I loved the Dragon Age games. I replayed them a couple of times each - all three games. And I'm looking forward to number four.
But, to be quite honest, the animated series have thus far been very disappointing. I had high hopes for DA: Absolution, but I was saddened by its boring characters and snooze-inducing storyline. Why can't someone produce a decent DA animation? Really, I'm asking.
The Elephant in the Room: Yes, there are LGBTQ couples as main characters. I've no problem at all with that. But it has to serve the story. Here, they don't and if anything they were annoying and pointless. Such a waste.
The other major problem is that much about the DA world was left unexplained. This is not a problem for those of us who are familiar with the lore. But anyone else would be left scratching their heads. If you had wanted to make a animated series that only some gamers would enjoy, this is the way to do it.
I'm giving this series 4 stars only because I like the DA franchise - that alone was worth 2 stars. And the animation was ok - so another star.
