- GoofsThenardier puts it metal poker in the fire and heats it until it glows. He then pulls it out of the fire to threaten Valjean with and it remains glowing for several minutes. Heated metal will stop glowing after only a few seconds when removed from the heat source. It would still be hot and dangerous to touch, but it would not be glowing.

Episode 4
I wonder how big Paris was in the mid 19th century? Javert has spent 10 years brooding that he has not found Valjean. He thinks he is still somewhere in Paris, maybe he has not been looking hard enough.
Meanwhile Cosette has grown up to be a beautiful young woman in a convent school but she wants to live in the city. Valjean has hidden loot which he goes to when he needs money.
He certainly needs it now as he buys new clothes for Collette. As they walk down the avenue, Collette turns the head of young Marius.
Marius the son of Pontmercy now also grown up. When Marius finds out about his father's bravery he confront his grandfather and walks out on him.
However all roads lead to the Thenardiers boarding house in Paris. Marius moves there, Valjean and Cosette visit it and the Thenardiers recognise Valjean and plan to steal his money and kill him.
Valjean can be so irritatingly noble and places himself in unnecessary danger. Surely he knew that he might be walking into a trap when he goes to see Thenardier again. Also what was the deal with the red hot poker?
The episode does suffer from too many coincidences. However we are also entering a backdrop of another revolution in the air in Paris. It is a tinderbox that is set to ignite, no red hot poker is needed for that.
