[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale “All Fall Down.”] There’s good news and there’s unfortunate news when it comes to Bobby (Peter Krause) in the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale: He’s alive, but there’s a major twist for the 118. A fire may have completely burned down Bobby and Athena’s (Angela Bassett) house—the enemies he and Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) made a couple episodes ago track them down for revenge—but at least everyone survives. And, after that and a conversation with Amir, Bobby’s realized that his decision to quit the Lafd isn’t the right one. The only problem? Bobby returns to work to find that Gerrard (Brian Thompson)—yes, that awful captain who made the workplace so uncomfortable for Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) before Nash came along—is now the 118’s captain. According to Gerrard, there are some concerns downtown of a leadership deficit in ...

It’s the question on every 9-1-1 fan’s mind: Is the ABC drama really killing off Bobby Nash in tonight’s Season 7 finale (8/7c)?
They have every right to worry, given that last week’s episode ended with Peter Krause’s character collapsing from cardiac arrest, mere moments after rescuing Athena from their burning home. But while viewers lose sleep wondering whether Bobby’s latest brush with death will also be his last, Krause is staying positive, reminding TVLine that there’s an upside to Bobby landing in a coma: “There’s no pressure to remember my lines.

The Resident may have ended in January 2023, but if you ask us, we’d love to see a revival, stat! And we’re not the only ones. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who starred as Dr. Aj Austin, can currently be seen recurring on 9-1-1 as a travel nurse—he’s back in a hospital!—who is first introduced in the burn unit. But as is revealed, he shares a tragic history with Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause): He was badly burned and his wife died in the fire that Bobby accidentally caused all those years ago that also claimed the lives of his family. And when TV Insider recently caught up with Warner about that arc, we had to ask if he’d want to return to Aj in any capacity if given the chance. “Aj was probably my favorite role, ...

Bobby Nash's story is one filled with sadness, and during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 8, we got a much deeper look into his past and present.
Amir is someone from Bobby's past, though Bobby was only aware of that when Amir revealed at an AA meeting that the two had a deep history.
From that meeting forward, the hour unfolded in typical 9-1-1 fashion. It was emotionally charged and incredibly dense, as Bobby's plea for amends found the two men, once strangers, relying on one another for survival.
Esteemed and multi-talented actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner joined the cast for 9-1-1 Season 7 in the role of Amir, and he's already made quite an impact.
Bobby and Amir found themselves in a very precarious position, with threats in the form of people and the elements to contend with as they looked for help in the middle of the desert. Still, the...

Little has been known about Bobby Nash's upbringing, as the series has chosen to keep that information close to the vest.
But that all changed during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 8, a captivating and engaging hour of television, which pushed Bobby to the forefront as he sought to make amends for the apartment fire in Minnesota and soon found himself in a battle for survival in the merciless desert.
The episode was interspersed with flashbacks from Bobby's childhood, small snippets of a life in Minnesota, which got increasingly volatile and dangerous as his firefighter captain and role model father, Tim Nash, descended into his addiction.
Fuller House alum John Brotherton joins the series in a guest-starring role as Tim, a troubled man who slowly lost everything he seemingly once held dear outside of Bobby, who stood steadfastly by his side.

Such is the case with “Step Nine.” In it, hospital burn unit nurse Amir (perpetual scene-stealer Malcolm-Jamal Warner) was in that tragic fire that Bobby accidentally caused and that killed his family. It took years for 9-1-1 to get to Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) wedding, and after a tease at the big day—the groom’s Mia!—fans have to wait just a bit longer. 9-1-1 is not new on Thursday, April 18, though it is on—with reruns of the first three episodes of Season 7, covering the cruise ship disaster that was Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) honeymoon. [This story contains spoilers from season seven, episode five of 9-1-1, “You Don’t Know Me.”]
A couple of months ago, 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear reached out to actor Lou Ferrigno Jr. — who had guest-starred in three flashback episodes of the second season — about reprising his role as firefighter Tommy Kinard in the seventh season of the hit Fox-turned-abc first-responder drama.
Ferrigno Jr., who says he had nothing but fond memories of working with the writer and producer years ago, was instantly intrigued to learn that Minear was in the early stages of writing a multi-episode arc that would allow viewers to check back in with Tommy in the present. That storyline, as it turns out, would involve Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), the ostensibly straight character who would navigate his newfound attraction to Tommy in the landmark 100th episode, which aired last Thursday.

9-1-1 is adding a face from Bobby’s (Peter Krause) past for the second half of Season 7.
According to Deadline, Malcolm-Jamal Warner has landed a four-episode arc as Amir.
Amir is a nurse in a hospital’s burn unit with a surprising connection to Bobby.
Details about how the pair come into contact have not been disclosed, but given that we know Amir’s profession, there’s a good chance it will result from a character winding up in that unit.
If Amir’s tie is to Bobby, we expect it to be someone from the 118.
Let’s hope it isn’t Buck (Oliver Stark). He needs a break after his brush with death after being struck by lightning.
Could Malcolm Jamal-Warner become a new series regular?
It’s unclear whether the four episodes could become something more because 9-1-1 has already earned a Season 8 renewal at ABC.

Now, we’re about to meet someone from his past just as he and his wife Athena (Angela Bassett) have gotten past a rough patch during their honeymoon cruise ship — the disaster actually led to them talking about problems that have been brewing for some time. “With all of their...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered.”] For its 100th episode, 9-1-1, one of the most consistently exciting, heartfelt, and simply entertaining shows on TV, delivers one for the books, setting Buck (Oliver Stark) up for a new romance and to figure out what that means for him. For most of the episode, Buck’s seemingly jealous that Eddie (Ryan Guzman) is leaving him out and has formed a new friendship with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former member of the 118 who flew them in a helicopter to Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) rescue when their honeymoon turned into a disaster. Eddie and Tommy fly to Vegas to watch a fight? Buck’s bothered. Eddie’s son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) can’t stop talking about Tommy? Buck rants to his sister Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered.”] If you asked us before 9-1-1 Season 7 began if the ABC first responder drama would take the relationship between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman), which remains strictly platonic, and actually go where some fans have wanted to see it go for some time now, the answer would have seemed simple. But now the question has to be asked. Buck spends the 100th episode “bothered and bewildered,” to borrow its title, upon realizing Eddie’s spending all this free time with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former 118er they just worked with to rescue Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett). He seems hurt when Eddie talks about meeting someone and just clicking. He tries to get Eddie’s attention at work, then drags Chimney (Kenneth Choi) along to a weekly basketball game upon learning his best friend’s going with Tommy. And ...

When 9-1-1 co-creator Tim Minear signed up on Twitter (now known as X), he chose a telling handle to denote his legacy as a screenwriter and director: @Cancelledagain. “I was sort of infamous for all of my thundering failures over the years,” explains Minear. “Firefly lasted one season, Terriers one season, The Inside one season, Drive went for six episodes. Everything was canceled, so I just called myself ‘cancelled again,’ which actually worked out for me because these are all beloved little cult shows now.”
With the seventh season of 9-1-1, which he created with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, underway and a milestone 100th episode premiering April 4, Minear now has a big, long-running show on his hands, plus a successful spinoff in 9-1-1: Lone Star, which will debut its fifth season in the fall. So much so that he’s considering a name change if he returns to the social media platform.

Now, in our clip, Buck’s visiting Tommy to talk to him about his work after the 118. “What got you into flying, aside from the fact that I assume it’s like having a superpower?” he asks. The first responders of 911 will keep putting their lives on the line at ABC.
The network has renewed 911 for the 2024-25 season, which will mark its second on ABC and eighth overall. The series, from Disney’s 20th Television, Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, moved to ABC from Fox this season. The renewal comes as 911 is set to air its 100th episode this week.
The show was Fox’s top-rated drama for several seasons, and it’s picked up that mantle at ABC. Through its first three episodes of a strike-shortened seventh season, 911 is averaging 5.29 million same-day viewers (versus 4.7 million last season), and the March 14 season premiere more than doubled its initial audience with a week of streaming and other delayed viewing, going from 4.93 million to 11.76 million viewers. ABC also says that 911 is the network’s most watched current series across all platforms this season.

At times, 9-1-1 can be spectacle television.
What other show do you know that's been able to have a tsunami, landslide, and sinking cruise ship disaster happen throughout its run and pull it off with such aplomb?
But that's never been all there is to 9-1-1. The characters are the heartbeat, which is so often not the case on standard procedurals, and that mixture of spectacle, found family, emotional warmth, and humor has always set it apart.
9-1-1 Season 7 returned from the strike-induced elongated hiatus like it had something to prove.
Moving from Fox to ABC breathed new life into a show that will conclude this season with over 100 episodes to its credit, a feat that's very rare these days.
Choosing to usher in its ABC run with perhaps the biggest spectacle of all could have been seen as a gamble, even though it's something the series is historically known for doing.
