- As you walk through lush forests, there's a wonderful world full of living things such as trees, birds, and flowers. Unless you look carefully, you'll miss all the wee little creatures blending in. One could look like tree bark, or fallen leaves, or even a root ball. The Wee Littles are a teensy, tiny family of four that could be right under your nose, and you'd never see them. To enter their world, you'll need to get down really low on your belly to see things from their view. It's a world where ferns tower high like trees, and trees are like skyscrapers. The heart of the Wee Littles is set within a family of four: a young girl named Bitsy, her little brother Itsy, their mother Mini, their father Teensy, and their pet earthworm, Jeremy Throckmorton III. They're shy and to avoid being seen by us big folk, they adorn themselves with forest things. Bitsy wears an acorn cap. Itsy wears a root-ball helmet, even their cosy home looks like a stump covered in moss. As our young audience can relate, life is very different when you're small. The Wee Littles' stories are about how they handle being tiny and to do it in their own style. How do you deal with a housefly in the kitchen when it's as big as a beagle? Or how do you keep dry when raindrops are the size of your head? It's one thing when your dog digs holes in the garden, but it's bonkers to have a pet earthworm dig a hole and then disappear in it! The Wee Littles work together to sort out how to overcome life's little obstacles by using imagination, positive support, and humour. Mini is the family's idea generator and likes to sketch them out. Teensy is the builder who makes Mini's drawings work. Itsy and Bitsy learn from their parents by watching, following, and sharing. They'll even come up with some nifty ideas of their own. The Wee Littles communicate through squeaks, whistles, and other animal sounds. Rather than speak, they squeak! They have a unique friend that speaks to them and her name is the "Off Screen Friend". We don't see her, but we hear her get as confused, excited, and giggly as the Wee Littles.
