- The film commemorates fifty years of colonisation in Upper Katanga. The commentator alludes to a population 'stuck in its own traditions' that needs to learn new technologies. Workers from Ruanda-Urundi land at Elizabethville's airport to work in the mines. First they are driven to 'acclimatisation reserves'. Later they will be relocated to workers' quarters. A tribute to the colonial heritage and its creation of, amongst other things, schools, hospitals, maternity wards and orphanages.

- Missionary Justin Gillet arrived in Congo in 1893. He created the botanical gardens of Kisantu and dedicated his whole life to them until his death in 1943. The park contained a wildlife reserve, vegetable plots and an arboretum where indigenous species were grown. Amongst the trees and plants that flourished in the park were palm trees, giant bamboos, teak, aquatic plants, orchids, ginger, mangosteens and Brazilian walnut trees, After Gillet's death a farmers' co-op in Kisantu was created in 1951, which cultivated crops of all sorts of vegetables.
