Who could have imagined that the fiery on-screen chemistry between Princess Leia and Han Solo, portrayed by the legendary Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, would leap off the silver screen and blossom into a real-life romance? Indeed, the revelation of their affair was a breathtaking twist worthy of a Hollywood epic, capturing the imaginations of both Star Wars fans and cinephiles.
Alas, their brief affair was marred by more sadness than romance. Despite its complexity, this slice of trivia never fails to stir the pot of fan discussions, especially considering their shared time on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, instead of chatting about themselves & their own story, they talked about another romantic couple on the set.

Giancarlo Esposito recently confirmed that he had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe - though not as Professor X - and speculation has been running rampant since.
Now, a first look at the actor's stand-in has been shared online, and we also have some details on his "antagonist agent of chaos" character.
Spoilers follow.
We now have confirmation that Esposito will indeed make his MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World, which recently started another round of reshoots. Thanks to Atlanta Filming, we have a set photo featuring his stand-in wearing tactical gear.
Not much to go on, but Af did also share a crudely drawn sketch of Esposito's character in his full costume, along with some very interesting new details.
It seems this fella is going to be very well-equipped for battle, with three guns, three knives, and an axe. He is also said to sport a black cape with brown lining,...

You can chart Steven Spielberg's evolution as a director by the "Indiana Jones" films. By 1981, the former wunderkind had gotten the wind knocked out of him by the muted reaction to his erratic 1979 burlesque "1941" (which earned him a tsk-tsking from John Wayne) and was hungry for a rebound. Teaming up with his buddy George Lucas, he made "Raiders of the Lost Ark," a rollicking pastiche that has since supplanted the '30s and '40s serials that inspired their action-adventure in our cultural consciousness.
1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" saw Spielberg wade further into the horror pool he'd explored two years earlier in "Poltergeist," a suburban nightmare that neither he nor director Tobe Hooper can take full credit for. "Temple of Doom" might just feature some of the most exhilarating pacing and grandest spectacle of the filmmaker's career, but that's difficult to appreciate beneath the film's racial insensitivity and general mean-spiritedness.

It was widely reported recently that the Activision/Microsoft conglomerate had shut down several studios, resulting in the loss of numerous jobs. However, following these recent developments, one studio has boldly decided to leave behind its well-known assets, allowing it to return to being an independent studio once more.
First formed in 1989 by Paul Freiche III and Fred Ford, the Toys for Bob studio created the Star Control and Skylanders franchises, but they may be best known for their work on the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon franchises. Although Freiche and Ford decided to leave the studio in 2020 for new pastures, the stewardship of Paul Yan and Avery Lodato has seen the studio transition onto a more stable footing.

A career spanning six decades has had Harrison Ford rise to fame as one of the most versatile stars in Hollywood. Famed as the charismatic Han Solo from Star Wars and the lead protagonist of the Indiana Jones franchise, the star has left an indelible mark on the action, adventure, and fantasy genres. Moreover, these staple outings have often portrayed him as a charming yet roguish actor with quite a serious persona.

Regardless of his movie stereotypes, the legendary actor does, in fact, know how to tickle the funny bones. Aside from his humor-laced dialogue in the movies, Ford has thrown open numerous instances of being non-serious and a bearer of jokes in everyday life as well. Standing out among those is one banter regarding broccoli that once had the audience rolling in splits.

Carrie Fisher blamed Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens for Harrison Ford’s 2015 plane crash and her near-fatal car accident. She was convinced that the movie was cursed and even made a call to Mark Hamill to make sure that he was okay. Fisher returned to her role as Princess Leia in the film after 32 years in The Force Awakens and took some time to get settled in.

Everything about the making of 1954's "Godzilla" feels miraculous. The movie is a feat of filmmaking on every level, from its now aged yet still impressive practical effects to its bold nuclear threat story set in post-war Japan. The film utilized every trick in the book to bring its eponymous kaiju to life, from building a monster costume out of plastic and concrete to creating Godzilla's infamous roar by rubbing the loosened strings of a double bass.
The team behind the original "Godzilla" movie, which included director Ishirō Honda, special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, and the team at Toho Studios, got creative with their moviemaking at every opportunity. Still, no amount of creative problem-solving could save the cast and crew from the forces of nature, which apparently conspired against the production during some especially sweltering days in Japan's Mie prefecture.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is not only stealing hearts, but he seems to be stealing quite a few perfect roles from major franchises too. Besides having his recent film The Fall Guy released in the theatres (he stars as Tom Ryder in it), he has another Marvel movie lined up, which, unfortunately, recently faced yet another postponed release date: Kraven the Hunter.

Although it is not new for the franchise to shift the release dates further down the road, this news still has fans springing up with conspiracy theories. That being said, one theory states that this further delay is presumably because of Taylor-Johnson’s casting as the new James Bond. And, as much as it would sound appealing to his fans, this theory might as well piss off Henry Cavill fans.

After the Hays Code was finally dropped in the late ’60s, it allowed filmmakers to make films without any restrictions, which led to the rise of some of the greatest names in filmmaking. This included acclaimed filmmaker George Lucas, who rose to prominence following the success of American Graffiti, starring Harrison Ford, which hit the shelves in ’73.
But it was his next collaboration with Ford that would go on to change Hollywood forever, kickstarting one of the most iconic movie franchises of all time. However, making Star Wars: A New Hope was pretty taxing for the filmmaker, as the sci-fi juggernaut almost fumbled after Lucas underwent some medical issues.

The Star Wars franchise has been around for over four decades and continues to enjoy an iconic status in pop culture. However, despite grossing over $10 billion, the franchise has recently experienced a slump, especially due to the mixed reception of its recent entries, both on the big screen and streaming.

Meanwhile, director Matthew Vaughn, known for his work on the Kingsman franchise, has suggested a complete reboot of the Star Wars universe. Vaughn cited the Spider-Man series a template for his proposed reboot of the space opera franchise created by George Lucas. Here is what Vaughn had to say about the rebooting of Star Wars and why it makes sense.

Han Solo as a character looks like he was built to deliver one-liners. Harrison Ford brought the character to life with his signature charm, which didn’t miss a beat when he returned to play the character in The Force Awakens. The actor’s handling of the role, along with lines that he improvised, has not only become important for Star Wars history but have become important moments in cinema history too.

One of the most iconic scenes from Empire Strikes Back has Princess Leia Organa confessing her love for Han Solo, to which the character simply responds with ‘I know’. Held in pretty high regard by cinema enthusiasts and Star Wars fans alike, this particular line of dialogue was improvised by Harrison Ford on the set of the film.

As expansive and iconic as its title suggests, Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West certainly seemed to be written in John Ford’s blood, from the vast wide-angle visions of Monument Valley that Leone and cinematographer Tonino Delli Colli luxuriated in, to the railroad-based, future-of-America economic landscape that serves as a backdrop to a number of bandit-versus-bandit power plays. Henry Fonda, with that methodical, stately stroll of his and those killer blue eyes barely visible from under the rim of his hat, can be seen and heard throughout, sending a shiver of great nostalgia up one’s spine. Ripened and tanned by years of desert sunlight, Ford’s Wyatt Earp is back in the saddle again.
But that particular pace and posture that Fonda had become known for in such films as My Darling Clementine, matched with the devious glint in those baby blues, now took...

Fred Roos, the casting director turned producer who jump-started the career of Jack Nicholson and collaborated often with Francis Ford Coppola, sharing a best picture Oscar with the filmmaker for The Godfather Part II, has died. He was 89.
Roos died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, a publicist announced.
It’s part of Hollywood lore that before Harrison Ford became a famous actor, he was laboring as a carpenter to make ends meet. What some might not know is that it was at Roos’ house where Ford was woodworking when the casting director befriended him, eventually pushing him for roles in George Lucas’ American Graffiti (1973) and Star Wars (1977) and Coppola’s The Conversation (1974).
And it was Roos who convinced Lucas — who had been leaning toward Amy Irving — that Carrie Fisher should portray Princess Leia in Star Wars. (Roos did not have an official role on that film.)

The just-launched fragrance line from supermodel Bella Hadid blends one of summertime’s most prominent scents — sea salt! — with pink pepper, an olive tree accord and lavender twist at the heart, finishing with a hint of woods and crisp amber. Per launch intel, Hadid’s love affair with fragrances began creating her own essential oil blends, growing lavender and distilling oils on her family farm. It’s been a while since we’ve heard any updates for Mission: Impossible 8. Still, Ted Lasso and The Garfield Movie star Hannah Waddingham is ready to offer audiences some encouraging words about the film’s progress. While walking the orange carpet at the world premiere of The Garfield Movie, in which Waddingham stars as the voice of Jinx, the cat show diva and villain of the film, Waddingham said Mission: Impossible 8 is nearly ready to resume filming.
“We’re just about to start shooting again on Mission, yes,” Waddingham confirmed to Entertainment Tonight. While she couldn’t reveal any plot details, Waddingham says her Mission character is a “powerful woman” and is “quite functional” in the face of dangerous missions, massive explosions, and death-defying stuntwork.
Waddingham also re-upped her comments about her Mission: Impossible co-star, Tom Cruise, saying he’s a “gorgeous and inspirational” person who goes above and...

Steven Spielberg had a great run in the 80s and 90s churning out blockbusters while also venturing into compelling dramas. He entertained audiences with the Indiana Jones franchise that has since become a significant part of pop culture and also made audiences cry with emotionally driven films such as Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple.

The 90s saw some of the best works from the director and Spielberg managed to churn out two of the best films of the 90s in the same year Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List (both 1993). Star Wars creator George Lucas was instrumental in making that possible but when it came to Lucas needing help from Spielberg, the maverick turned it down for a very logical reason.

There can be no doubt if there is one person bound and determined to keep Hollywood’s long history of Westerns alive it has been Kevin Costner. Okay, well Clint Eastwood too. And that has been true right from the beginning of his career when he played the freewheeling scene stealer Jake in Lawrence Kasdan’s Silverado in 1985, and he also made an impression as title star of 1994’s Wyatt Earp. But his real mark on the genre has been not just as an actor but also as director and producer behind the scenes, first with his Oscar-winning 1990 Best Picture Dances With Wolves and 2003’s terrific Open Range with co-star Robert Duvall. For the past few seasons he has prominently been involved in a more contemporary take in his hit TV series, Yellowstone. But without question his most ambitious and sprawling swing yet, Horizon: An American Saga, which kicked off...

Mark Hamill remembered his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher in a 2023 interview and opened up about the tumultuous relationship they shared over the years. The duo were cast as siblings Luke and Leia Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy and reprised their roles in Disney’s sequel films. Fisher passed away in 2016 after suffering from a heart attack. Hamill recalled how they constantly argued and made up, presumably until her death.

Power, the new documentary centered on the police in the United States, comes from the stable of Netflix, but it is certainly not your regular “true crime” entertainment. The Yance Ford-directed documentary is not based on any particular event. Instead, it takes the route of being introspective about the whole police system. Ford, who’s an Emmy winner, has already proved his mettle in documentary filmmaking with the very personal Strong Island, where he investigated the murder of his own brother. Unlike Strong Island, Ford’s latest work is based on a general topic and an exploration of it. Let’s take a closer look.
What is the documentary about?
The word “police” implies power, and Ford’s documentary goes deep into finding out the origin of it. Ford starts from the very beginning, which was the creation of the first ever police force in America in 1883 in Boston.

It was the first attempt by Hollywood to bring the classic monster to life in America, and it was a spectacular failure. That's what Warner Bros., Legendary, and director Gareth Edwards were working against while crafting 2014's "Godzilla." Skepticism was built in. They had to prove that a film within this franchise made outside of Japan could work.

Harrison Ford has been known for his gritty and hard-boiled roles in his long career. While he has been part of adventurous films such as the Indiana Jones franchise, he is mostly known for his grim action films such as Air Force One, The Fugitive, and Blade Runner.
The actor has gotten the reputation of being a no-nonsense man off-screen as well due to his brutal honesty. However, one interview with his Blade Runner 2049 co-star Ryan Gosling seemed to have broken him out of his shell. The 1923 star can be seen laughing his heart out in an interview with Alison Hammond on This Morning, which surprised many fans.

One of 2024’s most electric hits is our top pick among this weekend’s streaming releases, but there’s something for everyone, including a searing documentary, an oddball indie, and a couple of middling blockbusters.
The contender to watch this week: “Challengers“
Luca Guadagnino‘s box-office backspin became one of spring’s moviegoing success stories, and we’re all the luckier for it. Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist‘s love-triangle tennis lark is still playing in plenty of theaters across the country, but if you want another serve, it’s available to rent for $19.99 on VOD. It’s not impossible to imagine a “Challengers” resurgence in the fall: Guadagnino is already an Oscar darling thanks to “Call Me by Your Name,” and Zendaya seems especially poised for top-tier accolades. If nothing else, maybe Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross‘ banger of a score can net the duo’s third trophy.

Policing in the US can serve as a sort of Rorschach test: Are the cops a corrective force necessary to combat criminals? Or a hotbed of corruption whose unchecked authority poses a threat to disadvantaged communities? Power, the new documentary by director Yance Ford, addresses these tough questions while carefully considering how policing as we know it came to be.
The subject has interested Ford for decades, a fascination he traces back to the murder of his brother in 1992. He first explored it in his Academy Award-nominated 2017 documentary Strong Island, which revisits a grand jury’s failure to indict the man who committed the crime.
“On some level, I’ve been thinking about the police for 30 years,” Ford tells Tudum, noting that the wellspring of conversation, protests, and police crackdowns during the spring and summer of 2020 led him to reconsider the overall purpose of policing. “In the aftermath...

However, even before the first movie’s launch, someone had brutally negative thoughts and predictions on how it would turn out to be.
John Wick.
Surprisingly enough, this someone was none other than the mastermind Stahelski himself, who even predicted that the film would be such a massive failure that it would go “straight to video.” But what’s even more stunning than the filmmaker’s own predictions on his blockbuster saga was the fact that Reeves was never supposed to lead the franchise the way he ended up doing!

What is the purpose of police in the U.S.? To ensure public safety, many people might answer. But that’s a thoroughly misleading definition in the view of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yance Ford. In his new documentary Power, premiering on Netflix this Friday, the filmmaker argues policing in America is really about the maintenance and enforcement of a particular social order, one that privileges property-owning members of society while targeting and disadvantaging others.
Ford, who earned an Academy Award nomination for the 2017 film Strong Island, is our guest on the new episode of Deadline’s Doc Talk podcast, co-hosted by Oscar winner John Ridley and Matt Carey, Deadline’s documentary editor.
“This film offers an analysis of police history that I’d like you to consider,” the director says at the beginning of Power. “This film requires curiosity or at least suspicion. I leave that choice up to you.”

One of the most legendary pieces of an iconic role almost going to a different actor is when Tom Selleck was initially offered the lead as Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He famously nailed his audition (which you can watch here) and was offered the part. However, he had just shot the pilot for Magnum P.I. and when that show was picked up, his opportunity to play the whip-wielding archeologist slipped through his fingers. He eventually got to star in his own period adventure movie in 1983, High Road to China, which is a bit of an unseen gem.
Selleck, who’s never had particularly sour grapes over the casting, writes about his shot at playing Indy in detail in his new memoir, “You Never Know:, lavishing praise on Spielberg, Lucas, Ford, and overall proving to be a good sport about the whole affair. Yet, one thing...
