return home.
- A young girl awakens to the dichotomies between her parents' values and their practices. Her growing disillusionment and the lack of guidance leave her feeling more and more abandoned in what seems to be a an increasingly dark world. Based on a poem by Rosemary Griggs, this short piece addresses the difficulties we all have in trying to contextualize our experiences within our belief systems.
