- A scrupulously honest cop refuses kidnappers' demands at grave risk to the life of his son. The son is rescued but lives forever scarred by his father's willingness to sacrifice his own son for the sake of his principles. This works out to devastating effect when the son grows up to be a Mafia don, and his father is assigned the job of bringing him in.
- After completing his studies in London, England, Shakti Thakur returns home to India in a small town where his family resides. Accompanying him is his leggy girlfriend, Anita, who he is in love with and wants to marry, much to the disapproval of his family. After a few days, Shakti starts to feel that nothing much has changed in this part of India and longs to return, as he is unable to bear the animosity between the townspeople, in general, and in particular between his Zamindar dad, Raja Thakur, and rival Zamindar Birju, none other than Raja's crippled brother. When Anita leaves the town to meet her parents elsewhere in India, Shakti too wants to follow her, but his plans change suddenly when his father passes away, and the region is ravaged by unprecedented natural calamities. Following the funeral he decides to stay on to look after the family estate and business temporarily, and that is when he meets local town belle, Gehna, who has given her heart to him years ago, hopes to marry him, with approval from his very own family. Anita returns to find that nothing is the same anymore, and that her role may be reduced to that of a mistress, she must now make a choice to either return back home, or fight and win back Shakti's love.
- Inspector Vijay Verma is a very lonely cop whose only family is a younger brother, Ajay Verma, who is studying abroad. He also has two good friends, Shekhar and Seema. One day when he arrests criminal mastermind Jojo Braganza, he is shocked when Jojo is released from police custody because his corrupt lawyer shows the court a videotape of him at a completely different place,therefore he couldn't have committed the crime. From this day on they become enemies and Vijay is hot on Jojo's trail every time he commits a crime. One day while watching a film called 'Seeta Aur Geeta', he realizes that two people can be at different places at the same time if they are twins. He realizes that Jojo has a twin brother, Tony, who covers for him each time he commits a crime so he can get away with it easily. He successfully gets Jojo arrested and put in prison. However Jojo escapes and hides out at the house of Shekhar and Seema. When Shekhar realizes that Tony and Jojo are wanted criminals., he tries to contact Vijay. But Tony and Jojo find out and kill both Shekhar and Seema. Vijay is devastated by the loss of his two best friends and is comforted by nightclub dancer Sapna, and he falls in love with her. After his friends' deaths, he finds out that Tony and Jojo have Ajay on their hit list, so he tries to stop them, but his police commissioner, Shashi Kapoor, warns him against it.
- Dr Neela is asked to assist in a a surgery by her senior Dr Chandra but the patient passes away and Dr Chandra tells her that patient had zero chances of survival and he asked her to perform surgery so that she comes out of her past trauma.The patient sons comes to Neela's cabin and starts accusing her for killing his mother,where Neela recollects her past.She belonged to a poor family and was studying medical were she met a fellow student Avinash who was also financially weak and a good artist but suffering from terminal illness.Neela and Avinash met with a bad note but turned out to be good friends in order to overcome her financial crisis Dr Chandra asks Neela to give tut-ions to Monto whose son of a businessmen Shekar. During this period Shekar starts developing liking for Neela but she is attracted to Avinash,Shekar meets Avinash as he is the only one who can convince Neela for marriage.Avinash convinces Neela by reveling the truth that he is suffering from blood cancer and has very less time to live.A broken heart ed Neela marries Shekar but still has soft corner for Avinash as a friend leaving Shekar suspicious.
- Unable to handle the taking of his kingdom by an Indian Government decree, the Maharaja kills himself. His son, Jaipal, takes over as the Maharaja, turns rebel, and refuses to hand over his title and kingdom to the Government. It is in this background that Police Superintendent Dhirendra Singh assumes his duties. When a conflict arises between Jaipal and himself, he is transferred to another town. His father, Thakur Ram Avtaar, wants him to marry a childhood friend, Janki, the daughter of Thakur Pratap Singh. When he meets her, he falls in love with her, not knowing that she has given her heart to Manu Pratap Singh, with whose family there is animosity as Pratap's sister had eloped with a male from their family, & was killed at the hands of Pratap. An enraged Pratap, when he finds out about Janki's affair, has her married to Dhirendra. On the day of the marriage, Jaipal's nephew abducts Janki, but is shot dead by Manu. A pregnant Janki goes to live with Dhirendra, while Manu is sentenced to prison for life. An angry Jaipal kills Manu's dad, Thakur Sangram Singh, and sets fire to their house. Then Jaipal sets his eyes on young Kamli, who is Bhanu Pratap Singh's, Manu's brother, sweetheart, gets her pregnant, but refuses to marry her. Kamli, shamed at this, refuses to meet Bhanu. When Bhanu finds out that Jaipal had killed his dad and set fire to their property, he becomes a bandit with several other townspeople, and calls himself Bhavani. Years later, Manu is released from prison for good conduct, decides to make a living as a bounty hunter, hunting down, killing bandits and collecting rewards from SP Dhirendra. The story reaches a climax when Manu goes to hunt down Bhawani, not knowing that it is his own brother; while Jaipal kidnaps Dhirendra's son and holds him for ransom. The question remains will Manu hunt down Bhanu, and will Dhirendra compromise his position for a child that is not his own?
- A singer by profession, Suraj (Rajesh Khanna) gets stranded in resthouse in the coutnryside during a rainstorm. While there he experiences ununsual feelings, as if he has been there before. He feels himself transported to another time and era, to another birth, and drawn to a woman named Ratna (Hema Malini). He is unable to leave this experience behind him, and decides to find out what this means. He discovers that in his past life he was a Chief Singer in the emperor's court, his name was Prakash and he had fallen in love with a courtesan named Ratna, much to the chargin and anger of his family and the emperor's and his officials. They are tragically separated. He subsequently comes across a portrait of Ratna, and shortly after he meets a gypsy, Jhumri (also Hema Malini) who looks exactly like Ratna. Soon Jhumri is also able to recollect her past life, and her love for Prakash. This does not auger well with Rita Malhotra (Asha Sachdev) who loves Suraj, and Appa (Prem Chopra), the son of the leader of the gypsies (Madan Puri), who will not stop at anything to make Jhumri his wife. Appa steals the portrait, and instigates the gypsies against Suraj, so that he can marry Jhumri, and perhaps separate the two lovers again in this birth also.
- Ratan Kumar lives a middle-class existence with his wife, Pushpa and son, Sunder. When he is asked to commit a crime for Balram Singh, he does so, but decides to keep a suitcase full of diamonds for himself. An enraged Balram sets fire to his house. Believing his wife to be dead, Ratan flees, is rescued by Dr. Saigal, taken to the palace of a distraught Maharani Maanwati, who has just lost her son and husband, but is placated after being told that Sunder is her son. For years, Ratan, who now calls himself Ramesh, works for the Maharani, and when Sunder grows up, the Maharani comes to know of Ramesh's existence, finds that he closely resembles her husband, and marries him. Shortly thereafter, Pushpa re-surfaces, an enraged Maharani attempts to kill Ramesh, but ends up killing herself, before dying she asks Sunder to avenge her death. Fleeing from Sunder and the Police's wrath, Ramesh is apprehended by the Police, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in jail. When he returns, he becomes an underworld don, with a sole motive of bringing an end to Balram, little knowing that Sunder, who now calls himself Shyam, is also on the lookout for him, and has befriended Ravi, Ramesh's second son, who was born during his tenure in prison. When Balram finds this out, he plots to use Shyam to bring an end to Ramesh and his entire family - once and for all.
- This is a story of two lawyer brothers, their half brother, their wives and children. Siddheshwari, wife of the eldest brother has left the operational details of the household to Sheela, wife of the half brother Chander. Chander is a happy go lucky musician, who fails in successive business ventures. Sheela ensures that the household runs smoothly, while Siddheshwari is the fount of love and affection in the joint household. When brother Harish and his spouse Nayantara rejoin the household, sparks fly. Sheela is accused of misappropriating assets, and the couple are exiled and humiliated by Harish and Nayantara. Will Sheela and Chander's integrity and love be acknowledged? Will the joint family survive the stress of greed and envy?
- Honest police officer Surajbhan would like Rajeshwar Nath to provide all the material documents that can prove Raiszada Narsingh is a hardcore criminal. When Raiszada learns of this through his henchman Hansukh he kills Surajbhan and frames Rajeshwar Nath for this killing. Years later Surajbhan's son Ajit grows up with Raiszada and is willing to locate Rajeshwar Nath who now calls himself Girija Shankar so that he can avenge the murder of his dad.
- Chander joins the army as a Commando but has to deal with the corrupt officials who deal with international criminals.
- After witnessing his parents' assassination by Thakur Hakim Singh, Laakhan Singh, and Roshan Singh; Captain Zorawar Singh from the Indian army takes shelter in Gauri's house and consumes an unreasonable amount of alcohol. In his inebriated state, he gets intimate with Gauri without realizing it and she gets pregnant; when her inspector brother finds out, he attempts to avenge the injustice done to his sister by attacking Zorawar, resulting in fisticuffs that leave the inspector dead. Meanwhile Gauri gives birth to a son and attempts to bring him up; she decides to name him Shankar Shrivastav and make him promise to take revenge on Zorawar. Years later, Shankar has grown up to be a police inspector and is on the lookout for Zorawar; he comes to the aid of a mechanic named Suraj Singh several times and befriends him, finding out that he owns a small garage and lives with his elderly mother Padmini in the Bombay slums. What Shankar does not know is that his friendship with Suraj will be short-lived: Suraj is the biological son of his enemy Zorawar, and Padmini is his wife.
- Thakur Chandrabhan lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small village in India. He is widowed and lives with his sister; a widowed daughter-in-law, Saraswati; and a grand-daughter, Tara, who is of marriageable age. Also living in this household is Bholanath, who is blind since birth, and helps with household chores. Tara's marriage is arranged with a young man, Pratap Singh, from a noble family, who approves of Tara, but demands a dowry of 3 Lakh Rupees. Chandrabhan does not have this much money, but Bholanath has been stashing away cash, that is guarded by a snake, and offers all of it to Pratap, who accepts it and absconds. Blind Bhola is unable to pursue him, but is instead bitten by the snake, regains his vision and sets forth to Bombay to locate Pratap. Several weeks later, Bholanath returns home, just in time to be told that he must marry Tara, as she refuses to marry anyone else. Tara notices something very odd about Bholanath as he calls her "Tara', not as "Little Mistress" as he used to; he is terrified of snakes; and seems more cultured and educated. The family decides to get the two engaged, however, the ceremony is interrupted by the arrival of the police, who have an arrest warrant for Bholanath for Theft, and Murder of a young woman named Lucy. The question remains, what was Bholanath up to in Bombay, whose money did he steal, and why did he end up killing Lucy?
